What a nice night! I’m writing this post just after the last video was released, so I do not have feedback so far about it, but I’m confident that people will have a lot to talk about it. As I said at tonight opening post, Caetano is in charge of the selections and this is to present Loronixers another Caetano’s pick from this new series. Caetano’s best quality is to identify gold were regular guys such like zecalouro can’t see and this one is a real treat.
This is Paquito D’Rivera, Claudio Roditi, Ralph Moore and Jay Ashby – Return to Ipanema (1989), for Town Crier, featuring the great reunion of musicians you see on top. It was hard to define the name of this post. I would not like to identify Paquito D’Rivera as the main performer and also file this record as Various Artists. The best decision is take the name of four of them, such like Town Crier made at cover artwork. Caetano’s posts are self-explanatory and this is the kind of record that nobody should miss. Tracks include:
(sax, clarinet)
Claudio Roditi
(trumpet)
Ralph Moore
(sax tenor)
Jay Ashby
(trombone)
Danilo Perez
(piano)
Nilson Matta
(bass)
Portinho
(drums)
Rafael Cruz
(percussion)
Track List
01 – Snow Samba
02 – Tristeza de Nos Dois
03 – Return to Ipanema
04 – Pra Dizer Adeus
05 – To Brenda
06 – She is a Carioca

Another one that’s been in my collection along time. Most of you have probably never heard of the trombone player, Jay Ashby and you will be pleasantly surprised by his playing.

I don’t know where you get these jewels, but your generosity in sharing them makes you worthy of my deepest thanks. All best.
