Link original: Mario Albanese e Seu Conjunto – Insonia (1959)
Publicado em: Wednesday, March 12, 2008 by zecalouro
Hello, good evening! Yesterday I was very tired; actually, I was really exhausted, with several non-sleeping hours accumulated in the previous day. After posting Chico Buarque and Cristina single, I went to my room couch to read the back cover of this fantastic Mario Albanese LP, supposed to be yesterday’s closing post. I slept accidentally on the couch, waking up in the morning with the zecalouro shouting “good day” and demanding my attention. I believe it is fair to start today showing Mario Albanese and his debut LP for Odeon. Let’s see.
This is Mario Albanese e Seu Conjunto – Insonia (1959), for Odeon. I think Caetano Rodrigues will be amazes with this pretty unknown Mario Albanese album, which is his debut LP for Odeon. Instead of being in the safe zone performing renditions of standards, Mario Albanese delivers his own compositions at his first album, with his piano backed by Conjunto. Little I know about Mario Albanese e Seu Conjunto members, but I’m quite sure we have here a very solid listen that you should taste at Loronix Preview Center and then come back here to get the whole experience provided by the great Mario Albanese. Tracks include:

I’m back with another Caetano Rodrigues LP, once again, a record that I never heard before. Main performer is Mario Albanese, an artist that I could only get along with Loronix and the advice of Refer. Among other things, Refer told me that Mario Albanese was the creator of a new rhythm, Jequibau. Thanks also to Budi Garcia, he made me happy a couple of days ago saying that Loronix helped him out to discover Jequibau, saying also that he will start hunting international albums based on Jequibau music. Let’s see what Caetano has to show us this time.
This is Mario Albanese – Coisas de Amor (1962), for Chantecler, featuring Elcio Alvares Orchestra. This record was released and record before Albanese’s Jequibau creation. It will be really nice to see the early Mario Albanese before Jequibau years. Thanks Caetano for this release. Tracks include:
01 – Coisas de Amor (Mário Albanese)
02 – Sol (Silvio Tancredi / Mário Albanese)
03 – Chá Chá Para Dois (Mário Albanese)
04 – Insônia (Mário Albanese / Heitor Carillo)
05 – Sede de Amor (Mário Albanese)
06 – Suave É a Noite (Paul Francis Webster / S. Fain)
07 – Um Punhadinho de Estrelas (Mário Albanese)
08 – Canção do Amor Feliz (Sieben Weisse Rosen) (J. Hermann)
09 – Rimas de Ninguém (Vera Brasil)
10 – Ausência (Sebastião Silva / Ivan Pires)
11 – Saudade Tristeza e Ninguém (Mário Albanese / Silvio Tancredi)
12 – Sônia (Mário Albanese / Élcio Álvarez)
13 – Prelúdio Para Ninar Gente Grande (Luis Vieira)
Este disco pode ser buscado na Rádio Forma e Elenco do Martoni.

Zecalouro is proud to make this LP available at Loronix, meet Mario Albanese – Jequibau (1966), an important LP for Brazilian music.
Mario Albanese is a pianist with a classical background and an important Brazilian music researcher. Being also a journalist, Mario Albanese had an active production of articles and reviews for several Brazilian newspapers, TV and Radio shows as well. With Cyro Pereira, which was his partner on most of his compositions, Mario Albanese invented the “Jequibau”, an unique rhythm based on a 5/4 compass based and influenced by the Brazilian folklore.
The Jequibau rhythm had a moment of glory in Europe and United States acclaimed by other musicians and specialized press. However, Jequibau never got popularity and it is a cult piece for any serious vinyl collectors around the word.
This is Jequibau. This post is only available by the great help provided by the POWERLoronixer Refer to zecalouro, for whom it is being dedicated. Thanks Refer. Tracks include:
01 – Tarde Quente
02 – O Fim
03 – Sim
04 – Foi Assim
05 – No Balanco do Jequibau
06 – Modulando
07 – Granada
08 – Se Nao Fosse o Se
09 – Jequibau
10 – Esperando o Sol
The cover artwork is from the International release, which is better and nicer than Brazilian.
