This fantastic post will make a year at Loronix in 5 days, 25 June and I could not wait more five days to celebrate. The original post had a missing track and also a poor ripping, but with this last contribution, some already available albums were included on a pretty nice shape and it is mandatory to update the above of the average material. This is probably one of the best Milton Banana Trio albums and this is the chance to visit again or meet for the first time in case you have missed it.

This is Milton Banana Trio – Ve (1965), for Odeon, now including high quality cover scans (front and back), higher bit rate and I’m making available tomorrow loseless files, in case I forget to make it, let me know, they are on my upload queue. It is disturbing to check that the missing track was track 12 – Samba Novo, composed by Durval Ferreira and Newton Chaves. Self-explanatory album that does not need detailed introduction. Tracks include:

This is a really nice record, thanks to JimR, he is the one who let me know about it in his first week at Loronix. Sou Sem Paz is one of those legendary albums that every Brazilian music fan wants to hear, Adilson Godoy is the brother of Zimbo Trio pianist, Amylson Godoy, Maestro Erlon Chaves is in charge of arrangements and personnel listing brings top-notch musicians. Let’s see.

This is Adilson Godoy – Sou Sem Paz (1965), for RGE. Adilson Godoy plays piano and sings on his first and only LP. I have been wondering why Adilson Godoy did not move towards a successful career after releasing this nice album. In the other hand, Adilson Godoy has been an active composer since this release, with music recorded by Elis Regina, Elizeth Cardoso, Walter Wanderley, Lenita Bruno and many other renowned artists. Tracks include:

Publicado em: Tuesday, June 19, 2007 by zecalouro

Hello, Good Evening! I was organizing and cleaning the LPs received on both recent donations to Loronix and I had a surprise. In the middle of a double LP — since the beginning heavier than the average — I could find enclosed this 10-Inch, not a regular one, just the first LP recorded by Leny Eversong in 1955, an artist that always receives acclamations by Loronixers with a lot of downloads on each release. Let’s see.

This is Leny Eversong – A Voz de Leny Eversong (1955), for Copacabana. I wrote an email to the collaborator asking permission for posting and directions to return it to her and she said it was a special surprise to Loronixers. I think we need to say a big thanks to her; this album was the first LP recorded by Leny Eversong featuring orchestra accompaniment and arrangements by Maestro Gaya and Maestro Guerra Peixe on tracks “Otindere”, “Mae de Ouro” and “Lamento tupi”. We are close to cover complete Leny Eversong discography; Caetano Rodrigues is including some surprises on his next package to Loronixers. Tracks include:

01 – Lamento Tupi (Leny Eversong / Maria Silvia)
02 – El Cumbanchero (Rafael Hernandez) Tierra Va Tembla (Mariano Meceron) “Canto Afro-Cubano”
03 – Na Baixa do Sapateiro (Ary Barroso)
04 – Mãe de Ouro (Zé do Norte)
05 – Jezebel (Shanklin)

We cannot go wrong with this album, sent two months ago by a non-identified collaborator. Don’t let the cover artwork cheats you; this is not a compilation that can be evaluated at a first sight. Let’s see what we have inside.

This is Os Cariocas – Mestres da MPB (1994), for Warner Music. Mestres da MBP was a series of compilations released by Warner to take advantage of the CD age by remastering old analogy tapes to digital format. Everybody asks me to gather the old Os Cariocas 78 rpm recordings, but they are quite impossible to find and this post address this issue bringing some remastered songs released on those recordings. This cover artworks is also of not showing Os Cariocas as a quintet, instead of the usual quartet formation. Thanks collaborator for the nice cover scans and autographs. Tracks include:

Fantastic album. Sorry for my enthusiasm, but this record really deserves our attention. Moacyr Peixoto known discography has just a few albums, most of them very hard to find and this one was not listed on my hunting list. Jeito Brasileiro | Brazilian Way was issued by Projeto MFS – which I do not know if it is a record label or a marketing initiative – on a very limited number of copies and never made available commercially. Moacyr Peixoto was a pioneer on blending Jazz and Samba influences together, delivering instrumental music as we know by Samba Jazz, which is all about this post.

This is Moacyr Peixoto Trio – Jeito Brasileiro | Brazilian Way (1996), for Projeto MFS, the last album recorded by the legendary Brazilian Jazz pianist Moacyr Peixoto, delivering seventeen Samba Jazz renditions of Brazilian classics. I think I said everything you should know at the first paragraph, stay with Moacyr Peixoto Trio, personnel and track list. Tracks include:

PersonnelMoacyr Peixoto
(piano)
Lito Robledo
(bass)
Magno Bissoli Siqueira
(drums)

Track List

01 – Nao me Diga Adeus
02 – A Voz do Morro

Trio Surdina & Baiao Nr. 2 – Two Musidisc 10-Inches (1953)

Link original: Trio Surdina & Baiao Nr. 2 – Two Musidisc 10-Inches (1953)
Publicado em: Monday, June 18, 2007 by zecalouro

I would like to make something different now by showing two very old and nice 10-inch records released by Musidisc in 1953. The first, everybody known the group and musicians, the legendary Trio Surdina with their original formation, featuring Fafa Lemos, Chiquinho do Acordeon and Garoto on a tribute album to Dorival Caymmi and Noel Rosa. The second has three different main performers fitting on the small 10-inch media, Tres Marias, Leal Brito and Catulo de Paula, which is an artist requested by Loronixers. Let’s see the first with a single download link for both at the end.

This is Trio Surdina – Trio Surdina Interpreta Noel Rosa e Dorival Caymmi (1953), for Musidisc, with the four tracks of side A dedicated to Dorival Caymmi and the others of side B to Noel Rosa. Tracks include:

Personnel

Fafa Lemos
(violin, voice)
Chiquinho do Acordeon
(accordion)
Garoto
(violao)

Track List

01 – Nem Eu (Dorival Caymmi)
02 – O Que É Que a Baiana Tem (Dorival Caymmi)
03 – O Mar (Dorival Caymmi)
04 – Não Tem Solução (Dorival Caymmi / Carlos Guinle)
05 – Fita Amarela (Noel Rosa)
06 – Três Apitos (Noel Rosa)
07 – Conversa de Botequim (Noel Rosa / Vadico)
08 – Com Que Roupa (Noel Rosa)

Our second Musidisc 10-inch feature three artists on a single album, As Tres Marias, a renowned female vocal trio in the 40’s to 50’s, the pianist Leal Brito, accompanied by a sextet and Catulo de Paula, making his debut on recordings.

This is Tres Marias, Leal Brito e Catulo de Paula – Baiao Nr. 2 (1953), for Musidisc. The kind of music you will hear at Baiao Nr. 2 is really disconnected with the “modern” Bossa Nova times we know up to the late 50’s until today. Tracks include:

01 – Onda do Mar (Leal Brito / Paulo Soledade) – TRES MARIAS
02 – Chuveu to Vortando (Catulo de Paula / Carlos Galindo) – CATULO DE PAULA
03 – Celeste no Baiao (Nilo Sergio) – LEAL BRITO

Publicado em: Monday, June 18, 2007 by zecalouro

Hello, Good Evening! Let’s start this Monday, how can I say, “classy”, showing an album issued by the legendary record label Nilser, Musidisc subsidiary. Nilser was Nilo Sergio creation for the “De Luxe” albums, featuring nice and really unique covers with that circular opening that reveals part of a beautiful picture inside. It is impossible to show via Internet, but Nilser covers do not bend easily, they are made from a very tough material. Let’s see what Nilo Sergio delivers on his first solo LP at Loronix.

This is Nilo Sergio – Danca e Romance (1962), for Nilser. Some websites credit Nilo Sergio Sua Orquestra e Vozes as the main performer of Danca e Romance, however, I could not find a single reference written on any piece of this album. Do not let the title “Danca e Romance” cheats you, this album has some very nice Samba songs performed by a male singer, probably Pedrinho Rodrigues, although some friends credit crooner participation as Orlan Divo. Anyway, you will have now the chance to check this out, hearing this nice piece. Tracks include:

01 – Vai Menina (Nilo Sergio)
02 – Quiereme Mucho (Gonzalo Roig)
03 – Ranchero (Nilo Sergio)
04 – I’ve Got You Under My Skin (Cole Porter)
05 – Moon River (J. Mercer / Henry Mancini)
06 – Lolita Ya Ya (Harris / Riddle)
07 – Hymne à L’amour (Edith Piaf / Marguerite Monnot)
08 – Tonight (S. Sondheim / L. Bernstein)
09 – Dos Perdidos (Nilo Sergio)
10 – El Manisero (Moisés Simons)
11 – Em Las Vegas (Nilo Sergio)
12 – I Could Have Danced All Night (A. J. Lerner / F. Loewe)

Baden Powell – Poema on Guitar (1967)

Publicado em: Monday, June 18, 2007 by zecalouro

Everybody who loves the music from Brazil is with a little sadness inside and I’m also feeling tired, by this not usual day. We must go on. I would not think twice moving forward with a instrumental guitar album recorded by Baden Powell taking the help of the folks of Brazil-on-Guitar, I could not make better than BOG to describe Poema on Guitar, which is considered one of the best instrumental only Baden Powell album in the 60’s.

This is Baden Powell – Poema on Guitar (1967), for Saba. Brazil-on-Guitar says: “In 1967 BP recorded his first album in Germany: Poema On Guitar. It was his second record on the SABA label and again JEB was the producer. What can be said about Tristeza on Guitar can be found on this record, too. Both are among his best instrumental recordings of the sixties.

After his appearance in the Berlin Jazz days on November 5th JEB organised first class musicians for the recording sessions: Eberhard Weber on bass, Sidney Smith on flute and Charly Antolini on drums. BP was so impressed with this rhythm group that he wanted to return to Germany to record more with them. But only in 1971 he recorded two albums with the well appreciated Eberhard Weber.

A possible interpretation of this record can be done on the selection and order of the songs: it could be seen as personal reminiscence of Sylvia Telles, who died on December 17th 1966. Feitinha, the girl, followed by Dindi, dedicated to her, Consolacao, comfort and melancholy Tristeza e Solidao.

On the second side there are baroque elements combined with Jazz: Samba triste, BP’s first hit in Brazil and his opening piece in the Berlin Jazz days, Euridice, calling from the realm of the dead, All the things you are, in a very beautiful arrangement for accoustic guitar, and Reza, a prayer, sung in 1966 by Edu Lobo in the last tour with Sylvia Telles.

In Japan POG was released in 1999 on CD in the known high quality. On the sampler “Three originals” (1993) can be found the entire record. It is however split on two CDs, but follows the original side change of the LP.”

Tracks include:

Personnel

Baden Powell
(guitar)
Sidney Smith
(flute)
Eberhard Weber
(bass)
Charly Antolini
(drums)

Track List

01 – Feitinha Pro Poeta (Baden Powell / Luis Fernando Freire)
02 – Dindi (Tom Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira)
03 – Consolação (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 – Tristeza e Solidão (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
05 – Samba Triste (Baden Powell / Billy Blanco)
06 – Valsa de Eurídice (Vinicius de Moraes)
07 – All The Things You Are (J. Kerr / O. Hammerstein II)
08 – Reza (Edu Lobo / Ruy Guerra)

In this sad day for the music from Brazil, I did my best with Caetano and others very collaborative friends on making available a tribute to the passing of Durval Ferreira. We made a compilation with compositions and Durval Ferreira performing as musician using the two LPs recorded by Os Gatos, the first two Tamba Trios and also Sergio Mendes with Cannonball Ardley – Bossa Nova. Dick Farney & Claudette Soares – Tudo Isto e Amor (1976)

Publicado em: Sunday, June 17, 2007 by zecalouro

It is disappointing when you do not give value to something based on personal criterion and mannerisms or taking the others opinion and the truth. That’s exactly what happened with the first collaboration between Dick Farney and Claudette Soares, Tudo Isto e Amor, Volume One. I thought Volume Two – made available a couple of weeks ago at Loronix – was the best album and I’m shamed to realize this week that Volume One is several times better than the previous one. Volume one is really nice and I decided to show it today to Loronixers, perhaps I feel better on making it.

This is Dick Farney & Claudette Soares – Tudo Isto e Amor (1976), for Odeon. Better repertoire, beautiful arrangements and breathtaking performances in duo or solo by Dick Farney and Claudette Soares. I have been reading today several reviews and this album is highly recommended, no exception. Dick Farney makes a fascinating rendition of Tenderly (Lawrence / Gross), made available bellow as a teaser showing Farney interpretations on top of images of Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of the last century. Tracks include:

01 – O Que É Amar (Johnny Alf)
02 – Minha Namorada (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 – Este Seu Olhar (Tom Jobim)
04 – De Você Eu Gosto (Tom Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira)
05 – É Preciso Dizer Adeus (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 – Castigo (Dolores Duran)
07 – Tudo Isto É Amor (Laura Maria)
08 – Fotografia (Tom Jobim)

Walter Wanderley – Sucessos + Boleros = Walter Wanderley (1966)

This is the first out of a series of contributions from a real friend with a real name, Meia Beats, musician (piano), producer, living in Brazil South, city of Caxias do Sul. Meia Beats starts with a widely unknown Walter Wanderley LP released in Brazil by Philips. I have been hunting this album for months with no information about, never seeing this cover artwork also. Thanks for this really hard to find Walter Wanderley album. You can meet Meia Beats at his website, here.

This is Walter Wanderley – Sucessos + Boleros = Walter Wanderley (1966), for Philips. Perhaps this is the last Walter Wanderley release in Brazil before moving to US for releasing his first international album with Astrud Gilberto. Sucessos + Boleros = Walter Wanderley repeats the formula used at Walter Wanderley – Walter Wanderley e o Bolero (1962), for Odeon and it is one of the most dark and shady Walter Wanderley albums I have ever heard, an item for completionists, we are many. Tracks include:

01 – Que C’est Triste Venise (Dorin / Charles Aznavour) Ma Vie (Alain Barrière)
02 – Oferenda (Jair Amorim / Evaldo Gouveia) Sentimental Demais (Jair Amorim / Evaldo Gouveia)
03 – Il Mondo (Fontana / Meccia / Pess)
04 – Amor Eterno (Édson Borges / Alfredo Borba) O Preço de Uma Vida (Erlon Chaves)
05 – Charade (Mercer / Henry Mancini) Just For Tonight (H. Carmichael / Mercer)
06 – Forget Domani (R. Ortolani / N. Newell)
07 – Red Roses For a Blue Lady (Tepper / Brodsky)
08 – Aquellos Ojos Verdes (N. Menendez) Maria Helena (Barcelata)
09 – Preciso Aprender a Ser Só (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle) La Barca (Roberto Cantoral)

Oscar Castro Neves & Paul Winter – Brazilian Days (1998)

Oscar Castro Neves, I think there is no better closing to a day that started with Ella Fitzgerald and complemented with the great Chiquinho do Acordeon. I have been with this album for a long time that has gone out of print for unexplainable reasons. One of the most successful videos at Loronix was Oscar Castro Neves performance at Ramsey Lewis Legends of Jazz Show and now we will double it, presenting Oscar collaboration with Paul Winter, Brazilian Days and another excerpt of that show, with Ivan Lins and Ramsey Lewis at the piano.

This is Oscar Castro Neves & Paul Winter – Brazilian Days (1998), for Living Music. Twelve Bossa Nova numbers recorded in duo with Oscar Castro Neves guitar and Paul Winter on sax. Self-explanatory music, the duo has the accompaniment of two Brazilian musicians, the bassist Nilson da Matta and drummer Paulo Braga, delivering a more than adequate rhythm section to overall record. Do not miss the awesome video bellow.

Tracks include:

01 – Aula De Matemática (Tom Jobim / Marino Pinto)
02 – Coisa Mais Linda (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 – Feitio De Oração (Vadico / Noel Rosa)
04 – Feio Não É Bonito (Carlos Lyra / Gianfrancesco Guarnieri)
05 – Minha Namorada (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 – Também Quem Mandou (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
07 – Ana Luisa (Tom Jobim)
08 – Feitiço Da Vila (Vadico / Noel Rosa)
09 – Canto Triste (Edu Lobo / Vinicius de Moraes)
10 – Imagem (Luis Eça / Aloysio de Oliveira)
11 – Por Causa De Você (Tom Jobim / Dolores Duran)
12 – Se É Tarde Me Perdoa (Carlos Lyra / Ronaldo Bôscoli)

Hello, Good Evening! Today, Caetano reminds us another important day, the passing of “The First Lady of Song”, the greatest female Jazz singer of all times, the Queen of Jazz, the legendary Ella Fitzgerald, eleven years ago. Loronix small celebration is based on the most Brazilian album among hundreds recorded by Ella Fitzgerald, her tribute to Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ella Embraces Jobim with The Queen delivering Jobim Song Book, just as she did before to the renowned cast of composers from the last Century.

This is Ella Fitzgerald – Ela Abraca Jobim | Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Antonio Carlos Jobim Songbook (1980), for Pablo. This album is of a great importance to Brazilian music, Ella Fitzgerald and Norman Ganz — Fitzgerald producer for decades — made this songbook as just as they did the previous ones, leveling Antonio Carlos Jobim to the same plateau given to (in order of Ella Songbooks release) Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Duke Ellington, Irvin Berlin, Harold Arlen, Jerome Kern and Johnny Mercer. Caetano Rodrigues has a special care on dates, I can say he is my personal special dates consultant. He made a phone call today to remind me of a special date, really special by the way, today, 14th June, landmarks the passing of the great Maestro Henry Mancini 14 years ago. We take a lot of time thinking on a homage to Henry Mancini, while the solution was in front of us and already available at Loronix, one of our favorite records, a constellation of Brazilian music on studio making jazzy renditions of Henry Mancini repertoire. This is what I consider an essential.

This is Mancini Tambem e Samba (1962) for Mocambo. I don’t know what is the story behind this recording session, seems to me that these guys made a fan tribute to Henry Mancini, taking the studio by assault to record these twelve breathtaking Henry Mancini songs on top of Jazz and Samba rhythms. Since then, he is an active producer with other several different roles. Quando Sera? is perhaps is better-known album that you will need to hear several times until you get the whole of it. There is a crazy story behind today’s last post. I would never remember to make this album again, which is one of the essentials records available at Loronix, released in the very beginning. If you get along with Loronix this year or in the end of last year, you will probably did not notice, since it is available far away on a given week between June or July, 2007. This is a required record on every Brazilian music collection and a mandatory update, now with high quality scans and ripping. The story, well, I’m not sure if I can tell Loronixers, so I will tell later on.

This is Edu Lobo – A Musica de Edu Lobo por Edu Lobo | Com a Participacao do Tamba Trio (1965), for Elenco. A detailed liner notes wrote by Aloysio de Oliveira defines this set, which is Edu Lobo debut LP. Tamba Trio delivers accompaniment and some backing vocals with Luiz Eca in charge of arrangements. I cannot wait to hear again the first track, Boranda, that alone worth the entire album. All songs are Edu Lobo compositions. Tracks include:

Personnel

Quarteto Excelsior – Coquetel Dancante Nr. 1 (1957)

24 04 2012

Link original: Quarteto Excelsior – Coquetel Dancante Nr. 1 (1957)
Publicado em: Wednesday, June 13, 2007 by zecalouro

This is the first out of a series of really unique LPs, mainly Brazilian instrumental music from the late 50’s and 60’s. The source of this series comes from another donation to Loronix, made by someone that lives in Rio de Janeiro and this is the only thing I know about. It was just a matter of exchanging three or four emails to receive a box of twelve LPs dropped by someone at my building Lobby.

I decided to start with this one, recorded in 1957 – which is before Bossa Nova – and with a lot of Bossa Nova on it. This album confirms that Bossa Nova creation was a jointly work forged by several Brazilian artists, such as Quarteto Excelsior, a very well arranged and wonderfully played album with a cool male singing, very similar to that one we know as Bossa Nova way of singing.

This is Quarteto Excelsior – Coquetel Dancante Nr. 1 (1957), for RCA Victor. I will be straightforward, personnel listing is enough to explain this release, but I want to highlight Maestro Zaccarias, delivering solid clarinet solos and singing on a surprising and smooth voice for that time and Fats Elpidio, a legendary Brazilian pianist with a few albums already available at Loronix. Tracks includes:

PersonnelMaestro Zaccarias
(clarinet, voice)
Fats Elpidio
(piano)
Bill
(bass)
Romeu
(drums, vocals)

Track List

01 – Baião do Lavrador (Valdrido Silva / Zaccarias)
02 – Abre a Janela (Roberto Roberti / Arlindo Marques Júnior)
03 – Lá no Norte (Gilvan Chaves)
04 – Tiradentes (Estanislau Silva / Penteado / Décio Carlos)
05 – Pau-de-arara (Luis Gonzaga / Guio de Morais)
06 – Batuque no Morro (Russo do Pandeiro / Sá Róris)
07 – The Very Thought Of You (R. Noble) Love Me Tender (Elvis Presley / V. Matsen) Anastasia (Paul Francis Webster / A. Newman)
08 – Petticoats Of Portugal (Durso / Mitabel) Angustia (Orlando de Brito) Esperame En El Cielo (Francisco Lopez Vidal “Paquito”) Que Murmuren (R. Fuentes / R. Cardenas)
09 – You’re Sensational (Cole Porter) I Love You Samantha (Cole Porter) True Love (Cole Porter)

Publicado em: Wednesday, June 13, 2007 by zecalouro

Hello, Good Evening! Mr. E., please, stop torturing us… I cannot stand longer… Just kidding. I feel like tortured when Mr. E. comes to my mailbox saying “I’m working on a new surprise for the next week…” I cannot wait quiet until the “surprises” reaches my hands, because I know it is always amazing. Take this one as the perfect example, a new Brazilian female singer, pretty unknown to everybody with orchestra and conjunto support lead by the legendary Moacyr Silva. Thanks Mr. E.

This is Mara Silva – Sucessos em Teleco-Teco (1962), for Copacabana. Little is known about this new singer. Mara Silva recorded several 78RPMs from the early 50’s, until this first and only LP for Copacabana. She was also a composer, performing her own compositions on several 78RPMs. This is a lovely Samba album with Moacyr Silva in charge of production and performing with Sua Orquestra e Conjunto, Maestro Diogo Pacheco — Pachequinho — is in charge of all arrangements. If someone has additional information about Mara Silva, please let us know about. Tracks include:

01 – Tudo Cabe Num Beijo
02 – Frio Em Minh’alma
03 – Alguém Me Disse
04 – Desesperadamente
05 – Rosa de Maio
06 – Pecado
07 – Vereda Tropical

Elizeth Cardoso – A Meiga Elizeth (1960)

23 04 2012

Link original: Elizeth Cardoso – A Meiga Elizeth (1960)
Publicado em: Wednesday, June 13, 2007 by zecalouro

I’m very proud of being the owner of the original Copacabana 1960 issue of this album, by the way, I was missing Copacabana label at Loronix, their covers are always original and beautiful and perhaps Copacabana had probably the best cast of artists in the late 50’s and early 60s. This album was reissued in CD by EMI, which is the owner of Cobacabana legacy and has gone recently out of print.

I have also an assumption to make regarding this album, I’m quite sure that Walter Wanderley is the organist, the Hammond B3 organ is played exactly the way you expect from Walter Wanderley. If anybody has this info, please let us know.

This is Elizeth Cardoso – A Meiga Elizeth (1960), for Copacabana. A Meiga Elizeth was one of the most successful Elizeth Cardoso records, which is probably the reason of the “Meiga Elizeth” series creation. Moacyr Silva delivers always-nice musical and production direction, playing his sax tenor in some tracks. Caetano highly recommends this album and it is very difficult to hear such appreciation from his selective musical taste. I hope Loronixers also enjoy Elizeth Cardoso. Leave comments, please or rate this album at our new rating system. Tracks include:

01 – Vai Querer (Hianto de Almeida / Fernando Lobo)
02 – Projeção (Luis Reis / Haroldo Barbosa)
03 – A Noite do Meu Bem (Dolores Duran)
04 – Não Diga Nada (Carlito / Noacy de Marcenes)
05 – Tentação do Inconveniente (Manoel da Conceição / Augusto Mesquita)
06 – Tome Continha de Você (Édson Borges / Dolores Duran)
07 – Nossos Momentos (Luis Reis / Haroldo Barbosa)
08 – Sincopado Triste (Hianto de Almeida / Macedo Neto)
09 – Canção de Nós Dois (Vinicius de Moraes)
10 – Notícia de Jornal (Luis Reis / Haroldo Barbosa)
11 – Pela Rua (Ribamar (1) / Dolores Duran)
12 – Pra Quê (Ruy Rey / Emílio Batista)

Here we go on with something different from Loronix as usual, but truly great. This album features two Brazilian acoustic guitar legends, Raphael Rabello and Romero Lubambo, performing together with no support band, on an acoustic guitar only duo album. Raphael Rabello and Romero Lubambo do not need a detailed introduction, both have worldwide recognition, Raphael Rabello by his recognition as a virtuoso and Romero Lubambo by his extense discography and collaborations in several others artists albums.

This is Romero Lubambo & Raphael Rabello – Shades of Rio (1992), for Chesky Records. Shades of Rio was recorded in New York, USA in October 1992 and produced by David Chesky and Norman Chesky, I could not identify on my research if there is a Brazilian issue available and for my surprise a friend of mine, great fan of Raphael Rabello, did not know this album existence. Anyway, Raphael Rabello and Romero Lubambo are also in charge of all arrangements. Tracks include:

Hello, Good Evening! Loronix is having a great traffic today, really above the average, I was wondering perhaps this is some kind of Valentine Day effect with boys and girls selecting music to spend the night today. Anyway, Mr. E. sent this great surprise to Loronixers, not specific to this event, a album recorded in 1960 that probably is the first karaoke record in history. I’m only guessing, I did not check this information. Let’s see what Mr. E. sent to us.

This is Voce e o Artista (1960), for Philips. Six songs organize this record, an artist performs each song, they are, Vera Lucia, Carlos Lyra, Sonia Delfino, Lucio Alves, Sylvia Telles and Lais. Let’s take Lucio Alves as example, Lucio performs Dindi, speaks some words before the song and sings, the following track is the same song and same accompaniment with no singing, Lucio’s voice was not mixed. You should not miss this unique LP with performances recorded for the occasion. Aloysio de Oliveira is in charge and probably is the owner of the whole idea. Thanks Mr. E. for this piece. Tracks include:

This should make the day of Caetano Rodrigues, Patricia Prado, bossanovadreamer, Mr. H, Loronixers and everybody who patiently waited for this release, no more a missing piece. I’m glad to have now a near mint vinyl, taken from a store on that “everything is One Real” shelf. Caetano strongly recommends this late Pery Ribeiro LP, although I’m not knowledgeable on his discography, I had a nice time hearing it. Let’s see what we have here.

This is Pery Ribeiro – Bronzes e Cristais (1976), for Odeon, truly, one of the best Pery Ribeiro LPs from his pos-Bossa Nova age. This is a really unique post, sent by an anonymous contributor that unfortunately did not left any contact information at Mail Big File transaction. I could not believe when I opened the package and found the legendary Flying Banana, a trio assembled in the late 70’s that recorded this self-titled LP for Philips and then disappear. Reviewers say these guys make rock rural and folk, but I believe they are much more, the blend everything we know as music from Brazil in several decades. You should make a try on this first and only Flying Banana release, truly amazing.

This is Flying Banana – Flying Banana (1977), for Philips, featuring the leader Passoca (voice, violao), Carlao (violao, voice) and Be (cavaquinho, voice). Little is known about Flying Banana, except Passoca further activities, perhaps the only who could sustain a musical career after the group ending. This is good music to everybody; do not forget to feedback us on this not usual release. Tracks include:
