Hello, good evening! I had 10 when this album was released in 1975, and after decades, I know by heart this title track, Ossos do Oficio. I can also remember the lyrics of their most popular songs released on their previous albums, since 1971, such like, Voce Abusou, Toro de Lagrimas, Desacato and Mudei de Ideia. This is just to make you understand the great popularity this duo had in the beginning of the 1970’s. Pop stars, internationally recognized as icons of a decade, not only for his music, but also by their attitude, way of dressing and so on. Let’s see.

This is Antonio Carlos e Jocafi – Ossos do Oficio (1975), for RCA Victor, featuring Ossos do Oficio, one of the most famous Antonio Carlos e Jocafi tune. I take a look today at Antonio Carlos e Jocafi albums availability at Amazon and I was surprised to do not see a single career album available for purchase. Correct if I’m wrong, but Ossos do Oficio never had a CD reissue and it is probably unknown for many friends. Once again, RCA Victor excels, delivering a very well recorded album, arranged and performed by renowned musicians. Tracks include:

I have a loyal assistance that comes daily to my place and helps a lot on housekeeping matters. After some “handling” issues, now she understand that make a pile of vinyl to pick objects out of her reach and putting LPs out of the house for a sun bath are not a good idea.

Then she started to get interest on things and making answers. She found this one a couple of days ago and got very interesting on hearing the boys. That’s what I did with zeca some days later and it was enough to consider it to Loronix. When I mention with Caetano today my desire to make this one happen, he said it is a really hard to find on vinyl and some other things I will summarize bellow.

This is Antonio Carlos e Jocafi – Definitivamente (1974), for RCA Victor, the forth Antonio Carlos e Jocafi Career LP, an extremely popular duo from the early 70’s in Brazil. After the great start with the celebrated – and already available at Loronix – Mudei de Ideia, Definitivamente is notably a turning point in their discography, where Antonio Carlos e Jocafi takes a pop approach with sweet ballads. However, Definitivamente cannot be considered a minor release, the music is great, they put some folk and regional influences blending very well with their style. Maria Creuza – Antonio Carlos wife by that time – puts her voice in one track. Take also a special attention to Toro de Lagrimas, a big hit in Brazil. Tracks include:

Personnel

Helio Belmiro, Leonardo Bruno (05)
(violao, guitar)
Paulinho
(drums)
Luizao
(bass)
Neco
(cavaquinho)
Hermes, Everaldo, Gilberto D’Avila
(percussion)
Nenem
(cuica)
Rildo Hora
(harmonica)
Gilson Peranzzetta, Jose Roberto Bertrami
(piano, keyboards)

Track List

02 – Alarme Falso (Antônio Carlos / Jocafi)
03 – Chuculatêra (Antônio Carlos / Jocafi)

Antonio Carlos & Jocafi, nice Brazilian dudes who made a real noise in the 70’s with several songs on top of the charts. I do not know who is Antonio Carlos and Jocafi at the picture, but if you were in Brazil in 1971 and 1972, you probably heard until get exausted their top hit, Voce Abusou, which is the opening track of their debut LP, Antonio Carlos & Jocafi – Mudei de Ideia (1971).

There are several crazy stories about this duet, I will tell you one: this song that never gets out of your head – Voce Abusou – got a tremendous success in France with the name of Fais comme l’oiseau and was adopted as the hmny by a French politica party. I cannot remember exactly which party, but the French composer who made the version did not give credits to Antonio Carlos & Jocafi. They went to court successfully against the French composer. I think you should not miss this release. Tracks include:

01 – Você Abusou (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
02 – Se Quiser Valer (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
03 – Kabaluerê (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
04 – Conceição da Praia (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
05 – Hipnose (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
06 – Mudei de Idéia (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
07 – Desacato (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
08 – Quem vem La (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
09 – Nord West (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi / Alberto Santos Pinheiro)
10 – Morte do Salve (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi / Ildásio Tavares)
11 – Deus o Salve (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
12 – Bonita (Antônio Carlos Marques / Jocafi)
