Hello, Good Night! Eliana Pittman seems to be a legend outside Brazil; every friend I speak about her always gives nice feedback of her singing and beauty. This release is from a very early Eliana Pittman, not that early as the previous one with her stepfather Booker, this is her second or third solo release.

Meet Eliana Pittman & Conjunto 3-D – Eliana ao Vivo (1968), for Copacabana, a live set recorded at Teatro de Bolso, Rio de Janeiro when Eliana Pittman was touring to promote her first Copacabana LP, E Preciso Cantar (1967).

Conjunto 3-D, as Antonio Adolfo (piano), Vitor Manga (drums) and Novelli (bass), complemented by Geraldo Azevedo (acoustic guitar), makes the difference, backing Eliana Pittman throughout the set. Tracks include:

Eliana Pittman and his stepfather Booker Pittman recorded together an album in 1964 for Polydor, Eliana and Booker Pittman – News from Brazil, Bossa Nova, considered one of the hardest to find LPs in Brazil. However, only a few selected are aware of the existence of another Booker & Pittman release and this is what Caetano Rodrigues kindly brings to us, another rare and sought-after Eliana and Booker Pittman release.

This is Eliana e Booker Pittman – Eliana e Booker (196?), for Mocambo. I have been asking several collectors at Loronix about this LP. My fault, without knowing a great expectation was created by these inquiries, which is something that makes me feel really confident to say that only a few selected friends had the chance to hear this LP.

Unfortunately, the date is uncertain. By the way Eliana Pittman sings in this LP, she is probably less experienced then her performance on the previous mentioned News from Brazil, Bossa Nova (1964), this should be from the very early 60′s.

Anyway, if you are one of those who were tracking down this LP, here it is. Thanks to Caetano, he brings music that we probably never had the chance to get along before. Tracks include:

Eliana Pittman is the stepdaughter of the American sax player Booker Pittman. Eliana and Booker performed together for some short time in the 60′s. This rare LP, Eliana and Booker Pittman, News from Brazil, Bossa Nova (1963), is one of the few memories zecalouro could found about the time they were together as artists.

I do not have much information to present about this LP, what is already known so far is that Tamba Trio takes part on the set and the arrangements are from Gaya. If a Loronixer friend has additional information about this LP, let us know.

Better listen to it, a nice Jazz Bossa, very rare, even the cover artwork was difficult to grab.

Eliana Pittman not considered on a strict judgment a Brazilian Diva, however, she is Jazzy and Soulful enough to be set forgotten. Eliana is the stepdaughter of the saxophonist Booker Pittman since 11 years old. She was deeply influenced and encouraged by him to become an artist. Booker was her first music teacher, mentor and partner on some records.

Her career was notably affected by personal turbulences. Since Booker serious illness on early 70’s, she has been alternating moments of reclusion and some activity. She has also worked as an actress before releasing this great album in 1972.

Eliana trademark is her easy recognized voice, full of scats and rough enough to capture any ear. In 2001, she opened a new tour starting from Rio de Janeiro. Perhaps this was her last public appearance.
