Hello, Good Evening! Autumn in Rio de Janeiro was the coldest on in the last 40 years. I do not remember cold temperatures such like these on May. This is a major problem for zecalouro and for the first time I had to place a heater on his room, this should be the first night with this artificial heating. Perhaps I will move to his place if the house gets colder in the middle of the night. Today we had a lot of fun with another album from one of our favorites and I could not resist showing to Loronixers.

This is Bob Fleming Quartet – Sax em HI-FI (1958), for Musidisc, pretty old and good Bob Fleming album, his second LP for Musidisc and the second all time release by this fictional sax player, which is the legendary Moacyr Silva. Bob Fleming Quartet personnel is not credited, but I could hear the touch of Chaim Lewak on piano, the others – bass and drums – are not identified. Perhaps they are credited on first Bob Fleming Quartet album for Musidisc, Um Sax Espetacular. If someone has this LP, we appreciate to have this information. Bob Fleming Quartet performs a repertoire based on American Jazz standards, very nice for a cold Sunday night. Tracks include:

01 – Manhattan (Rodgers / Hart)
02 – I Get a Kick Out Of You (Cole Porter)
03 – Over The Rainbow (Harold Arlen / E. Y. Harburg)
04 – Who (O. Harbach / O. Hammerstein II)
05 – I Won’t Cry Anymore (A. Frisch / F. Wise)
06 – An Affair To Remember (H. Adamson / L. McCarey / T. Chandler / H. Warren)
07 – Cheek To Cheek (Irving Berlin)
08 – Stormy Weather (Harold Arlen / T. Koehler)
09 – Love Letters In The Sand (J. F. Coots / N. Kenny / C. Kenny)
10 – My Funny Valentine (Rodgers / Hart)
11 – Because Of You (A. Hammerstein / D. Wilkinson)
12 – Almost Paradise (N. Petty)

Hello, Good Evening! It seems that Rio de Janeiro will finally have a relief after more than 60 days of extremely hot days. I was even used to it. Caetano said today that Sao Paulo is like winter and probably we will receive this cold polar wind tomorrow. We are now under a heavy wind. Actually every wind is terrific when you live on top of a building in front of a beach. zeca knew this change, he was really different today, asking to go inside his cage for sleep at 2pm.

Anyway, wind remembers me a sax and sax is all about a favorite artist of many Loronixers. Let’s start this night with Bob Fleming.

This is Bob Fleming – Bob Fleming Interpreta Boleros (1961), for Musidisc, the first out of a three album series with Bob Fleming renditions to the Bolero genre. Little is known about this album and personnel listing is unfortunately not available at the back cover and websites I could so far research. Our survey outcome should be really amazing, since we will have information about Loronix preferences. That’s why we need several responses to make our sample close to the overall Loronix feeling. Tracks include:

01 – Frio en Alma – Aqueles Ojos Verdes
02 – Una Mujer – Desesperadamente
03 – Por que Ya no me Quieres – Olhos Castanhos
04 – Magic is the Moonlight – Tres Palabras
05 – Adios – Se Mui Bien que Vendras
06 – Solamente una Vez – Frenesi
07 – Maria Helena – La Violetera
08 – Quiereme Mucho – Cubanacan
09 – Torna a Soriento – O Sole Mio
10 – Poinciana – Marta
11 – Stars in Your Eyes – Orchids in the Moonlight
12 – Quero Beijar-te as Maos / Nostalgias

Hello! Good Evening! Our friend Jeff told me yesterday that we say good night only when we leave not when we arrive. How could I make it wrong for months with nobody calling my attention? As we are talking about language, zeca, the parrot, made a great improve this week. zeca finally understood how to ask for things. Not a matter of using the right verb to make good phrases, but saying things with the same tune we make in Portuguese. This is really amazing; he is now asking for turning music on, food, sleep, spraying, etc. You should believe.

Anyway, I was missing Moacyr Silva and I’m confident that several friends are also waiting. We will go now with Moacyr Silva as Bob Fleming with this early release.

This is Bob Fleming – Este e Bob Fleming (1961), for Audiola, which is a Musidic company. Little I know about this album. The cover artwork is simple on both faces with no complimentary information, personnel is not listed. Tracks include:

01 – All The Things You Are
02 – Bat Masterson
03 – It’s Wonderful
04 – Laura
05 – Deep Purple
06 – All The Way

Hello, good night! I have to admit that I’m happy with the end of Carnaval. Everything went fine, as far as I know and we had a successful party down here. Now, it is time to get back to a normal life, schedule an appointment with zecalouro vet, use behavior analysis to make him forget the tunes that he learned and start the year. The show must go on.

Let’s make a great start today showing to Loronixers an album that has a combination of saxophone and Hammond B3 organ. This is Bob Fleming – Bob Fleming (1961), for Musidisc, featuring Bob Fleming aka Moacyr Silva and probably, my assumption, Ed Lincoln or Celso Murilo on the Hammond B3 organ. I spoke today with Claudio Fagnan, our expert on recognizing participations of the artists he loves on albums. Claudio will take the last Ivan Casanova LP for a hearing and this Bob Fleming to bring clarification on these issues very soon. Tracks include:

01 – O Nosso Amor / Fechei a Porta
02 – E Luxo So / Teleco Teco Nr. 2
03 – Meditacao / Cheiro de Saudade
04 – A Noite do Meu Bem / Fim de Caso

Hello, good night! I will start the day saying Welcome! to several new friends that had their first contact with Loronix today. Mariana Barros, from a major Brazilian newspaper in Sao Paulo, Folha de Sao Paulo, wrote an article mentioning Loronix, Thanks Mariana!

I made a try today to scare zecalouro with this cover and he could not understand that the image of a kitten as a real kitten. Perhaps the capacity of associate pictures with real forms is only a human gift. Ok! I’m finished with rubbish, let’s talk about the music.

This is Bob Fleming – Mr. Sax Serie C (no date), for Musidisc. If you are thinking we have a new artist to explore or a special post of an international musician, don’t stop reading. Bob Fleming is Moacyr Silva, the legendary Brazilian sax player with many LPs already presented to Loronixers. I could not check Moacyr Silvas reasons to adopt this alternative name for some recordings on Musidisc. Caetano is also also very interested to understand this character, Bob Fleming, since Bob Fleming still releasing for Musidisc after Moacyr Silva departure to Copacabana (record label).

The questions are many, for instance: Moacyr Silva performed which Bob Fleming records? Who is the second Bob Fleming besides Moacyr Silva? If you have something to add to this pile of uncertain, feel free to come and say. By the way, this record is truly amazing. Tracks include:

01 – Manhattan (Rodgers / Hart)
02 – I Get a Kick Out Of You (Cole Porter)
03 – Dancing In The Dark (Schwartz / Dietz)
04 – Who (O. Harbach / O. Hammerstein II)
05 – I Won’t Cry Anymore (A. Frisch / Freiwise)
06 – Affair To Remember (Harold Adamson / Harry Warren)
07 – Blue Moon (Rodgers / Hart)
08 – I’m In The Mood For Love (MC Hugh / Heusen)
09 – All My Tomorrows (Sammy Cahn / Heusen)
10 – Over The Rainbow (Harold Harlen / E. Y. Harbourg)
11 – Exodus (Gold)
12 – Stellaby (Washington / Victor Young)
