Caetano Veloso & Fagner - Disco De Bolso

I think that everybody remember when Loronix released a single with Antonio Carlos Jobim performing a very, let’s say, primitive Aguas de Marco. That album was the first release of a new magazine called Disco de Bolso, featuring a single with a well-now artist and a new artist on side B. The concept was excellent, but for reasons that I could not check, the magazine did not survive to the second edition, which is exactly what we have here, kindly sent by my Mother. Let’s see.

This is Disco de Bolso do Pasquim Numero 2 – Caetano Veloso e Fagner (1972), for Zen, featuring on side A Caetano Veloso, performing A Volta da Asa Branca, recorded live at Teatro Joao Caetano, Rio de Janeiro. Side B brings the new artist, Fagner, performing Mucuripe (Belchior / Fagner). Caetano Veloso does not have a support group, only his violao, while Fagner plays violao and is backed by Ivan Lins, playing organ. It is sad to know this magazine had such a short life. Both new artists (remember the first had Joao Bosco on side B) are now respected artists in Brazil. Tracks include:

01 – A Volta da Asa Branca (Luiz Gonzaga) with Caetano Veloso
02 – Mucuripe (Fagner / Belchior) with Fagner

Hello, good morning! Yesterday I was very tired; life has been really busy down here. And when that happens, the day always ends in the worst possible way, by accident; I slept on the sofa reading the back cover of this beautiful EP sent to us by Jorge Mello. I feel in the obligation of sharing this one in this extraordinary morning post. Let’s see. This is Luiz Bonfa – Passeio no Rio (1960), for Odeon, featuring four songs, including the anthological Luiz Bonfa’s Manha de Carnaval, with Luiz Bonfa singing. I could not check if these songs were recorded exclusively for this 7-inch EP, which is something that I will let you identify, I’m late for work and must leave in a second. Have a good day and do not miss another Brazilian music night at Loronix today. Tracks include:
01 – Manha de Carnaval (Luiz Bonfa / Antonio Maria)
02 – Passeio no Rio (Luiz Bonfa)
03 – Samba de Orfeu (Luiz Bonfa / Antonio Maria)
04 – Mosaico (Luiz Bonfa)
.

When I spoke about the benefits of fixing all Loronix links a couple of weeks ago, some friends said that I was crazy, needing psychiatric help. This is a great opportunity to explore the old and forgotten past of Loronix, seeking out amazing music from the past, boldly going where no other parrot has gone before. Sorry about reference. Anyway, I found this album today, which is a truly amazing Caetano Rodrigues contribution. It is time to bring it back to the first page. Let’s see.

This is Conjunto Bossa Nova – Bossa é Bossa (1959), for Odeon, in the 7-inch format, the first Roberto Menescal record featuring from the left to right in the picture, Luiz Paulo Nogueira. Helcio Milito, Bebeto, Luiz Carlos Vinhas, Bill Horn and Roberto Menescal. Thanks once again, Caetano, this is a really hard to find album and should make the day of new and old friends of Loronix. Tracks include:

Roberto Menescal
(guitar)
Bill Horn

Luiz Carlos Vinhas

Bebeto Castilho

I think this is another great finding sponsored by my mother, who brought this compacto duplo (EP) in her last contribution to our community. I could not find this little record listed in any discography checked and I believe he brings something never released on regular Chico Buarque albums, which is the recording of of Roda Viva, featuring the vocal group MPB-4 in the III Festival da Musica Popular Brasileira in 1967. My memory has not been very good recently, but I remember someone asking for this tune. Let’s see.

This is Chico Buarque de Hollanda – Compacto Duplo (1967), for RGE, featuring the participation of MPB-4 at Roda Viva in III Festival da Musica Popular Brasileira and Carolina, taken from the II Festival Internacional da Cancao, Rio de Janeiro. This cover artwork alone worth the admission of this nice album. I would like to say thanks to everybody and give my apologies for the recent outages at Loronix, my work on these issues are not finished and probably we will have a better and fast website as soon as the situation gets back to normal. Tracks include:

01 – Roda Viva (Chico Buarque) with MPB-4 at III Festival da Musica Popular Brasileira
02 – A Televisao (Chico Buarque)
03 – Carolina (Chico Buarque) at II Festival Internacional da Cancao
04 – Um Chorinho (Chico Buarque)

Elis-Compacto-1972

Hello, good evening! I have several EPs to release today, such like those very good Singles and EP Festivals we made last year, but I can’t decide which one to be the first. Better start releasing an artist that everybody loves, Elis Regina and her first release at Loronix this year.

This is Elis Regina – Elis (1972), for Philips, an EP or compacto duplo, as we call in Brazil. Elis Regina performs great songs, including Aguas de Marco (Antonio Carlos Jobim). This little record is produced by Roberto Menescal, arranged by Cesar Camargo Mariano and does not bring credits for musicians in this session. Tracks include:

01 – Aguas de Marco (Antonio Carlos Jobim)
02 – Atras da Porta (Chico Buarque / Francis Hime)
03 – Bala com Bala (Joao Bosco / Aldir Blanc)
04 – Vida de Bailarina (Americo Seixas / Dorival Silva)

.

Não tinha esse disco. Porém, graças a um amigoAnônimo ele pode ser buscado provisoriamente aqui.  Todas as músicas dele também estão no LP Elis (1972) cuja versão em FLAC pode ser buscada no 300 Discos.

Hello, good evening! Let’s start this Tuesday with this little record, scheduled to be released yesterday, and just forgotten by this green bird. Perhaps the size of this single was the reason. Although small, everything is great, the outside with this hypnotic RGE cover and the music, featuring Chico Buarque and his lovely sister Cristina making her second recording career participation. Let’s see.

This is Chico Buarque de Hollanda – Single RGO 4.674 (1968), for RGE, featuring Benvinda, from the IV Festival da Musica Popular Brasileira on side A and Sem Fantasia with Cristina Buarque and arrangements by Lindolpho Gaya. I’m in love with compactos and there are many to show in the forthcoming days. Tracks include:

01 – Benvinda (Chico Buarque de Hollanda) – IV Festival da Musica Popular Brasileira
02 – Sem Fantasia (Chico Buarque de Hollanda) with Cristina

Elza Soares - Tapecar (1976)

Hello, good evening! This little record comes to announce that tomorrow we will have a full day devoted to the Samba in Loronix, which is the already legendary Samba Saturday with the first 2008 edition. If you were waiting anxiously for a Samba Saturday, you should say hello to zecalouro’s mother, who is now a frequent reader of Loronix posts through the new translation feature. She read something about the lack of Saturdays devoted to Samba and went on a successful mission to find albums in the style. I have to admit that I’m really surprised with her findings. You should not miss another Samba Saturday at Loronix. Meanwhile, Elza Soares should guide us to be in the mood for tomorrow. Let’s see.

This is Elza Soares – EP CD.73 (1976), for Tapecar, featuring Elza Soares performing four tracks, including the blockbuster Malandro, which is the sample made available at Loronix Preview Center. Tracks include:

01 – Estou Com Raiva De Você (Miro Barbosa / Jorge Roberto)
02 – Nó Na Tristeza (Vicente Matos / Carlito Cavalcanti)
03 – Malandro (Jorge Aragão / Jotabê)
04 – Curumbandê (Beto Baiano)

Maria Odette (1966)

This single is very interesting for different reasons, first, by that cover artwork, more suitable for a film by Alfred Hitchcock. Second, the legendary label Mocambo and its first single at Loronix. Third, the opportunity to watch the video that probably gave the chance to make this little album, recorded during Festival da Musica Popular Brasileira Rede Record (1966). There are other interesting things to tell about this single, but it is better tell you in the next paragraph. Let’s see.

This is Maria Odette – Festival da Musica Popular Brasileira (1966), for Mocambo, featuring Um Dia (Caetano Veloso) on Side A, which is the song that received the prize of the best lyrics on that Festival and Levante (Geraldo Vandre) on Side B. The video features Maria Odette performing Um Dia with the participation of Caetano Veloso at the audience with the camera delivering a lot of time with Caetano images instead of Maria Odette. Tracks include:

01 – Um Dia (Caetano Veloso)
02 – Levante (Geraldo Vandre)

.

Luiz Carlos Vinhas e Os Kalangos (1971)

Here we go on the first and last record released by Luiz Carlos Vinhas e Os Kalangos, which is a group assembled by Laercio de Freitas in 1970 when he came back to Brazil after a couple of years in Mexico replacing Luiz Eca at Tamba 4. Luiz Carlos Vinhas e Os Kalangos had also not identified bassist and drummer from Luiz Carlos Vinhas Trio, regularly performing at Flag nightclub in the early 70’s. Let’s see.

This is Luiz Carlos Vinhas e Os Kalangos (1971), for Top Tape, featuring on Side A the original version of Capim Gordura, composed by Laercio de Freitas in Mexico, while Side B brings an not usual rendition of Chovendo na Roseira (Antonio Carlos Jobim). Helcio Milito had the idea of recording this little piece of madness at Top Tape. Capim Gordura was big hit, playing on radio and also television, including four performances at Buzina do Chacrinha, which is something I would like very much to watch on video. Tracks include:

01 – Capim Gordura (Laercio de Freitas)
02 – Chovendo na Roseira (Antonio Carlos Jobim)

.

GalChicoClaudiaTelles

Hello, good evening! My turntable was upgraded with a new cartridge last week, using resources taken from donations to Loronix. Thanks a million for your contributions. The new cartridge brings several benefits, and the most important one is to make possible to play several singles that I could not spin correctly with the old one, such like these ones, featuring three renowned artists, made available as a single album. Let’s see.

This is Gal Costa, Chico Buarque & Claudia Telles – Singles, featuring six tracks taken from three singles. The first one is Gal Costa at Philips as 365.306, released in 1970. Chico Buarque de Hollanda comes with our second single, released by RGE as RGE-4.479 with no release date information. Claudia Telles is our third single, for Columbia as BSO-13680, 1976. You can check each single detail at the panorama image bellow, just before track listing. Tracks include:
01 – Gal Costa – London, London (Caetano Veloso)
02 – Gal Costa – Mini – Misterio (Gilberto Gil)
03 – Chico Buarque – Meu Refrao (Chico Buarque)
04 – Chico Buarque – Ole, Ola (Chico Buarque)
05 – Claudia Telles – Fim de Tarde (Mauro Motta / Robson Jorge)
06 – Claudia Telles – Caminhos Iguais (Dennis / Robson Jorge)

This is Gal Costa, Chico Buarque & Claudia Telles – Singles, at Loronix. Hope uEnjoy!

Elis Regina com Zimbo Trio - Zambi (1965)

selos

Hello, good evening! Loronix received today a large contribution from the great JOAO-SP, featuring LPs, singles, 10-inches and box sets, a truly awesome set of albums that I should start showing to our community in the forthcoming days, actually, in the forthcoming weeks, such big this great contribution was. Thanks a million JOAO-SP; Loronixers will get pleased as I got today when opening your package.

Since JOAO-SP contribution arrived today, I had to make the first in the 7-inch format, to make it fast. Let’s see.

This is Elis Regina com Zimbo Trio – Zambi (1965), for Philips, featuring three cuts extracted from Elis Regina & Zimbo Trio – O Fino do Fino (1965), a really hard to find single including the title track Zambi on Side A and a Medley on Side B, as detailed bellow on track listing. Tracks include:

01 – Zambi (Edu Lobo / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 – Esse Mundo e Meu (Sergio Ricardo / Ruy Guerra) Resolucao (Edu Lobo / Luiz F. Freire)

Disco de Bolso - O Tom de Antonio Carlos Jobim e O Tal de Joao Bosco (1972)

Label

Hello, good evening! This is so far the greatest zecalouro’s mother finding. Actually, not a finding, she had this little recorded since 1972 and both did not remember. She found it inside a closet and called immediately to announce her finding.

When I told her she had the first recording of Aguas de Marco, released on May, 1972, months before the “official” release at Matita Pere, she got really amazed and send it in the next day for us. This recording was released in Disco de Bolso magazine, a bonus recorded included in the anthological magazine Pasquim. Let’s see.

This is Disco de Bolso – O Tom de Antonio Carlos Jobim e o Tal de Joao Bosco (1972), for Zen, featuring the Side A with the first recording of Aguas de Marco and Side B with the first recording of Joao Bosco (probably unknown by that time), performing Agnus Sei. Aguas de Marco is very different from the version released in Matita Pere, it is faster than usual and Antonio Carlos Jobim seems to have a hard time trying to sing on such speed. The recording occurs inside the studio of Sergio Ricardo, the editor of Disco de Bolso magazine, a nice idea that had only a second edition with Caetano Veloso and Fagner. This is another important piece of history being released at Loronix. Tracks include:

Personnel

Antonio Carlos Jobim
(voice)
Bebeto (Tamba Trio), Paulinho Jobim, Franklin, Paulo, Ratto
(flute)
Joao Palma
(percussion)
Novelli
(bass)
Eduardo Athayde
(violao)

Track List

01 – Aguas de Marco (Antonio Carlos Jobim) with Antonio Carlos Jobim
02 – Agnus Sei (Joao Bosco / Aldir Blanc) with Joao Bosco

Paulinho da Viola – Sinal Fechado (1969) EP

My turntable has a serious problem with singles and EPs. Even when playing clean albums, the cartridge jumps and I had no choice except turn it of and try to understand what happens. This one was sent by Dona Iara and for my surprise it works very well and the output was so good that it was not necessary to apply noise reduction software. Perhaps my turntable is a big Paulinho da Viola fan, such like me. Let’s see.

This is Paulinho da Viola – Sinal Fechado (1969) EP, for Odeon, featuring the awesome title track 01 – Sinal Fechado with other three cuts, including the blockbuster 02 – Foi um Rio que Passou em Minha Vida, a well-known Paulinho da Viola composition. I did not search for the availability of these songs on regular Paulinho da Viola albums. Tracks include:

01 – Sinal Fechado (Paulinho da Viola)
02 – Foi Um Rio Que Passou Em Minha Vida (Paulinho da Viola)
03 – Ruas Que Sonhei (Paulinho da Viola)
04 – Nada De Novo (Paulinho da Viola)

.

Todas as músicas deste EP estão contidas no LP “Foi um Rio que Passou em Minha Vida” que pode ser buscado aqui no Órfãos do Loronix.

Hello, good evening! It happens every year and it is impossible to ignore. Natal, Christmas, Navidad, Noel, Kurisumasu, Natale, no matter how you say in your part of the world, it is coming closer. I have a problem with Christmas albums and their very predictable songs, but once in a while you find something really unique, such like last Christmas when we made really nice albums. I’m not sure if we can keep last year’s pace, but I want to start great with this one, sent for last Christmas by a friend that I cannot remember right now. Let’s see.

This is Os Velhinhos Transviados – O Natal dos Velhinhos Transviados (1966), for RCA Victor, a compacto duplo (EP), featuring four Christmas tracks and this really nice cover that worth the admission price. It is Christmas, so I’m making it with no Rapidshare. Tracks include:

01 – Jingle Bells (D. P.)
02 – White Christmas (Irving Berlin)
03 – Boas Festas (Assis Valente)
04 – Noite Silenciosa (Franz Gruber)

.

Update:I was loosing my hope to have this album with the four tracks; I’m always underestimating the strength of our community. Galego, which is a brand new friend of Loronix, sent it to us a few minutes ago in a very nice quality. This is the reason for making it again, once again, direct link to music, no Rapidshare.I would like to thanks Galego for providing 04 – Frevo, the missing track. This post was a blockbuster with more than 700 downloads so far.A Loronixer sent this album to us in the end of 2006 and did not identify himself. Since then, I have been searching for a missing track 04 – Frevo (Antonio Carlos Jobim). I decided today to do not wait anymore and I’m asking the help of our community to find this missing track and complete this little record. This is the reason why download is been provided as a direct link, no Rapidshare.

This is Joao Gilberto – Cantando as Musicas de Orfeu do Carnaval | 45rpm (1959), for Odeon, featuring songs taken from Black Orpheus original song track. While friends are searching for the missing track, it is a good idea to listen to Joao Gilberto performing the three ones available. Tracks include:

01 – A Felicidade (Antonio Carlos Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
02 – Manha de Carnaval (Luiz Bonfa / Antonio Maria)
03 – O Nosso Amor (Antonio Carlos Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 – Frevo (Antonio Carlos Jobim)

Yesterday’s III Loronix Singles Festival had no feedback, perhaps I need to fine tune my picks and that’s what I’m trying to accomplish with the III Loronix EP Festival, featuring two artists with great popularity among Loronixers. Let’s see.

Publicado: Sunday, August 19, 2007 by zecalouro

We will make a reduced Festival of compactos this week, putting together singles and EPs. Life has been busy down here and this parrot did not have time to create separate editions. However, we have nice little records to show. Let’s see.

This is Quarteto Teorema – Mengo 70 (1969), not released commercially, Flamengo, soccer club in Rio de Janeiro, produced this album. Perhaps for promotional activities. Anyway, nice EP featuring Quarteto Teorema, lead by Fernando Lona. Tracks include:

01 – Mengo 70 (Fernando Lona / Vidal Franca / Carlos)
02 – Mudanca (Vidal Franca / J. Campos)
03 – Tudo Certo em Seu Lugar (Fernando Lona / Mily
04 – Aquele Abraco (Gilberto Gil)

This is Os Incriveis – Os Incriveis (1967), for RCA Victor. There are much of personal matters with this one. This single was probably the first album I had. zecalouro’s mother says he got nuts with 01 – Era um Garoto como Eu que Amava os Beatles e Os Rolling Stones every time they put it to play on the radio, so daddy bought this single, that I carry with me since then. Tracks include:

01 – Era um Garoto como Eu que Amava os Beatles e os Rolling Stones (Migliacci / Luzini) adapt. Os Incriveis
02 – Czardas (V. Monti) Instrumental

This is Elizabeth – Elizabeth single (no date), for Caravelle. Sent by moos, this is the same Elizabeth from the first edition, now she looks very beautiful. This single features a blockbuster, 01 – Sou Louca por Voce and it is one of the first albums recorded by Elizabeth. Tracks include:

01 – Sou Louca por Voce
02 – Minha Cancao

.

Não tinha esses discos. Porém, graças aos amigos Amilcar e Martoni, eles podem ser buscados na Rádio Forma e Elenco

I Loronix Singles Festival was a blockbuster, why not making another one for EPs? That’s the idea of this post, I Loronix EPs Festival, featuring only female singers. I think this one is a real treat, it starts classic with Elizeth Cardoso, visiting Doris Monteiro, a favorite of several Loronixers and ending with the amazing Elizabeth. zecalouro ripped Elizeth Cardoso, Trix made Doris Monteiro a couple of months ago and the great Moos sent Elizabeth and this truly amazing cover from The Netherlands. Thanks pals!

03 – Capoeira Tres (Clodoaldo Brito) featuring Codo

Doris Monteiro – Doris Monteiro EP (197?), by Trix. Tracks include:

I Loronix Singles Festival – Oswaldo Nunes & The Pop’s, Eva & Joao Roberto Kelly

This is the first edition of Loronix Singles Festival, just to save our time and make several singles accessible from a single (sorry!) download package. First edition has 3 artists, as follows:

Oswaldo Nunes & The Pop’s (1968), for Equipe. Great surprise, I never saw an Equipe single before and in spite of a non-specific cover artwork, this one looks modern and truly beautiful. Oswaldo Nunes & The Pop’s delivers something my good friends identify as Samba Rock, something really hard to define with my limited knowledge. Tracks include:

01 – Segura Esse Samba Ogunhe
02 – Eu Chorei

Eva (1969), for Copacabana, brings another nice cover, although is just the opposite from Equipe. Perhaps this cover was even considered antique in 1969, but it is truly beautiful and matches perfect with the label design in the middle. Tracks include:

01 – Cantiga por Luciana
02 – Meu Mundo

Joao Roberto Kelly – Joao Roberto Kelly (1980), for Copacabana, a very recent single taking in consideration the previous ones. We have a different Joao Roberto Kelly this time, performing as a romantic singer and making a wonderful job. Tracks include:

01 – Mistura
02 – A Solidao Chegou

.

Não tinha esses compactos. Porém, graças aos amigos Amilcar e Martoni, eles podem ser buscados na Rádio Forma e Elenco.

Hello, Good Evening! Saturday is Samba at Loronix and I have no doubt we are starting great with this compacto duplo (EP), featuring a acclaimed Samba group from the 70’s that delivers Samba in a way I think it should be. This should amaze our Samba enthusiasts. Let’s see.

This is O Conjunto Nosso Samba – Samba ’73 (1972), for Copacabana. I never heard anything from these guys before and I like it very much. They make Samba just like the Escolas de Samba from the old times, slower than today and groovy. Attention to track 03 – Tem Capoeira, a very popular Samba tune from the old times. Tracks include:

01 – Tra-La-La, Lamartine Babo, Um Hino ao Carnaval Brasileiro (Darcy do Nascimento / Oliviel de Oliveira)
02 – O Saber Poetico da Literatura de Cordel (Baianinho)
03 – Tem Capoeira (Batista da Mangueira)
04 – Viagem Encantada Pindorama a Dentro (Wilson Diabo / Malaquias)

.

Esse disco pode ser buscado no A Tenda de Ramsés.

Singles and EPs, which I think I will call as Compactos from now one, are really cool. My decision was to make them in the weekends, but I cannot resist making at least one per day during this week. Let’s see what we have this time.

This is Claudette Soares – Claudette Soares | EP (1971), for Copacabana, made as a self-titled record, in spite of the original titled available at the back cover, very big, by the way, “Quem Nao e A Maior, Tem que Dar Mais Amor”. This EP has tracks from Claudette Soares – De Tanto Amor (1971) LP, 01 – De Tanto Amor, 02 – Amiga and 05 – Coisas, the remaining ones, 03 – Manequim and 04 – Shirley Sexy were probably first issued here. Roberto Menescal is in charge of production with arrangements by Luiz Claudio and Maestro Francisco de Moraes. Tracks include:

01 – De Tanto Amor (Roberto Carlos / Erasmo Carlos)
02 – Amiga (Roberto Menescal / Paulinho Tapajos)
03 – Manequim (Antonio Adolfo / Tiberio Gaspar)
04 – Shirley Sexy (Fred Falcao / Arnoldo Medeiros)
05 – Coisas (Taiguara)

This one was by accident; I found this little record today inside a bunch of old Brazilian magazines sold by an old lady close to my place. She didn’t know about the album and I had to buy the magazine for one Real to take it home. I think I did a nice deal, the EP never was played before and I could not wait longer to show Loronixers. Let’s see.

This is Wilson Simonal – Promo EP (1970), for Odeon. Shell – the UK oil and gas company – when sponsored the V Festival Internacional da Cancao probably freely distributed this record. The EP feature three songs, the anthem of the festival, Cada um Cumpra com o Seu Dever, both arranged by Lyrio Panicalli and Brasil, Eu Fico (Jorge Ben). Tracks include:

01 – Hino do V Festival Internacional da Cancao (Miguel Gustavo)
02 – Brasil, Eu Fico (Jorge Ben)
03 – Que Cada um Cumpra com o Seu Dever (Wilson Simonal)
.

Esse disco pode ser buscado no Um que Tenha.

Wonderful. I always thought I was right to pick some singles and EPs, but this album makes me feel that I’m 100% right. There are several treasures to discover on these little records and this one is a great surprise. Never gave a chance to it and when I gave it a spin today it was magic.

This is Os Farroupilhas – Os Farroupilhas EP 45rpm, for Columbia, featuring four tracks of pure beauty, nice repertoire and amazing voice arrangements. Little I know about this album, such as personnel and even release date, perhaps it was made in the early 60’s; it has much of Bossa Nova on it. Tracks include:

01 – Nunca (Lupscinio Rodrigues)
02 – Noites de Moscou (D.P. arrangements & Lyrics Inah Bangel)
03 – Sabado em Copacabana (Dorival Caymmi / Carlos Guinle)
04 – Meu Rio Grande (Garoto)

.

Esse EP pode ser buscado na Rádio Forma e Elenco do Martoni.

Hello, Good Evening! Loronixers are giving a nice response to last weekend posts with singles and EPs, that’s why I decided to release some others this Sunday, starting with this one, a single, featuring Rosamaria Murtinho and Bossa Jazz Trio. The friends from Brazil will be taken by surprise with this tiny record, since Rosamaria Murtinho is most associated as an actress, not as a Bossa Nova singer, great singer by the way. The single features two songs, 01 – Tristeza, arranged by Maestro Francisco de Moraes and 02 – Perdao arranged by Francisco de Moraes and Bossa Jazz Trio. As a little record, no Rapidshare this time, direct link to the music. Tracks include:

01 – Tristeza
02 – Perdao

This is Rosamaria Murtinho & Bossa Jazz Trio (1966), for Fermata, kindly sent by Arara Azul (perhaps I’m wrong, please notify me!), at Loronix.

Hope uEnjoy!

Here we go on another EP, featuring an artist never shown before to Loronixers. Actually, I’m amazed with the new EP possibilities. They are pretty easy to make, for instance, this one is fresh as a cake taken from the oven. It is just a matter to find, bake and serve. The cover fits the scanner and you don’t need to make several scans and stitch everything. Truly great.

This is Cristina – Cristina (1974) for RCA Victor. Cristina is the artistic name of Cristina Buarque de Hollandam sister of the renowned Chico Buarque de Hollanda. She started her professional career in 1967 with a participation on Paulo Vanzolini – Onze Sambas e Uma Capoeira, recording her first and self titled album in 1974 with songs from several Samba names, such as: Dona Ivone Lara, Manaceia, Nelson Cavaquinho, Cartola and others. It is a very well produced album and this EP has four tracks taken from this debut LP. Tracks include:

Personnel

Paulinho da Viola
(cavaquinho)
Cesar Faria
(violao)
Marcal, Eliseu, Luna, Jorginho, Paulinho da Viola, Carlinhos, Henriquinho
(percussion)
Felpudo
(trombone)
Claudio
(bass)

Track List

01 – Agradeço A Deus (Mano Décio da Viola / Dona Ivone Lara)
02 – Comprimido (Paulinho da Viola)
03 – Quantas Lágrimas (Manacéa)
04 – Confesso (Dona Ivone Lara)

.

Esse EP pode ser buscado na Rádio Forma e Elenco do Martoni.

It is cool to show singles and EPs to Loronixers. The format brings always the best picks of the artists and it is a good alternative for those who don’t want to face the long duration LP. In the other hand, there is no much to say about them, as short records, they are not conceptual. Anyway, let’s see the first out of series of singles and EPs scheduled for this week. I hope you like it; the feedback on Tamba was great.

This is Marisa – Marisa (1972), for Odeon as 7BD-1269 with four tracks. I could not check if all tracks were previously released or not on another format. Tracks include:

01 – Viagem (João de Aquino / Paulo César Pinheiro)
02 – Depois De Tanto Amor (Paulinho da Viola)
03 – Estiada (Ivor Lancellotti / Marco Antônio Pinheiro)
04 – Samba do Estácio (Jair Amorim / César Costa Filho)

.

Esse EP pode ser buscado no Parallel Realities e na Rádio Forma e Elenco do Martoni

.

I want to show something different to Loronixers, I would like to introduce a Brazilian artist never released at Loronix, Reginaldo Bessa, a true Bossa Nova legend since the early 60’s. Reginaldo Bessa recorded his first album in 1962 in Argentina, Amor En Bossa Nova, which is probably the first Bossa Nova album recorded by a Brazilian artist outside Brazil. You should visit Reginaldo Bessa website, here, he explains how difficult it was to make that album with Argentinean musicians that never had a previous experience with Bossa Nova.

Anyway, I have good news for the friends who live in Rio de Janeiro; Reginaldo will be performing today at Vinicius Bar, Ipanema, showing his album Amor en Bossa Nova and songs from Antonio Carlos Jobim and Dorival Caymmi. Vinicius Bar is at Rua Vinicius de Moraes, 39 and the concert starts at 10pm.

This is Reginaldo Bessa – Psicomania, for Fermata, kindly sent to Bossanovadreamer and Frank-Oliver to be shown to Loronixers as the concert teaser. Tracks include:

01 – Psicomania
02 – Fica

.

Não tinha esse disco. Porém, graças aos amigos Andreas e Fulano Sicrano, ele pode ser buscado no Um que Tenha. De acordo com o comentário do Frank-Oliver (ver abaixo) esse EP  é de 1965.

Tamba Trio – Tamba Trio EP (1965)

I received some singles and EPs and I will try to make the ones that I like most and the ones with a cover artwork available. Several albums in this format were not released with cover art, they were made available on an envelop with a hole to show the label at the center, such like the old 78 rpm, really hard to identify. Not this one.

This is Tamba Trio – Tamba Trio EP (1965), for Philips, perhaps the first and only EP released by Tamba Trio. I could not identify if these tracks were released on regular 12-inch albums and I will let with you this investigation. Tracks include:

01 – Samba de Verao
02 – So Tinha de Ser Com Voce
03 – Reza
04 – Samblues

.

Não tinha esse disco. Porém, graças aos amigos Andreas e Fulano Sicrano, ele pode ser buscado no Um que Tenha.

Maria da Graca – Maria da Graca (1965) | Gal Costa first single
Publicado em: Thursday, June 21, 2007 by zecalouro

I received a very nice and enthusiastic message from a Loronixer saying many thanks for the Edu Lobo first single, made available a month ago. He said he was looking for it for many years and he really got very help to hear it today, his first day at Loronix. Anyway, Gerry, that is his name, also asked for Gal Costa first single and I could not wait longer to show Gerry and Loronixers. Let’s see.

This is Maria da Graca – Maria da Graca (1965), for RCA Victor. Perhaps in 1965 Maria da Graca was not using her artistic Gal Costa name on this two tracks single featuring Eu Vim da Bahia (Gilberto Gil) and Sim, Foi Voce (Caetano Veloso). Tracks include:

01 – Eu Vim da Bahia (Gilberto Gil)
02 – Sim, Foi Voce (Caetano Veloso)

.

Este compacto pode ser buscado no Um que Tenha.
