Joao Bosco & Aldir Blanc - Nova Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira (1976)

Here we go on another Nova Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira album, a series that Loronixers always give good feedback. Loronix is not aiming to release the whole set of albums, but the ones that really worth our attention, such like this one, featuring this very important duo of Brazilian songwriters. Let’s see.

This is Joao Bosco & Aldir Blanc – Nova Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira (1976), for Abril Cultural. Different from yesterday, where Sergio Ricardo performed all songs, we have special guests at this edition, Elis Regina, performing three tracks and Ademilde Fonseca. It is truly amazing the feedback given to Ademilde Fonseca on two recently released records. I admit that she was not on my radar and if there is someone who should receive credits for the recent Ademilde Fonseca posts is Elso Legey, he was the first to shout out loud at CBox for an Ademilde Fonseca album. It is hard to believe that Ademilde Fonseca released only a few records on a career that spans decades. This album was recorded in 1975 and follows immediately Choros Famosos (1962), a hiatus of 13 years on recordings. Let’s see.

This is Ademilde Fonseca – A Rainha do Chorinho (1975), for Top Tape, featuring Ademilde Fonseca chorinho standards with some new compositions, including Titulos de Nobreza “Ademilde no Choro” written by Joao Bosco and Aldir Blanc as a gift to Ademilde Fonseca. I think this album is a real find, a breathtaking constellation of Brazilian musicians were in this session, and among many other surprises, I got really amazed with the open tune, Choro Chorao, a choro composition by the Samba legend Martinho da Vila. I think Loronixers will also be amazed with this really nice album, it seems that everybody likes Ademilde Fonseca. Tracks include:

Personnel

Menezes
(bandolim)
Abel Ferreira
(clarinet)
Netinho
(sax soprano)
Copinha, Geraldo, Altamiro Carrilho, Jorginho

Ademilde Fonseca was recently introduced to Loronixers, and the feedback given was better than my best estimates. Ademilde Fonseca is considered one of the major artists of Chorinho style, which is Choro with lyrics, such Brasileirinho (Waldyr Azevedo) a famous song on both instrumental and sung renditions. Let’s see what Ademilde Fonseca brings to Loronixers this time.

This is Ademilde Fonseca – A La Miranda (1958), for Odeon, the first album recorded by Ademilde Fonseca in the 12-inch format. A La Miranda is a tribute to Carmem Miranda with Ademilde Fonseca renditions to popular tunes performed by Carmem Miranda, a short set with a running time of 29 minutes, but it seems we have much more, Ademilde Fonseca sings really fast, as I never heard. This will be a real treat to Ademilde Fonseca and Chorinho style fans. Tracks include:

01 – Camisa Listada (Assis Valente)
02 – O Tic-tac do Meu Coração (Alcir Romero / Walfrido Silva)
03 – Diz Que Tem (Haníbal Cruz / Vicente Paiva)
04 – Polichinelo (Almanir Grego / Osvaldo Chaves Ribeiro)
05 – Uva de Caminhão (Assis Valente)
06 – Disso É Que Eu Gosto (Vicente Paiva / Luis Peixoto)
07 – Recenseamento (Assis Valente)
08 – Coração (Sinval Silva)
09 – E o Mundo Não Se Acabou (Assis Valente)
10 – Me Dá Me Dá (Cícero Nunes / Portello Juno)
11 – Roseira Branca (Gadé / Walfrido Silva)
12 – Cachorro Vira-lata (Alberto Ribeiro)
13 – Adeus Batucada (Sinval Silva)

This is to address a very old request made by Loronixers since the beginning, an album by Ademilde Fonseca, notably the best Brazilian interpreter of Chorinhos, which are well-known instrumental Choros with lyrics. Actually, this is something that I learned with Loronix, the difference between Choro and Chorinho. Choro does not have lyrics; Choro is instrumental music, while Chorinhos are well-known Choros with Lyrics. Let’s see.

This is Ademilde Fonseca – Choros Famosos (1960), for Philips, featuring a very well selected repertoire of Choros performed by Ademilde Fonseca. I think it will be very nice to hear how Ademilde Fonseca sings classics like Tico-Tico no Fuba, Apanhei-te Cavaquinho, Carinhoso, Delicado and several other Choro standards. Choro Famosos has Vadico as musical director. I urge Loronixers to feedback this release, since it is the first in the style. Tracks include:

01 – Tico-tico no fubá (Eurico Barreiros / Zequinha de Abreu)
02 – Sonhando (K-Ximbinho)
03 – Dinorah (B.Lacerda / Viuva Cacilda L. Porto)
04 – Apanhei-te cavaquinho (B.Lacerda / D.Oliveira / Ernesto Nazareth)
05 – Pedacinhos do céu (Miguel Lima / Waldir Azevedo)
06 – Sonoroso (Del Loro / K-Ximbinho)
07 – Flor do abacate (Felippe Tedesco / Álvaro Sandim)
08 – O que vier eu traço (Zé Maria / Alvaiade)
09 – Comigo é assim (José Menezes / Luiz Bittencourt)
10 – Carinhoso (Pixinguinha / João de Barro)
11 – Doce melodia (Abel Ferreira / Luiz Antônio)
12 – Delicado (Ary Vieira / Waldir Azevedo)
.
