Hello, Good Evening! This is the first out of three non-working days in Brazil. Everybody left the city to quiet places, coming back on Sunday night or Monday. I like these big weekends, people leave to quiet places and Rio de Janeiro stays, how can I say, quiet. I took a time today to climb a military facility close to my place, which is Pedra do Leme. The place has a Fort with several cannons to protect the city. Obviously, the Fort is no longer working, but the military use to put some cannons in service once in a while, such as today. Wow, my ears still have problem by the cannon noise, but the day was really nice. You can follow this link to know more about the spot.

Let’s take advantage of these low traffic days to release some very old wants and needs of Loronixers, starting with this one that really worth your attention.

This is Claudia – Deixa eu Dizer (1973), for Odeon. Little I know about this album, except it is the most successful LP recorded by this Brazilian singer, featuring songs by her own and others from Caetano Veloso, Ivan Lins, Gonzaguinha, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Dorival Caymmi and others. Tracks include:

01 – Noite de Verão (Cláudia / Raul Telles)
02 – Esse Cara (Caetano Veloso)
03 – A Fonte Secou (Monsueto / Tufic Lauar / Marcléo)
04 – O Circo (Pregão Circense) (Zé Dantas)

Hello, Good Night! It is nighttime by looking through my window to stare the sky with stars, however, I feel like in the morning. I slept very well this night taking also some naps during the day. Thanks for the great feedback given to Loronix Find It! I’m very happy to give an alternative to the Archives labyrinth.

That’s right! Being straightforward, we have here the first contribution from a Loronixer that does not want to be identified, let’s call him Mr. EB from now on. Mr. EB brings one of the instrumental groups we like most, supporting a great singer of the old times.

This is Claudya e Zimbo Trio – Entre Amigos (1994), for Movieplay, including 4 additional tracks only available at the CD version, which is the one sent by Mr. EB to Loronixers. It will be very nice to check a late work of Claudya, credited with the letter Y instead of U as we are used to read and Zimbo Trio. Mr. EB asks Loronixers to listen track one, Beatriz, very carefully as one of his favorite at this album. Tracks include:

01 – Beatriz (Edu Lobo / Chico Buarque)
02 – Tico-tico no Fubá (Zequinha de Abreu / Eurico Barreiros)
03 – Lamentos (Pixinguinha / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 – De Frente Pro Crime (João Bosco / Aldir Blanc)
05 – Upa Neguinho (Edu Lobo / Gianfrancesco Guarnieri)
06 – Da Cor do Pecado (Bororó)
07 – Brasileirinho (Waldir Azevedo)
08 – Cantiga Por Luciana (Edmundo Souto / Paulinho Tapajós)
09 – Fé Cega Faca Amolada (Milton Nascimento / Ronaldo Bastos)
10 – É Luxo Só (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto)

Brazilian songwriter and chanteuse Claudia recorded this little gem in 1978; Epic issued it on both sides of the Atlantic in 1979, and here in the states it disappeared without a trace. It’s too bad, too. This reissue brings to us, through the veil of history, the shimmering, glistening, stylishly glassy sheen that was Brazilian pop at the end of the 1970s. Not as heavy-handed as Julia or Deodato’s records, and not as electronic as those of Sergio Mendes at the time, Claudia’s music is still full of the gorgeous bossa stylistics that made her a star in the first place. Writing virtually all of the material herself with husband Chico, who did all the orchestral and vocal arrangements, and with production assistance from the incomparable Romeli Giosa, Claudia delved into the soul and funk of the era only lightly, dusting her specifically Brazilian tunes with a sheen of it for contemporary pop’s sake (“Boiadeiro”) and even harkening back to the strange rhythmic innovations of tropicalia on “Rua 33 Numero Particular.” Post bossa work also shows itself here is spades on “Ta-Lento” and the title track, with samba rhythms criss-crossing the mix and disappearing into simmering Afro-Cuban soul. This is a solid piece of work that belongs ion any serious Brazilian library. ~ Thom Jurek, All Music Guide

zecalouro is glad to show you this Claudia – Jesus Cristo (1971) LP, a special post to our Loronixer friend Rufino and his dad that it is a big Claudia fan.

This record has a music that probably was one of the most delivered to people in Brazil by radio, TV or any other media in 1971: Com mais de Trinta. zecalouro did not realize that this song was a Claudia song, he was a little bird by that time. Additionally, Com mais de Trinta was composed by Marcos Valle and his brother Paulo Sergio Valle and the song that gives the LP title, Jesus Cristo, is from Roberto Carlos.

Another Brazilian Diva. Claudia, with her 1974 album Claudia, Você, Claudia, arranged and orchestrated by Geraldo Vespar and Orlando Silveira, a good mixture of pop with jazz.

Almost unknown in Brazil, Claudia has more than 20 career albums, having her career peak at early 70’s. She won some important n “Festivais da Canção” and for a certain period, has divided with Elis Regina the public and media recognition of being the best Brazilian Diva.

This out of print 1971 LP is Voce, Claudia, Voce is a nice album that reminds a lot the records of Marcos Valle from the late 60’s. The cover – I hope zecaloura will not read this post – is gorgeous.
