Here we go again with another release sponsored by Caetano Rodrigues, The Great. Caetano presents this time a female singer and I’m very confident that this post will be a treat for many Loronixers. It was a surprise to see the tremendous feedback given to Pat Thomas and I hope that Joni James hits the same honors gave by Loronixers to Pat Thomas. Let’s check another Caetano’s gem.
This is Joni James – Bossa Nova Style (1965), for MGM. Hearing Joni James, I sure that you will remember the anthological Julie is her Name, by Julie London. Joni James seems to be from the same school and her interpretation of Bossa Nova is really different. I like Joni James singing and this is a very pleasant LP. Thanks for this one Caetano. Really nice album- It is wonderful that Caetano shows us a mix of brazilian music recorderd in Brazil itself and albums recorderd outside of Brazil.

Very classy. I really appreciate your presentation of international bossa nova releases. I find an outsider’s perspective on the genre fascinating, illuminating and, even sometimes, amusing. But always entertaining, never boring. Keep up the great work!
PS I would like to share my Isabelle Aubret, Helen Merrill, Morricone, Gimmicks etc files in the future.
