Hello, good day! This is unique and really cool. Ary Barroso recorded this album in 1955 with the purpose of creating a legacy for future generations to listen to his work and learn about his music. I think Ary Barroso would be really pleased to see his message reaching so many people over the Internet 55 years before this album was released. Let’s see.

This is Ary Barroso – Encontro com Ary (1955), for Copacabana, featuring Ary Barroso playing piano, chatting and singing his own compositions. I’m making available Ary’s message using a hi-res scan from my copy, which is not the first 1955 Copacabana’s issue, but a 1964 reissue. It is nice to see that Copacanana kept the same artwork for front and back covers. It is also mandatory to check Daniella Thompson’s Ary Barroso Discography for additional details on this nice album, including an English translation of Ary Barroso’s message. Tracks include:

Track List

01 – Trapo de Gente (Ary Barroso) Samba
02 – Minha Mágoa (Ary Barroso) Valsa
03 – Risque (Ary Barroso) Samba
04 – Camisa Amarela (Ary Barroso) Samba
05 – Na Baixa do Sapateiro (Ary Barroso) Samba
06 – Rancho Fundo (Ary Barroso / Lamartine Babo) Samba

Hello, good evening! Since I read Ary Barroso’s entry at Musicos do Brasil | Uma Enciclopedia, I started looking for his albums. Ary Barroso is a very important artist. but his discography is not available at Loronix the way I think it should be, no career albums are available, only tribute albums and a collaboration with Dorival Caymmi. Ary Barroso piano is unique and his compositions are part of Brazilian music heritage. He is mentioned on 173 posts at Loronix, which demonstrate his compositions were recorded by many other artists. Let’s see.
This is Ernani Filho – Dois Amigos | As Musicas de Ary Barroso na Voz de Ernani Filho (1963), for Odeon, a tribute album recorded by Ary Barroso favorite interpreter, according with Ary Barroso liner notes available at the back cover. This is really interesting. Ernani Filho started his career in 1938, recording several 78RPMs and for reasons that I could not check, he retired early, probably, just before this album, which is the only one recorded in the 12′ format and the last Ernani Filho’s record. Personnel listing is not available and Ary Barroso participation needs confirmation.

This album is here as a gift of Mauricio Gouveia, the owner of one of the coolest vinyl shops in Rio de Janeiro, Baratos da Ribeiro, in the heart of Copacabana. I urge Loronix’s community to visit Mauricio’s store following this direction, here. Tracks include:

01 – Balada da Saudade (Ary Barroso)
02 – Tufão (Ary Barroso)
03 – No Rancho Fundo (Ary Barroso / Lamartine Babo)
04 – Ocultei (Ary Barroso)
05 – Maria (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
06 – Risque (Ary Barroso)
07 – Pierrot (Ary Barroso)
08 – Cantiga de Enganar Tristeza (Ary Barroso / Thiago de Mello)
09 – Já Era Tempo (Ary Barroso / Vinicius de Moraes)
10 – Inquietação (Ary Barroso)
11 – Dois Amigos (Ary Barroso)
12 – Trapo de Gente (Ary Barroso)

Sílvio Caldas & Ary Barroso - Ary Barroso, Canta Silvio Caldas

Hello, good evening! zecalouro is a big fan of singers with potent voices, such like Francisco Alves and Angela Maria. He goes nuts with opera, especially when played loud. I decided to change his “playlist” today with this album, having in mind the potent voice of Silvio Caldas. My parrot did not like it very much, but I had a great entertainment listening to Ary Barroso music with Silvio Caldas interpretation. Silvio Caldas is a great singer; he has a perfect diction, really incredible. I could understand every single word of Ary Barroso lyrics performed by Silvio Caldas. This is a very old album released in 1953 and these songs seem to be composed only a decade ago, they are fresh and beautiful. Ary Barroso music did not decay across time. Let’s see.

This is Ary Barroso com Silvio Caldas – Musica de Ary Barroso, Canta Silvio Caldas (1953), for Radio, featuring eight Ary Barroso songs performed by Silvio Caldas. Little I known about this album, but I have the insight that Ary Barroso participates with his unmistakable piano, delivering groovy Samba in some tracks. I think you should give a try to this album, just to understand that Brazilian music did not started with Bossa Nova and was attractive many years before the movement. Tracks include:

01 – No Rancho Fundo (Ary Barroso / Lamartine Babo)
02 – Morena Boca de Ouro (Ary Barroso)
03 – Três Lágrimas (Ary Barroso)
04 – Faceira (Ary Barroso)
05 – Terra Seca (Ary Barroso)
06 – Maria (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
07 – Tú (Ary Barroso)
08 – Risque (Ary Barroso)

Dorival Caymmi & Ary Barroso - Ary Caymmi E Dorival Barroso (1958)

It is possible that you think I am creating these facts just to add some drama to my writing, but it is absolutely true when I say this album was among those who could not be recovered in the reconstruction of the links and it is made available again by another contribution sponsored by Jorge Mello. Thanks Jorge, I was really afraid to announce this weekend this anthological album was missed and now I’m really glad to bring it back to Loronix. Let’s see.

This is Ary Barroso e Dorival Caymmi – Ary Caymmi Dorival Barroso | Um Interpreta o Outro (1958), for Odeon, featuring Ary Barroso performing Dorival Caymmi repertoire at the piano and Dorival Caymmi playing violao and singing Ary Barroso standards,is a beauty of an album that never had the chance of a CD reissue. Ary Barroso piano is beautiful and Dorival Caymmi singing Ary Barroso music is fascinating. This cover is also amazing showing Ary Barroso at Dorival Caymmi’s universe, completely lost as a fisherman and Dorival Caymmi having a lot of fun of Ary and wearing the colors of Flamengo. I hope you have the same pleasure I had this week spinning this album after a long time. Tracks include:

01 – Lá Vem a Baiana (Dorival Caymmi) by Ary Barroso
02 – Risque (Ary Barroso) by Dorival Caymmi
03 – Maracangalha (Dorival Caymmi) by Ary Barroso
04 – Por Causa Desta Cabocla (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto) by Dorival Caymmi
05 – João Valentão (Dorival Caymmi) by Ary Barroso
06 – Inquietação (Ary Barroso) by Dorival Caymmi
07 – Na Baixa do Sapateiro (Ary Barroso) by Dorival Caymmi
08 – Marina (Dorival Caymmi) by Ary Barroso
09 – Maria (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto) by Dorival Caymmi
10 – Dora (Dorival Caymmi) by Ary Barroso
11 – Tu (Ary Barroso) by Dorival Caymmi
12 – Nem Eu (Dorival Caymmi) by Ary Barroso

It is truly amazing that Caetano has the 10-inch version of this record that has beautiful facts to comment. Let’s make it straight that time presenting this real jewel, introducing artists and telling the story behind this album.

This is Garoto – Garoto Revive em Alta Fidelidade Ary Barroso (1957), for Odeon. Garoto (Anibal Augusto Sardinha) was a musician ahead of his time, very underrated and considered a genius. Garoto started very early, making his first recording in 1930 for Parlophon, under artistic direction of the Maestro Radames Gnattali. Garoto was a violonist in a time where violao players were considered outsiders, living in the margin of society. He has the honor of being the first musician to play a violao inside the elitist theatre Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro.

This album recorded and released two years before Garoto’s passing in 1955 and has the participation of Maestro Leo Peracchi with orchestra. Actually, Garoto was not in the set at the recording sessions of 1957. You will hear Garoto violao in all tracks and these recordings were found lost on a closet two years before his passing.

Maestro Leo Peracchi decided to make orchestra arrangements to the tapes found and the record was finally built. With the modern technology of today this technique is business as usual, however, in 1967, it was something close to impossible, this session was built with orchestra playing on top of Garoto’s recording with microphones capturing the environment sound.

Anyway, an anthological album of Brazilian music history with Garoto playing with Maestro Leo Perachi Ary Barroso compositions. Tracks include:

01 – Maria (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)
02 – No Rancho Fundo (Ary Barroso / Lamartine Babo)
03 – Tu (Ary Barroso)
04 – Na Baixa do Sapateiro (Ary Barroso)
05 – Terra Sêca (Ary Barroso)
06 – Risque (Ary Barroso)
07 – Aquarela do Brasil (Ary Barroso)

Sometimes we have things in front of us, close enough we can even touch, but for reasons we can’t explain, we do not give a properly recognition and adequate importance to them. It happens all the time, in life. This is the case with this post. During several months, at a first sight, this was taken only as an old Trio Surdina 10-inch tribute to Ary Barroso. So you start making connections, JimR says that Leo Peracchi is one of the Brazilian Maestros that he likes most and Caetano Rodrigues also said something about it and them this little jewel gets the deserved importance.

This is Trio Surdina & Leo Peracchi e Sua Orquestra – Ary Barroso (1953), for Musidisc, featuring Trio Surdina, as Fafa Lemos (violin), Chiquinho do Acordeom (accordion) and the legendary Garoto (violao) and the might Maestro Leo Peracchi e Sua Orquestra. This amazing cover alone worth the admission price, and the music is great, fresh as it was recorded for the first time a couple of years ago. This is one of those you do not have to explain, just guide. Tracks include:

01 – Rio de Janeiro (Ary Barroso) – Trio Surdina
02 – Inquietação (Ary Barroso) – Trio Surdina
03 – Na Baixa do Sapateiro (Ary Barroso) – Trio Surdina
04 – Risque (Ary Barroso) – Trio Surdina
05 – Aquarela do Brasil (Ary Barroso) – Léo Peracchi
06 – Por Causa Desta Cabôca (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto) – Léo Peracchi
07 – Brasil Moreno (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto) – Léo Peracchi
08 – No Tabuleiro da Baiana (Ary Barroso) – Léo Peracchi

We have here a great, great, great film sent by Jean Yves (Jean do Trombone) to be used in a possible future tribute or homage to Aloysio de Oliveira and Ary Barroso. Sorry Jean, I could not wait. The nice parrot you see above is my friend Ze Carioca, a Disney cartoon character created in 1942 for the movie Alo Amigos (Saludo Amigos), which is the movie you see below and you should not miss. The music is from Ary Barroso and Aloysio de Oliveira sings.

Thanks Jean Yves for pointing this amazing piece of happiness made 65 years ago and fresh as made yesterday.

Hope uEnjoy!
