Nana Caymmi - Nana Caymmi (1975)

I bought this album from the hands of a guy living in the streets, on acceptable conditions a few months ago. The price paid not even buy a can of soft drink, for example. It is part of human nature to do not value to the things that are easy conquered. It was exactly what happened with this album, stored and forgotten for months. Great waste of my part; this record is one of the best Nana Caymmi solo LPs and has the participation of Antonio Carlos Jobim and a breathtaking cast. Let’s see.

This is Nana Caymmi – Nana Caymmi (1975), for CID, the second Nana Caymmi solo album, recorded after a hiatus of 10 years since her debut LP for Elenco in 1965. Nana Caymmi got married with a Venezuelan doctor and moved there in 1959. Then she came back in seven years later. In terms of comparison, this album shows a completely different artist from 1965 Elenco debut. Loronix Preview Center features 01 – Ponta de Areia (Milton Nascimento / Fernando Brant), with backing vocals by Milton Nascimento and the piano of Maestro Antonio Carlos Jobim. Tracks include:

Nana Caymmi - Nana (1977)

InsidePOST (1)

I was googling something that I cannot remember this week when I found an article written by Aramis Millarch in 1977 at the great Tabloide Digital. Millarch said that Nana Caymmi was among the top five Brazilian singer and ironically she was widely unknown by the audience in Brazil. Immediately, I went to Loronix to Find It Nana Caymmi and I got surprised when Find It returned only one album, made available almost two years ago. It is necessary to bring Nana Caymmi to Loronix first page. Let’s see.

This is Nana Caymmi – Nana (1977), for RCA Victor, featuring Joao Donato, Dori Caymmi, Durval Ferreira (diretor criativo) and Dorival Caymmmi as special guest on track 02 – Milagre. This is a beauty of an album recorded by a great singer with a great team of musicians. Most of these tunes are well known by Nana Caymmi and other artist’s performances with my highlights on 02 – Milagre, 05 – Falam de Mim, 08 – Cais and 09 – Se Queres Saber, which is the track listed at Loronix Preview Center. Tracks include:

Nana Caymmi is Dorival Caymmi famous daughter, an established singer and surely one of the greatest Brazilian Diva. Nana is easily recognized by her deep voice and is also a composer, recorded by Milton Nascimento and other Brazilian giants.

This album is the first ever in her career, Nana Caymmi – Serie Estreia (1965). The early and young Nana shows here everything she could deliver on her remaining albums. Arranged with passion by Oscar Castro Neves, which took care of never pushing Nana too much, and letting her vocal expressions open like she was singing for her great father and family. Titles include songs of Dorival Caymmi, Tom Jobim, Paulo Sergio Valle, Eumir Deodato, among others.

It is a mandatory album for any collector. After this debut, Nana entered into an artistic hiatus to be dedicated to her marriage, delivering a new album only ten years later.
