Caetano Veloso - A Bossa De Caetano

Hello, good evening! I think you should now be asking yourself why zeca is publishing an album released so early in 2000, which is a baby, according with regular Loronix releases, focused on much older music from the 50’s to the 80’s.

The answer is quite simple, this album is out of print and it is really a treat, featuring Caetano Veloso Bossa Nova repertoire, taken from his releases from 1967 to 1999. Additionally, this is a lovely album and Caetano Veloso celebrates today, 07 August, his 66th anniversary. I’m a big fan of Caetano Veloso, one of the artists that most influenced my way of thinking Brazilian popular music. Happy Birthday, Caetano. Let’s see.

This is Caetano Veloso – A Bossa de Caetano (2000), for Philips, featuring fourteen Caetano Veloso Bossa Nova cuts, including compositions of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, Carlos Lyra, Marcos Valle, Joao Gilberto, and others. Only two Caetano Veloso compositions are available here. My very difficult choice to Loronix Preview Center is 13 – Oba, La, La – Bim, Bom, Joao Gilberto compositions. Tracks include:

01 – Summer Samba (Samba de Verao) (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
02 – Chega De Saudade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 – Desde Que O Samba e Samba (Caetano Veloso)
04 – Coisa Mais Linda (Carlos Lyra / Vinicius de Moraes)
05 – Get Out Of Town (Cole Porter)
06 – Quando Eu Penso Na Bahia (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
07 – Chuvas de Verao (Fernando Lobo)
08 – Lindeza (Caetano Veloso)
09 – Chora Tua Tristeza (Oscar Castro Neves / Luvercy Fiorini)
10 – Nega Maluca (Fernando Lobo / Evaldo Ruy) Billie Jean (Michael Jackson) Eleanor Rigby (John Lennon / Paul McCartney)
11 – Dindi (Tom Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira) Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
12 – Samba e Amor (Chico Buarque)
13 – Oba-la-la (Joao Gilberto) Bim Bom (Joao Gilberto)
14 – Na Baixa Do Sapateiro (Ary Barroso)

Dear zecalouro,

As usual, your posts are a pure delight.

I want to mention though that for the last couple of months or so, a funny problem occurs with the mp3 files. They cause iTunes on my Mac a lot of problems. When I add a cover image, it doesn’t display. ITunes takes a really long time to accept the files, then the playback pauses for a really long time between songs etc.

I suspect it has something to do with the ID tags. I noticed that they are set to ID3v2.4.0 and ID3v1.1… It’s a mystery to me. I get mp3 (and AAC) files from a lot of different sources, but only the ones from you cause these problems. And only in the last month or two …

Ultimately I always have to convert you mp3s to AIFF files and re-rip.

Any idea what you are doing differently these days?

Otherwise, thanks for a wonderful blog!

Hey Joe,

Nothing has changed since April 2008 in terms of the utilities used to make the mp3 files.

In fact, this one is different for the others, it was created almost a year ago.

I’m afraid you need to manage this situation by yourself, unless this problem occurs with many other friends. If there is something you can add on top of what you already said, it helps.

Kind regards,

Thank you! Graciously
