Dom Um Romao - The Complete Muse Recordings (1990)

domLet’s close this Thursday with another acclaimed artist with no solo album releases since January 16 2007, one year and two days, the Brazilian drummer, percussionist and composer Dom Um Romao, a important musician during the Bossa Nova years, taking part as sideman on several important albums, including the collaboration between Antonio Carlos Jobim and Frank Sinatra. By the way, Dom Um Romao seems to be a favorite artist of several Loronixers, his last release is among the top five of 2007, in terms of number of downloads by our community. Let’s see.

This is Dom Um Romao – The Complete Muse Recordings (1990), for Muse, featuring two Dom Um Romao albums recorded for Muse, Dom Um Romao (1972) and Spirit of the Times (1973), being the first new at Loronix and the second a repost made available in August 2006. The download package brings lots of details on both albums, including photos, such like this one in the left side of this paragraph. A constellation of Brazilian and American musicians backs Dom Um Romao on both albums. Tracks include:

Airto Moreira - Seeds on the Ground LP (1971)-BACK
This album is so great and so awaited by Loronixers that we will make something really different here, releasing both LP and CD versions. By the way, I have been discussing the value of Bonus Tracks on CD reissues with a friend and we came to a conclusion this tracks are not really useful and sometimes they even spoil the listening experience. Additionally, I think on most cases bonus tracks are some sort of studio leftovers and they were not included as they were not the artist will at that time. Anyway, terrific album and surprisingly out of print. Let’s see. This is Airto Moreira – Seeds on the Ground | The Natural Sound of Airto (1971), for Buddha Records, featuring a constellation of musicians, such as Hermeto Pascoal, Flora Purim, Dom Um Romao, Sivuca and others. This is the kind of self-explanatory release and I just like to thanks the group of friends that made available the album and the original fist issue cover artwork, great accomplishment to Loronix and great teamwork. I’m also curious to check which version, CD or LP, will be the most popular in the forthcoming days. Tracks include:

This video is being reposted due the better quality provided by the mighty Luiz Harding and uniqueness, showing The Weather Report and the Brazilian drummer Dom Um Romao, performing the role of percussionist. Dom Um Romao seems to be the main performing using several weird instruments, including a tamanco or clog in English, which is a type of shoe or sandal made out of wood. We will have a lot of fun with these new images. Do not forget to use the increase lens.

Hope uEnjoy!

I was very curious to hear this record and I had the chance last week when Caetano Rodrigues contributions to Loronixers arrived here on the cage. I’m not disappointed, although the warm reception by critics when this LP was re-issued in CD ten years ago. Caetano’s version is the CD reissue, so you will have a noise free music this time. I miss the noise when hearing this album, I have been hearing only vinyl in the last weeks and a free of noise music sounds strange for me. A self-explanatory release.

This is Dom Um Romao – Hotmosphere (1976), for Pablo Records/Philips, arranged by Celia Vaz and featuring a constellation of renowned musicians from the 70’s. The first batucadas tracks alone worth the admission price, perhaps you will find much more, such as the participation of Sivuca on vocals and accordion, Dom Salvador on Piano and Claudio Roditti on trumpet. A complete personnel listing is available. Tracks include:
