When DVD players started getting popular in Brazil, some companies start making very cheap DVD with old movies, cartoons, documentaries, etc. Among that offer of low cost DVDs sold in newspaper stands, a company released a surprisingly good and never seen before concert recorded in Italy (1979), featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, Toquinho and Miucha. I remember it was paradise on earth, nice quality, full color and an excellent sound of a concert recorded on a very small theater with the atmosphere of a small celebration between these for great artists. This is the extracted audio, featuring 17 songs and 52 minutes of a truly amazing concert.

This is Antonio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, Toquinho e Miucha – Musicalmente (1979). As far I could search Musicalmente is the name of a TV Show in Italy where probably the concert was performed and record. This is an out of print and I’m glad to keep my copy bought by the time it was made available in Brazil. Ornella Vanoni, Vinicius de Moraes e Toquinho – La Voglia. La Pazzia, L’Incoscienza, L’Allegria (1976) | Italy

8 04 2012

Italy is the closing country of Loronix Music from All Countries first day. That’s why we need to make it stronger and solid, featuring two albums, both very requested by our community. The first one is provided by Caetano Rodrigues and a mandatory repost (now with CD quality), the collaboration between Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho with the legendary Italian singer Ornela Vanoni. The second is the requested album recorded in 1970 by Chico Buarque de Holanda and Enio Morricone. Let’s check both.

This is Ornella Vanoni, Vinicius de Moraes e Toquinho – La Voglia. La Pazzia, L’Incoscienza, L’Allegria (1976), for RGE. Ornella Vanoni is an Italian singer, born in 1934 and has the status of one of the greatest Italian music diva ever. In this LP, Ornella Vanoni sings Vinicius de Moraes repertoire with Italian lyrics and it is one of her most acclaimed works. The blending of Ornella, Vinicius and Toquinho voices is very nice with the accompaniment of Toquinho’s guitar supporting the rhythm section in most of the tracks. Thanks for this most wanted, Caetano. Tracks include:

01 – Senza Paura
02 – La Rosa Spogliata
03 – Samba della Rosa
04 – Samba in Preludio
05 – Anema e Core
06 – La Voglia La Pazzia
07 – Semaforo Rosso
08 – Assenza – Io So Che Ti Amero – Un Altro Addio
09 – L’Assente – Accendi una Luna Nel Cielo
10 – Samba per Vinicius

This is what I call timeless music, recorded in 1970; it is fresh as it was more 25 years ago. We have already shown Loronixers the collaboration between Vinicius, Maria Bethania and Toquinho, now it is time to show the most popular album from this trio, with Maria Creuza replacing Maria Bethania.

This is Vinicius de Moraes, Maria Creuza e Toquinho – En La Fusa (1970), for Trova. I don’t known how wide it is, but I always thought this album was recorded live in La Fusa nightclub, I was wrong, this is an studio recording with applauses recorded previously in La Fusa while they were performing there. I think this is the kind of a self-explanatory release, all these Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho trio editions are really above the average. Tracks include:

01 – Copa do Mundo (Tradicional)
02 – A Felicidade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 – Tomara (Vinicius de Moraes)
04 – Que Maravilha (Toquinho / Jorge Ben “Jorge Benjor”)
05 – Lamento no Morro (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 – Berimbau (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes) Consolação (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
07 – Irene (Caetano Veloso)
08 – Canto de Ossanha (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
09 – Garota de Ipanema (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
10 – Samba Em Prelúdio (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
11 – Catendê (Antônio Carlos Pinto / J. C. Figueiredo / J. Tavares)
12 – Valsa da Tunísia (Vinicius de Moraes)
13 – Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
14 – Minha Namorada (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
15 – Se Todos Fossem Iguais a Você (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)

Everyday I learn a new thing at Loronix and this week I learn something that might be obvious to everybody. I always though that La Fusa would be some Italian word, since Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho made several tours and albums in Italy. Then Caetano comes to me to say that La Fusa is a nightclub in Buenos Aires. Several puzzle pieces now matches in my mind, the anthological album, Vinicius, Toquinho e Maria Creuza em La Fusa was recorded live and Buenos Aires, La Fusa nightclub. With this knowledge, I could research something that I did not know, presented here to Loronixers.

This is Vinicius de Moraes, Maria Bethania & Toquinho – Vinicius + Bethania + Toquinho En La Fusa (1971), for Trova (Argentina). Really amazing. If you were plenty with the Maria Creuza La Fusa, now it is time to check how Maria Bethania makes it in La Fusa with Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho. I think the “Grabado en Buenos Aires” at the cover artwork is wrong, every single website I could research says that this album was recorded live in La Fusa nightclub, Mar del Plata at 25 and 26, February, 1971. You should take it for a hearing. Their performance is great. Tracks include:

Personnel

Toquinho
(violao)
Mike Ribas

Alfredo Remus
(bass)
Enrique “Zurdo” Roizner
(drums)
Cacho Gomez
(percussion)

Hello, Good Evening! What a exciting day. When arriving home I use to check Loronix usage statistics and I got surprised when I saw we are above the daily average at 6pm. We will probably have the busiest day ever; thanks to Caetano Rodrigues releases and thanks to the great Brazilian Blog do Noblat, once again calling the attention of thousands of new friends to Loronix. I’m proud of it. You can see by yourself, here. Welcome new Loronixers!

Let’s start with a video today, a special one showing a great artist and some important places in Rio, such as: Toca do Vinicius, Antonio Carlos Jobim place, anyway, thanks Luiz Harding for sending Toquinho performing Insensatez on a very beautiful video full of vintage scenes.

Hope uEnjoy!

Conseguimos o vídeo graças ao amigo bOssas nOvas.

Segue outro vídeo lindíssimo com a Alaíde Costa cantando a mesma música. Pena que ele acaba antes de terminar …

Toquinho and Sadao Watanabe. Toquinho spent some months in Japan by the end of the 80′s, making concerts with Sadao Watanabe, but I never heard about a record as the outcome of this partnership. Great surprise. This is another Sadao Watanabe connection with Brazilian. I’m really curious to get feedback from Loronixers about this album.

This is Toquinho e Sadao Wataname – Made in Coracao (1988), for EMI Odeon. When I saw this record for the first time I thought it was an instrumental album, I was wrong, Toquinho sings and most of the compositions are from Toquinho and Sadao Watanabe. They probably had a great time in this recording session; the album is relaxed and delicious to hear. Amilson Godoi is in charge of arrangements, piano and keyboards. Tracks include:

01 – Made In Coração (Toquinho)
02 – Filho Meu (Toquinho / Sadao Watanabe)
03 – O Que Passou Passou (Toquinho / Sadao Watanabe)
04 – Samba da Volta (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
05 – Inquieto Amor (Toquinho / Sadao Watanabe)
06 – Minha Profissão (Toquinho)
07 – Sentimentos Iguais (Toquinho / Sadao Watanabe)
08 – Bons Momentos (Toquinho / Sadao Watanabe)

The big butterfly stills watching me. She did not make a single move in the last four hours. I’m waiting for her next move, if there will be a move, anyway. People who monitor CBox, also known as “Quadradinho”, will remember the Loronixers Stuart, asking several times for this record, while some other friends, such like Adrian from Argentina were also urging it. Caetano had this LP on his short list to be included on the next package, but the situation is ideal to make it today.

Everybody should thank the legendary Marcelo Munhoz for this post and also the big butterfly. Marcelo just sent this record in the afternoon and as I’m not moving to pick up others albums in the house, Marcello’s contribution is handy at this time. By the way, Marcelo Munhoz is a musician and member of Sambasonics, a well-known Brazilian Samba Rock band. Marcelo / Sambasonic CD was released in Japan and is available at the Amazon link that closes this post.

This is Toquinho – Toquinho Tocando (1977), for Philips, featuring Toquinho playing instrumental music, such like his debut album for RGE. If you know Toquinho only by his collaborations with Vinicius de Moraes, it is time to get in touch with Toquinho as an acoustic guitar virtuoso surrounded by renowned musicians, such as: Dino Sete Cordas, Paulo Moura, Azeitona, Jorginho, among others. Tracks include.

01 – Caro Raul (Toquinho)
02 – O Bem-amado (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 – Regra Três (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 – Implorando (Toquinho)
05 – Suíte Argentina (Toquinho)
06 – Samba do Ausente (Toquinho / Tenório Júnior)
07 – Tarde Em Itapoã (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
08 – Camisa Molhada (Toquinho / Carlinhos Vergueiro)
09 – Choro Chorado Pra Paulinho Nogueira (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes / Paulinho Nogueira)

This post has a story behind it. I bought this record a couple of weeks ago on a very expensive price, a big amount of money, R$ 1.00 (Um Real), which is equivalent to US$ 0.47039. I’m now very happy to have it with me. When I arrived home with the LP, I opened my inbox and there was an email from Arara Azul with the same LP as a contribution. Really great coincidence. So I decided to wait some weeks until release it and it is naturally that credits for this post are to Arara Azul.

This is Maria Creuza, Toquinho e Vinicius de Moraes – Eu Sei que Vou te Amar (1972), for RGE. The records made together by these three artists are very popular and Loronixers uses to like them very much. This one has something special for me, Maria Creuza looks very beautiful on this cover, by the way, she seems to have a different look on each one of her records, I think there were several Maria Creuzas releasing LPs in Brazil. Anyway, this is the one that I like most and I hope Loronixers agree with me. Thanks Arara Azul for another nice contribution. Tracks include:

01 – Catendê (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi / I. Tavares) with Toquinho e Vinicius
02 – Se Todos Fossem Iguais a Você (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes) with Toquinho e Vinicius
03 – A Felicidade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes) with Toquinho e Vinicius
04 – Que Maravilha (Toquinho / Jorge Ben) with Toquinho e Vinicius
05 – Por Causa de Você (Tom Jobim / Dolores Duran)
06 – Saudade da Bahia (Dorival Caymmi)
07 – Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes) with Vinicius de Moraes
08 – Minha Namorada (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes) with Vinicius de Moraes
09 – Samba Em Prelúdio (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes) with Toquinho e Vinicius
10 – Estrada do Sol (Tom Jobim / Dolores Duran)
11 – Chega de Saudade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
12 – Irene (Caetano Veloso) with Toquinho e Vinicius

I think this amazing video fits very nice to this post closing. Have a nice week!

“Este concerto, gravado na Itália em Outubro de 1978 (em alguns sitios dizem que é de 1979, mas acho que essa foi a data em que passou na TV italiana), saiu em DVD com o título “Musicalmente“. O próprio Zeca disponibilizou o audio do DVD, http://loronix.blogspot.com/2007/06/antonio-carlos-jobim-vinicius-de-moraes.html

Hello, Good Night! What a hot summer day in Rio de Janeiro. I have a problem with high temperatures, maybe my blood pressure falls, I don’t known. zecalouro likes that. The days are longer, especially with daylight savings. He uses to take daily baths in summertime, he loves bath. I’m now trying to verse him on classic music and it seems he will become a great enthusiast, especially with the operas that he tries to sing together. It is awesome the extent of the parrot voice, he can do perfect the extreme soprano acute from the deepest baritone bass.

Why I’m telling this kind of story, perhaps the heat is melting my brain, anyway.

The last and first Vinicius de Moraes release was a surprise, great success and acceptance. I was reluctant to release that record, there is a sad atmosphere with that cover that disturbs me. This one is different, all about happiness, meet Vinicius de Moraes e Toquinho – Toquinho & Vinicius (1974), for Philips and produced by Paulinho Tapajos. Vinicius had a long partnership with Toquinho, releasing several records. This released why suggested by SilverSun at Loronix Forum, thanks SilverSun. Tracks include:

01 – Como É Duro Trabalhar (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 – Samba da Volta (Toquinho / Vinicius de Moraes)

Toquinho – Toquinho (1970)

Publicado em: Saturday, August 05, 2006 by zecalouro

A friend of us said that the missing piece at Loronix is Toquinho. No more, there are several other missing pieces and the fun of this business is to keep some missing slots to be completed.

zecalouro proudly presents a very early Toquinho, just on his second career LP, Toquinho – Toquinho (1970). What a nice surprise! Toquinho is strongly associated with Vinicius de Moraes on a partnership that started in 1970 and last for more than a decade. What amazes me most in this album is that Toquinho is alone here and probably doing whatever he wants on the set.

We can listen Toquinho vocals on 3 songs, Agua Negra de Lagoa, Zana e Dobrando a Esquina, Jorge Ben duets with Toquinho on the legendary song Que Maravilha and Carolina, Carol Bela. Paulinho Nogueira is also here on Bachianinha #1 playing guitar with Toquinho.

Toquinho guitar playing is powerful and can be heard out loud throughout the entire LP.
