Guimaraes e Seu Conjunto - Dancando com Papai Noel (1959)

Hello! Good Evening! This is the perfect example of a cover artwork that worth the entire album, no matter the music available inside. I have been looking at this cover the whole day and I cannot stop laugh on each new finding, just a couple of examples: 1) Why the guy is fixing the Christmas tree while Papai Noel (Santa Claus) is dancing with his wife?! What is the feeling of the daughter when she looks at her mother dancing with Papai Noel? I think she is astonished and proud of her. And what a weird Papai Noel they found to make this cover, thin, tall and with an unusual reclined position. Anyway, let’s see what Guimaraes e Seu Conjunto delivers in terms of Christmas songs.

This is Guimaraes e Seu Conjunto – Dancando com Papai Noel (1959), for Internacional, featuring instrumental renditions of Brazilian and international Christmas songs in the Para Dancar style. I found this album inside the envelope and I’m very happy to be the first to spin it for the first time after 49 years. Tracks include:

01 – Noite Santa Silenciosa (Franz Gruber)
02 – Jingle Bells (Tradicional)
03 – Papai Noel (Irany de Oliveira / Edel Ney)
04 – Natal das Crianças (Blecaute)
05 – Lá Vem Papai Noel (Irany de Oliveira)
06 – Papai Noel (Heitor dos Prazeres)
07 – Boas Festas (Assis Valente)
08 – Natal Branco (Irving Berlin)
09 – Outros Natais (Cláudio Luis)
10 – É Noite de Natal (Hianto de Almeida / Haroldo D’Almeida)
11 – Natal Noite de Amor (Aldo Taranto)
12 – Natal de Nossa Terra (Homero Gelmini)

.

Hello, good evening! Such as yesterday, Loronix starts today with another amazing cover artwork released by the obscure Internacional label. If we look back earlier Internacional label releases, we will see that cover artwork is really their business, as well their vinyl, very solid, heavy, playing very nice after 48 years. Let’s see.

This is Guimaraes e Seu Conjunto – Dancando no Fred’s (1959), for Internacional. Dancando no Fred’s is the second album released by Antonio Guimaraes, an obscure Brazilian pianist that had some worldwide recognition for his album “Fabuloso!” recorded in 1963 for Chantecler, featuring a very early Airto Moreira playing drums. It is worth checking out if Airto Moreira has another participation on Antonio Guimaraes albums, since most of there records do not credit musicians. Anyway, the fans of the “Para Dancar” style will be really pleased after some days of hiatus. Tracks include:

01 – Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu (Modugno / Migliacci)
02 – I Love You Samantha (Cole Porter)
03 – Dançando no Fred’s (Antônio Guimarães)
04 – Essa Diaba (Ary Barroso)
05 – Cachito (Consuelo Velasquez)
06 – Sube Y Baja El Telón (R. Ruiz)
07 – É Luxo Só (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
08 – Lá Vem a Baiana (Dorival Caymmi)
09 – E a Chuva Parou (Ribamar (1) / Esdras Pereira da Silva / Victor Freire)
10 – Gondolier (Marcucci / De Angelis)
11 – Puente de Piedra (Carmelo Larrea)
12 – Interesseira (Murillo Latini / Bidú Reis)

.

Esse disco pode ser buscado no Parallel Realities e na Rádio Forma e Elenco do Martoni.

Hello, good evening! Let’s start the day with another dancing record from the late 50’s, featuring a Brazilian artist that got some international recognition with an album featuring one of the earliest Airto Moreira recordings, Guimaraes e Seu Conjunto – O Fabuloso Guimaraes, already available at Loronix, here. I cannot answer the question you might be thinking, I do not have idea if Airto Moreira is on this session. Anyway, better know the album to make your own conclusions.

This is Guimaraes e Seu Conjunto – Dancando no Fred’s Nr. 2 (no date), for Internacional, featuring Antonio Guimaraes piano backed by his Conjunto. Fred’s was a nightclub in Copacabana, unfortunately, today I cannot bring more details about Fred’s, since Caetano Rodrigues (the friend who knows everything about these old nightclubs) is not available today, but the album is above the average in the style and should bring a good entertainment. Tracks include:

01 – Chega de Saudade
02 – Unchained Melody
03 – Ontem e Hoje
04 – Echame a Mi La Culpa
05 – In a Little Spanish Town
06 – Senorita Luna
07 – Sayonara
08 – My Funny Valentine
09 – Dois Amigos
10 – Castigo
11 – Fenix
12 – Lamento

This obscure LP from the early 60’s is known as to be one of the first recording of the rhythm legend Airto Moreira, credited here as Airto Guimorvã for reasons that zecalouro could not check.

Antonio Guimaraes was a very active nightclub musician in the late 50’s and 60’s. This LP, Antonio Guimaraes e Seu Conjunto – O Fabuloso Guimaraes (1963) has this nightclub atmosphere, with instrumental music for dancing, sounding sometimes like a Waldir Calmon recording. Antonio Guimaraes e Seu Conjunto is Antonio Guimarães (piano), Walter Santos (sax, piston), Jose Maria (accordion), Zezinho (bass), Airto Guimorvã (drums) and Jose Rangel – Maninho (percussion). Tracks include:

01 – Mattinata (Leoncavallo)
02 – Hollywood for strings (David Rose)
03 – Lenda do beijo (R.Souto – J. Vert)
04 – Dança das horas (Poncielle)
05 – Viúva alegre (F.Lehar)
06 – Malagueña (Ernesto Lecuona)
07 – Jalousie (Jacob Gade)
08 – Copacabana (Alberto Ribeiro – João de Barro)
09 – O love Paris ( Cole Porter)
10 – Perfidia (Alberto Domingues)
11 – C’est-ci-bon (Zetti-Hornez)
12 – Yo soy manouca (Don Castrito)

.

Não tinha este disco. Porém, graças ao Amilcar e ao Milan Filipovic, ele hoje está disponível no Parallel Realities Studio.
