I cannot remember if this is the first contribution made by the powerful AdHoc with music transferred from vinyl, instead of CD. There is a huge technical difference between both transfers, everything is simple with a CD, the audio is transferred by a digital process, no noise, and the covers are small and easy to transfer in any scanner. In the other hand, vinyl transfers are different and complex; you should play the whole album while transferring and later use noise reduction software, having in mind the balance between improving against loosing sound quality. I got tired only defining the audio transfer, but the cover is also a pain, it is necessary to scan and stitch four parts of the cover to make a single one.

All to say and thank AdHoc for this amazing and professional vinyl transfer that seems to be from a CD, but was transferred from vinyl, since inexplicably, Tiro de Misericordia never had a chance to be released on CD. Let’s see.

This is Joao Bosco – Tiro de Misericordia (1977), for RCA, the fourth Joao Bosco career album, preceded by the excellent Galos de Briga, Caca a Raposa e Joao Bosco self-titled debut album, released in 1973. Tiro de Misericordia (Mercy Shot) brings compositions of Joao Bosco with Aldir Blanc, a frequent collaborator at the start of Joao Bosco career and Cristina Buarque – again! – singing on track 06 – Vaso Ruim Nao Quebra. Loronix Preview Center features 09 – Bijuterias, a delicious tune and one of the great Joao Bosco hits. Tracks include:

Disco de Bolso - O Tom de Antonio Carlos Jobim e O Tal de Joao Bosco (1972)

Label

Hello, good evening! This is so far the greatest zecalouro’s mother finding. Actually, not a finding, she had this little recorded since 1972 and both did not remember. She found it inside a closet and called immediately to announce her finding.

When I told her she had the first recording of Aguas de Marco, released on May, 1972, months before the “official” release at Matita Pere, she got really amazed and send it in the next day for us. This recording was released in Disco de Bolso magazine, a bonus recorded included in the anthological magazine Pasquim. Let’s see.

This is Disco de Bolso – O Tom de Antonio Carlos Jobim e o Tal de Joao Bosco (1972), for Zen, featuring the Side A with the first recording of Aguas de Marco and Side B with the first recording of Joao Bosco (probably unknown by that time), performing Agnus Sei. Aguas de Marco is very different from the version released in Matita Pere, it is faster than usual and Antonio Carlos Jobim seems to have a hard time trying to sing on such speed. The recording occurs inside the studio of Sergio Ricardo, the editor of Disco de Bolso magazine, a nice idea that had only a second edition with Caetano Veloso and Fagner. This is another important piece of history being released at Loronix. Tracks include:

Personnel

Antonio Carlos Jobim
(voice)
Bebeto (Tamba Trio), Paulinho Jobim, Franklin, Paulo, Ratto
(flute)
Joao Palma
(percussion)
Novelli
(bass)
Eduardo Athayde
(violao)

Track List

01 – Aguas de Marco (Antonio Carlos Jobim) with Antonio Carlos Jobim
02 – Agnus Sei (Joao Bosco / Aldir Blanc) with Joao Bosco

Joao Bosco & Aldir Blanc - Nova Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira (1976)

Here we go on another Nova Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira album, a series that Loronixers always give good feedback. Loronix is not aiming to release the whole set of albums, but the ones that really worth our attention, such like this one, featuring this very important duo of Brazilian songwriters. Let’s see.

This is Joao Bosco & Aldir Blanc – Nova Historia da Musica Popular Brasileira (1976), for Abril Cultural. Different from yesterday, where Sergio Ricardo performed all songs, we have special guests at this edition, Elis Regina, performing three tracks and Ademilde Fonseca. Actually, it is impossible to address Joao Bosco and Aldir Blanc without opening a full chapter for Elis Regina, she was certainly the most important interpreter of their compositions. Tracks include:

01 – Agnus Sei (João Bosco / Aldir Blanc) with João Bosco
02 – Bala Com Bala (João Bosco / Aldir Blanc) with Elis Regina
03 – Títulos de Nobreza (João Bosco / Aldir Blanc) with Ademilde Fonseca
04 – Caça à Raposa (João Bosco / Aldir Blanc) with Elis Regina
05 – O Mestre Sala dos Mares (João Bosco / Aldir Blanc) with João Bosco
06 – De Frente Pro Crime (João Bosco / Aldir Blanc) with João Bosco

08 – Dois Prá Lá Dois Prá Cá (João Bosco / Aldir Blanc) with Elis Regina

Caetano Rodrigues was absolutely right last week when he recommended to take a look at this classic early material by the Brazilian singer and songwriter Joao Bosco, brand new artist at Loronix, in response to the last Neusa Maria release. Thanks for it Caetano, actually, I would say this album is performed by two artists, Joao Bosco and his longtime lyrics partner, the legendary Aldir Blanc. Let’s check what we have inside this truly amazing cover.

This is Joao Bosco – Galos de Briga (1976), for RCA Victor, very nice produced album by Joao Bosco with mysterious boleros and ballads and very good Samba tunes. Aldir Blanc lyrics are all about the way of life in Rio de Janeiro with surrealistic scenes of futebol (soccer), wife and husband matters, favelas, etc. There is also a lot of the legendary Luiz Eca contribution to Galos de Briga, he is in charge of arrangements, conduction and also piano playing. Galos de Briga is another of those Brazilian albums from the 70’s with that never ending personnel listing that makes you feel curious about when reading, made available just bellow. Tracks include:
