Hello, good evening! I was not thinking about posting this album by Les 4 Cadillacs today, but I making it for gratitude, Les 4 Cadillacs worked nicely with zecalouro today. zecalouro (the parrot) was really annoying this afternoon, saying bad things, such as: mengo and the name of someone that I don’t like. He knows this thing really drives me crazy and I could not concentrate on the work I was doing.

So, I decided to take it for a spin with him. I put zecalouro just beside the turntable (he likes to see the vinyl spinning) and I laid down on the couch to wait for the results. The results were fantastic, zecalouro started saying good things such like: I love you daddy, scratch my head, good night, you are my friend, and even tried to sing the melodies he creates on top of some songs. I felt sleeping close to the end of both sides and he called myself yelling “it is over” when the record stops spinning.

I was mad with zecalouro and Les 4 Cadillacs saved my day. By the way, why I’m telling these things? I’m getting nuts, definitively. Anyway, this album is dedicated to zecalouro, my demanding and smart green friend.

This is Les 4 Cadillacs – Les 4 Cadillacs (1964), for Musidisc, the last album recorded by this anthological Musidisc creation lead by Ed Lincoln. I think Loronix has now the whole Les 4 Cadillacs discography, five albums recorded from 1961 until this last 1964 release. Personnel listing is made available according with Vinylmaniac information. Hello, good evening! Let’s start today with a group that started as “trial” and now is a real mania among Loronixers, I’m talking about Les 4 Cadillacs, another nice creation of Musidisc owner Nilo Sergio. We have already three Les 4 Cadillacs albums available at Loronix, and this one is perhaps the best one, being also the most popular, perhaps by the cover showing these four Cadillacs. Let’s see.

This is Les 4 Cadillacs – Les 4 Cadillacs (1963), for Musidisc. We have a major change on our Les 4 Cadillacs sequel, in addition to the band leader, the legendary Ed Lincoln at the piano, vinylmaniac provided a couple of days ago the identification of the three other Cadillacs, thanks vinylmaniac! They are: Durval Ferreira (guitar), Luis Marinho (bass) and Wilson das Neves (drums). This is an awesome revelation. Tracks include:

Ed Lincoln
Durval Ferreira
Luis Marinho

Here we go on what is gradually becoming a mania, Les 4 Cadillacs. Several friends are requesting this third release, made today as an additional post to the regular three daily releases. Let’s see.

This is Les 4 Cadillacs – Doucement, Cherie (1962), for Musidisc. Remembering that Les 4 Cadillacs is Ed Lincoln at piano backed by not credited musicians on bass, drums and guitar. Once again, Les 4 Cadillacs delivers anxiolytic renditions of American and French songs, starting and ending with Sweet Melody (Jean Paques). I’m showing a reissue made in 1971 by Replay label, instead of the original Musidisc. The cover is much better and the vinyl perfect. Tracks include:

01 – Sweet Melody (J. Paques)
02 – Nessuno Al Mondo (Rastelli / Gioia)
03 – Georgia On My Mind (H. Carmichael)
04 – Pepe (H. Wittstatt)
05 – Non Dimenticar (P. G. Redi / M. Galdieri)
06 – Maria (L. Bernstein / S. Sondheim)
07 – Aimer Comme Je T’aime (H. Giraud)
08 – I Can’t Stop Loving You (D. Gibson)
09 – When You Wish Upon a Star (N. Whashington / L. Harline)
10 – Quando (Tenco)
11 – A Foogy Day (George Gershwin / Ira Gershwin)
12 – C’este Magnifique (Cole Porter)
13 – Non Partire (Bracchi / D’Anzi)
14 – Sweet Melody (J. Paques)`

Não tinha esse disco. Porém, graças aos amigos Eliane e Martoni, ele pode ser buscado na Rádio Forma e Elenco.

Notem, de novo, a presença de “Jean Paques”.

I will never do this thing again, I said I had three albums from this Ed Lincoln’s group Les 4 Cadillacs and would make only one at Loronix. Since then, I received many emails from friends asking for the others. Ed Lincoln fans are really focused, even when Ed Lincoln is not performing with organ using his own artistic name. Let’s see how this one performs.

This is Les 4 Cadillacs – Doucement Novamente (1961), for Musidisc, following the same formula we knew at Doucement, Mon Amour, Ed Lincoln at the piano with not credited musicians playing an easy-listening repertoire of international music. There is an important difference; each side approaches a different continent. Side A brings rendition to Americas with songs from Brazil, United States, Cuba, Mexico, Paraguay and Argentina, while Side B brings Europe, featuring songs from Germany, Italy, URSS, France, Portugal and Spain. Liner notes written by Sebastiao Fonseca also refers the name of Jean Pacques. I could not understand why and I hope someone explains it. Tracks include:

01 – Sweet Melody (Jean Paques) – I Could Have Danced All Night (A. J. Lerner / F. Loewe)
02 – Canção de Amor Cubano (H. Stothart / J. McHugh / D. Fields) – Cubanacan (M. Simons)
03 – Chove Lá Fora (Tito Madi) – Se Todos Fossem Iguais a Você (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
04 – Recuerdos de Ypacarai (Demetrio Ortiz / Z. Mirkin) – Índia (José Asunción Flores / Manuel Ortiz Guerrero)
05 – Besame Mucho (Consuelo Velasquez) – Amoe Amor Amor (Gabriel Ruiz / R. L. Mendes)
06 – El Dia En Qu Me Quieras (Carlos Gardel / Alfredo Le Pera) – Jealousie (J. Gade)
07 – Moritat (Meck The Knife) (Kurt Weill / Bertold Brecht) – Liechtensteiner Polka (E. Kotscher / R. Lind)
08 – Tua (G. Malgoni / B. Pallesi) – Mama (Collazo)
09 – Olhos Negros (Tradicional) – Noites de Moscou (I. Dunayevsky)
10 – C’est Si Bom (H. Betti / A. Hornez) – Mon Oncle (F. Barcellini / H. Contet / J. C. Carrieri)
11 – Canção do Mar (Ferrer Trindade / F. de Brito) – Sempre Que Lisboa Canta (Carlos Rocha / Aníbal Nazareth)
12 – La Violetera (J. Padilla / E. Montesinos) – Madrid (Agustin Lara) – Sweet Melody (Jean Paques)

Esse disco pode ser buscado na Rádio Forma e Elenco do Martoni.  De novo, referência a Jean Paques, como no outro disco dos Les 4 Cadillacs.

Les 4 Cadillacs – Doucement, Mon Amour (1962)

Publicado em: Wednesday, September 05, 2007 by zecalouro

Since the first month of Loronix, several friends have been asking for an album by this Brazilian group Les 4 Cadillacs, a creation of Nilo Sergio, Musidisc owner. The reason is the presence of Ed Lincoln at the piano on every album by this quartet. Since then, I found the first and decided to wait for the second, when I found the second I thought it was better waiting for the third. This is the third one, slight better than the others, just for Ed Lincoln fans and completionists.

This is Les 4 Cadillacs – Doucement, Mon Amour… (1962), for Masterpiece Master, Musidisc subsidiary, featuring Ed Lincoln at the piano and the other remain not credited Cadillacs at bass, drums and guitar. The quartet performs an easy listening repertoire based on American and French music. As I said before, this is fans and completionists stuff. Tracks include:

01 – As Time Goes By (H. Hupfeld)
02 – La Mer (Charles Trenet)
03 – You Belong To Meu (C. Price / R. Stewart / P. Weking)
04 – Marie Marie (Gilbert Bécaud / Delanoe)
05 – Melancolie (A. Romans)
06 – Oui Oui Oui (Cour / Giraud)
07 – Just One Of Those Things (Cole Porter)
08 – Ruby (H. Roemheld / M. Parish)
09 – My Foolish Heart (V. Young / N. Washington)
10 – Music Music Music (S. Weiss / B. Baum)
11 – You Stepped Out Of a Dream (N. H. Brown / Guskahn)
12 – Moon River (J. Mercer / Henry Mancini)
