Hello! Yesterday, more like a kind of therapy than anything else in this crazy 2009, I made a script that addresses a very old request of Loronix community. It is already available and you probably have seen it. Now we have an option to download individual tracks from a disc, instead of the whole album on a huge zip ball. It is always available as “Individual Tracks” on post closing information (if the size is set to 0,00Mb, don’t worry, the robot will fix it). It is an amazing feature, which is gradually being materialized by a robot that works 24hours a day with no complaints. It is beautiful; he is taking files from Rapidshare, opening on our dedicated server, reading its contents, recording all the information on a database and sending everything back to Rapidshare as single tracks.

Some very interesting numbers were collected so far. From a total of 1894 albums available, the robot has finished with 599, making available 5836 tracks for individual hearing. I believe that in the end of the process we will have 20,000 tracks available. These numbers are crazy and they open possibilities for several innovations in the near future. Additionally, images are also being addressed and so far we have 1350 images available. I’m impressed with these figures. If you have any idea to make use and maximize this work, please drop me a line.

I’m talking today. Perhaps Nara Leao is giving a chance. Nara Leao is the most representative Bossa Nova singer and everybody loves her. Let’s see.

This is Nara Leao – Com Acucar e Com Afeto (1980), for Philips, featuring Chico Buarque compositions and Chico Buarque participation as special guest on three tracks. It is a common mistake to take this one as another Nara Leao release, with the same title and different cover, a commercially available compilation. Nara’s tribute to Chico Buarque is produced and arranged by Octavio Burnier and features a constellation of Brazilian musicians. Tracks include:

Nara Leão - Meu Primeiro Amor-1975-Back

Hello, good evening! There are confusing week and others that are dominated by stagnation and calm, and this one was really confusing. Additionally, it is raining in Rio de Janeiro and the weather starts getting cold. I came home with an idea in mind to listen this Nara Leao album, which is one that I never had the chance to hear before. A first and single listen is not enough to guarantee, but I think we have hear a very solid listen. Meu Primeiro Amor was recorded just before the acclaimed Bossa Nova album Dez Anos Depois, considered by many one of the best Nara Leao releases and both are completely different from each other. Let’s see.

This is Nara Leao – Meu Primeiro Amor (1975), for Philips, featuring Nara Leao performing an unusual repertoire made of folklore and child songs, which is something that Nara Leao defines very well at Meu Primeiro Amor back cover, reproduced here and also available inside the music, great and sweet music that you cannot miss to start a very good weekend. Tracks include:

Nara Inside

I had lot of work to choose this final post. I was looking for something new from Elza Soares, not released at Loronix since last year, but Elza fits well on a Samba day, such like tomorrow, Saturday. Then I found this brand new Nara Leao album, very well produced with arrangements by Joao Donato and Antonio Adolfo. I think we will enter this Saturday in very good company, which is my birthday. Let’s see.

This is Nara Leao – Nasci para Bailar (1983), for Philips, featuring arrangements by Joao Donato and Antonio Adolfo, as described on track listing. Philips, which is really disappointing, did not credit musicians in this session, this album is very well produced and brings a beautiful insert with this nice picture of Nara Leao and lyrics, but any musician received credits for its participation. Anyway, I hope you had a lot of fun with Loronix this Friday with Find It updated and that great Henri Salvador album sent by Cyril. Have a nice weekend. Tracks include:

01 – Nasci Para Bailar (Paulo André / João Donato) JD
02 – Pede Passagem (Sidney Miller) AA
03 – Luz do Sol (Caetano Veloso) AA
04 – Supõe (Supon) (Silvio Rodrigues / Vrs. Chico Buarque) AA
05 – Maravilha Curativa (Miltinho / Kledir Ramil) AA
06 – Tô Com o Diabo no Corpo (Sivuca / Paulinho Tapajós) AA
07 – Questão de Tempo (Kleiton Ramil) AA
08 – Manto Negro (Élton Medeiros / Antônio Valente) AA
09 – Gaiolas Abertas (João Donato / Martinho da Vila) JD
10 – Imagina Só (Imaginate) (Silvio Rodrigues / Vrs. Chico Buarque) AA
11 – Caso do Acaso (David Tygel) AA
12 – Penar (Antônio Adolfo / Paulinho Tapajós) AA
13 – A Primeira Sentença (Túlio Mourão) AA

Nara & Menescal - Um Cantinho, Um Violao (1985)

In the first day with JOAO-SP contributions, I’m happy to make available two albums from his collection. It was very easy to decide for this one among many choices available, Nara Leao is a favorite singer of many friends and I never had the chance to hear this album. I think a couple of different spins are required to make a final evaluation, but in a first hearing, this is a really nice record, featuring only Nara Leao voice and Roberto Menescal guitar. Let’s see.

This is Nara Leao e Roberto Menescal | Nara & Menescal – Um Cantinho, Um Violao (1985), for Philips, featuring a repertoire of Bossa Nova standards with a song with lyrics in Spanish and other with lyrics in English. Nara Leao voice is good as always, but what amazed me most today was Roberto Menescal, delivering a very nice guitar playing using different styles with some wise solutions. My highlight goes to track 10 – Comigo e Assim (Luiz Bittencourt / Ze Menezes), which is the one made available for your try at Loronix Preview Center. Tracks include:

01 – O Negócio É Amar (Carlos Lyra / Dolores Duran)
02 – Tristeza de Nós Dois (Durval Ferreira / Maurício Einhorn / Bebeto)
03 – Sabor a Mi (Álvaro Carrillo)
04 – Da Cor do Pecado (Bororó)
05 – Transparências (Roberto Menescal / Abel Silva)
06 – Blusão (Roberto Menescal / Xico Chaves)
07 – Resignação (Geraldo Pereira / Arnô Provenzano)
08 – Vestígios (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle)
09 – There Will Never Be Another You (M. Gordon / H. Warren)
10 – Comigo É Assim (Luis Bittencourt / José Menezes)
11 – Mentiras (João Donato / Lysias Ênio)
12 – Inclinações Musicais (Geraldo Azevedo / Renato Rocha)

Nara Leao - Abracos (1984)

Nara Leao - Abracos (1984)-BACKfeliznatalzecaThis year, Christmas follows immediately the weekend and I think it is a good idea to say Feliz Natal to our community right now, maybe friends will leave tomorrow morning for a big weekend and I would like to leave Loronix message sooner. Nara Leao, Edu Lobo & Tamba Trio – 5 na Bossa (1965)

5 na Bossa (1965)

5 na Bossa (1965)-BACK

Here we go with another essential album being reposted at Loronix. It’s unbeliveable this one did not have a repost yet, it was released in June 2006, one of the first albums made available at Loronix. Things have changed since then, the original post had a single file of 32Mb with ten tracks at MP3 format and now a single track on FLAC, 10 – Consolacao, has 42Mb. Each aspect was upgraded, including a better scan of this awesome cover artwork. Let’s see.

This is Nara Leao, Edu Lobo & Tamba Trio – 5 na Bossa (1965), for Philips, a live recording featuring 3 of the most groundbreaking artists of the bossa era. The set was recorded in one of the Bossa Nova temples in the 60’s, Teatro Paramount in Sao Paulo. I think 5 na Bossa brings one of the first Nara Leao live recordings, her voice is lovely as usual, but a little bit constrained in some tracks. She performs alone in four tracks and duets with Edu Lobo on Aleluia, which is the track I like most on this set. Edu Lobo performs on three tracks while Tamba Trio has two instrumental cuts and delivers accompaniment all over the session. Tracks include:

Personnel

NARA LEAO

EDU LOBO

TAMBA TRIO

Luiz Eca
(piano, vocals)
Bebeto
(bass, flute, vocals)
Ohana
(drums, vocals)

Track List

01 – Carcará (João do Vale / José Cândido) – NARA LEAO
02 – Reza (Edu Lobo / Ruy Guerra) – EDU LOBO
03 – O Trem Atrasou (Vilarinho / Estanislau Silva / Paquito) – NARA LEAO
04 – Zambi (Edu Lobo / Vinicius de Moraes) – EDU LOBO
05 – Consolação (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes) – TAMBA TRIO
06 – Aleluia (Edu Lobo / Ruy Guerra) – NARA LEAO / EDU LOBO
07 – Cicatriz (Zé Keti / Hermínio Bello de Carvalho) – NARA LEAO
08 – Estatuinha (Edu Lobo / Gianfrancesco Guarnieri) – EDU LOBO

Nara Leao – Nara Leao (1968)

26 11 2012

AdHoc strikes again and without knowing sent a perfect closing to this celebration of the first Bossa Nova US concert at Carnegie Hall. Nara Leao is truly the Bossa Nova muse, favorite of many Loronixers. I never thought to make this album available at Loronix, this cover artwork looks so modern that I always took this album as a Nara Leao album from the 80s. I had the chance to hear it for the first time today and seem to me this is Nara Leao Tropicalia album, featuring arrangements of Maestro Rogerio Duprat and several early Caetano Veloso compositions. It is not necessary to say that AdHoc delivers best of breed transfers and awesome cover scans from both vinyl and CD versions. Let’s see.

This is Nara Leao – Nara Leao (1968), for Philips. I had a very limited time to get this album atmosphere to write an adequate review, AdHoc delivers the CD version, with lots of complimentary information, including Nara Leao review for each track. So I will let you with Nara Leao, featuring 12 tracks issued in 1968 with two additional CD bonus tracks with the last one featuring Jorge Neri as special guest. Just a little additional thought, track 01 – Lindoneia (Caetano Veloso) is very familiar and it is probably the same version included at Tropicalia – Panis et Circenses, an album that I’m tracking down since the beginning of Loronix. Tracks include:

01 – Lindonéia (Caetano Veloso)
02 – Quem É (Custódio Mesquita / Juraci Camargo)
03 – Donzela Por Piedade Não Perturbes (J. S. Arvelos)
04 – Mamãe Coragem (Caetano Veloso / Torquato Neto)
05 – Anoiteceu (Francis Hime / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 – Modinha (Villa-Lobos / Manuel Bandeira)
07 – Infelizmente (Lamartine Babo / Ari Pavão)
08 – Odeon (Ernesto Nazareth / Vinicius de Moraes)
09 – Mulher (Custódio Mesquita / Sady Cabral)
10 – Medroso de Amor (Alberto Nepomuceno / Juvenal Galeno)
11 – Deus Vos Salve Esta Terra Santa (Caetano Veloso / Torquato Neto)
12 – Tema de ”Os Inconfidentes” (Chico Buarque / Cecília Meireles)
13 – Festa (Dori Caymmi / Nelson Motta) Bonus Track
14 – Linha 12 (Juarez de Souza / Antonio E. Motta) with Jorge Neri
