Really nice find of our Para Dancar specialist Mauro R.V., delivering this time a very old album in the 10-inch format, which is also the first Djalma Ferreira LP and the second 10-inch released by the record label Musidisc as Musidisc M-002. Great find Mauro R.V. and thanks a million for your continuous support to Loronix. Mauro R.V. needs special thanks from our community; he purchased a scanner, just to make better contributions. And as you can see at this cover, Mauro is doing great. Let’s see.
This is Djalma Ferreira e Milionarios do Ritmo – Parada de Danca Nr. 1 (1953), for Musidisc, featuring seven Djalma Ferreira compositions and a Samba by Nestor Campos and Walter Santos. Parada de Danca Nr. 1 also features the Brazilian singer Helena de Lima as special guest on tracks 07 and 08. Actually, I’m not sure if she makes a special participation or Helena de Lima is a member of Milionarios do Ritmo. Anyway, Helena de Lima recorded her first solo LP three years later at Continental. Tracks include:
01 – Romance (Djalma Ferreira) Beguine
02 – Samba no Perroquet (Djalma Ferreira) Samba
03 – Fantasia (Djalma Ferreira) Beguine
04 – Brigas e Pazes (Djalma Ferreira) Beguine
05 – Concerto Em Samba (Djalma Ferreira) Samba
06 – Casa do Loló (J. Bicalho / Djalma Ferreira) Samba
07 – Tanto Quanto Eu (Nestor Campos / W. Santos) Samba with Helena de Lima
08 – Eu Já Não Sei (Djalma Ferreira / C. Nunes) Samba with Helena de Lima

Link original: Helena de Lima – Dentro da Noite (1956) 10-inch

I know this album was released first in other places, recently made available at Green Eyed Lady, which celebrates today her 100,000 visitors milestone, and perhaps you already have this important album in your collection. However, I think he also belongs to Loronix, and I put all my resources available to pick up a very nice vinyl and make the transfer with attention. Anyway, consider it an upgrade if you already have your copy and take it as a must have if it is the first time you are being introduced to it. Let’s see.
This is Helena de Lima – Dentro da Noite (1956), for Continental, 10-inch, the first album by the Brazilian singer Helena de Lima, backed up by the piano of Ribamar. Dentro da Noite also brings the first recording of a very early composition of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Newton Mendonca, 05 – Foi a Noite. Do not miss this beautiful album. Tracks include:
01 – Antigamente (Vadico / Jarbas Melo)
02 – Abandonado (Esdras Pereira da Silva / Ribamar (1) / Walter Barros)
03 – Renúncia (Marino Pinto)
04 – Não Há de Que (Helena de Lima / Marino Pinto / Mário Rossi)
05 – Foi a Noite (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
06 – E Nada Mais (César Siqueira / Maria Rita)
07 – Foi Você (Marino Pinto / Paulo Soledade)
08 – Revolta (Vadico / Marino Pinto)
Additional info: I forgot to say that Bossa Brasileira was the first website to make this album available for Brazilian music fans last year. Bossa Brasileira is owned and maintained by Thiago Mello that delivers professional reviews in English and Portuguese. I recommend and urge Loronixers to read Thiago’s review on Helena de Lima and the solid Brazilian music selection available at Bossa Brasileira, http://bossa-brasileira.blogspot.com.

I’m a big fan of stories, photos and everything about the nightclubs from Rio de Janeiro in the 50’s to 60’s. Why not post the music performed on these nightclubs? Yesterday we had the chance to know Sacha, the pianist and owner of Sacha’s, a nightclub at Leme – were I had the chance to live for some years on an apartment at the same building of Sacha’s – that lasts until the late 90’s.
Let’s take from this time another live performance on a nightclub, the legendary Drink. Meet Helena de Lima – Uma Noite no Drink (1969). Helena de Lima performs here that traditional pout-porri with Noel Rosa compositions and additional eleven tracks, selected from the most popular Samba-Cancao tunes of that time. Tracks include:
01 – Conversa de Botequim (Noel Rosa / Vadico) — Com Que Roupa (Noel Rosa) — Não Tem Tradução (Noel Rosa) — Três Apitos (Noel Rosa) — Feitiço da Vila (Noel Rosa / Vadico) — Palpite Infeliz (Noel Rosa) — Feitio de Oração (Noel Rosa / Vadico)
02 – Atende Amor (Helena de Lima / Eny de Oliveira)
03 – Leva Meu Samba (Ataulfo Alves)
04 – Sim Ou Não (Luis Bandeira)
05 – Samba do Preto Forro (João Laurindo / Oldemar Magalhães)
06 – Quero Abrir Meus Braços (Paulo Soledade)
07 – Eu Te Amo (Ribamar (1) / Romeo Nunes)

I was talking with a great friend about Brazilian instrumental music. He said that at the 78 rpm age, the military bands had a great importance, releasing several records and were of a great help on the popularization of musical instruments, such as brass and percussion.
Remembering this conversation, zecalouro presents Helena de Lima – a great Brazilian singer, active from the early 50’s until the mid 70’s – and a renowned Brazilian military band, Banda da Policia Militar do Estado da Guanabara, which is still active with the name of Companhia de Músicos da Policia Militar do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.
This LP landmark the first recording of a popular singer in front of a military band in Brazil, it will be very interest to see the great Helena de Lima, performing in front of a disciplined group of military musicians. Tracks include:
01 – Marcha da Quarta-feira de Cinzas (Vinicius de Moraes / Carlos Lyra)
02 – Aleluia de Um Imenso Amor (Silvino Neto)
03 – As Pastorinhas (João de Barro / Noel Rosa)
04 – Porta Estandarte (Geraldo Vandré / Fernando Lona)
05 – Fantasia (Haroldo Barbosa / Raul Mascarenhas)
06 – Noite dos Mascarados (Chico Buarque)
07 – Triste Fim dos Carnavais (Klécius Caldas)
08 – Ressurreição dos Velhos Carnavais (Lamartine Babo)
09 – Pequena Marcha Para Um Grande Amor (Juca Chaves)
10 – São Flores (Helena de Lima / Orlando Henriques)
11 – Pierrot de Cetim (Fernando César / João Leal Brito “britinho”)
12 – Sonho de Pierrot (Luis Antônio)
