Hello, good evening! It happens every year and it is impossible to ignore. Natal, Christmas, Navidad, Noel, Kurisumasu, Natale, no matter how you say in your part of the world, it is coming closer. I have a problem with Christmas albums and their very predictable songs, but once in a while you find something really unique, such like last Christmas when we made really nice albums. I’m not sure if we can keep last year’s pace, but I want to start great with this one, sent for last Christmas by a friend that I cannot remember right now. Let’s see.

This is Os Velhinhos Transviados – O Natal dos Velhinhos Transviados (1966), for RCA Victor, a compacto duplo (EP), featuring four Christmas tracks and this really nice cover that worth the admission price. It is Christmas, so I’m making it with no Rapidshare. Tracks include:

01 – Jingle Bells (D. P.)
02 – White Christmas (Irving Berlin)
03 – Boas Festas (Assis Valente)
04 – Noite Silenciosa (Franz Gruber)

Jamil is a really good friend, he understood I was busy and in the same second sent to us this album. Jamil was not alone; he had the help of Chubb, which is someone that I don’t know. Jamil made the music and Chubb the cover scans. Jamil is a big fan of Os Velhinhos Transviados, he says that every fan likes to see their favorite artists at Loronix. Thanks Jamil and thanks Chubb.

This is Os Velhinhos Transviados – Embalados (1965), for RCA Victor. This band was very popular in the 60’s, with many recording released throughout the decade. In spite of their popularity, Os Velinhos Transviados albums are not easy to find. Embalados has the same successful formula of previous releases, funny cover artwork and instrumental music with a touch of comedy. Personnel is not listed, except Ze Menezes, guitarist and Os Velhinhos Transviados leader. Tracks include:

01 – Na Onda do Berimbau (Oswaldo Nunes)
02 – What’d I Say (Ray Charles)
03 – Você (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
04 – Road Hog (O Calhambeque) (Gwen / J. D. Loudermilk)
05 – Do Que Eu Gosto Mais (Rolando Boldrin)
06 – O Que Queres Tu de Mim (Evaldo Gouveia / Jair Amorim) From Russia With Love (L. Bart) Obsesion (Pedro Flores)
07 – Deixa Isso Pra Lá (Alberto Paz / Édson Menezes)
08 – My Boy Lollipop (M. Levy / J. Roberts)
09 – Meglio Stasera (It Had Better Be Tonight) (Henry Mancini)
10 – O Que Eu Gosto de Você (Silvio César)
11 – Remember Me (S. Coburn)
12 – Velhinhos da Colombo (João Roberto Kelly)

Hello, Good Evening! I’m really proud of our community and Loronixers today. I received by mail a donation of almost fifth LPs for Loronix. Some of them are already available and will be used for updates as needed during this second year. In the other hand, others are really missing pieces on our collection and today we will have three picks taken from this amazing donation to our community. Let’s start with the first, one of the favorite of Loronixers.

This is Os Velhinhos Transviados – Barbaros… (1964), for RCA Victor. Above the average album delivered by Jose Meneses, which is Os Velhinhos Transviados founder and leader. The cover artwork is perhaps the best one I have seen from this group that always makes nice covers based on comic situations. The contribution came from someone that asked to not be identified, not associated with any nickname and not mentioned on her albums posts, except today, the first day. Anyway, the important is that we have nice music ahead, stay tuned. Tracks include:

01 – Mas Que Nada (Jorge Ben “Jorge Benjor”)
02 – Hully Gully Baby (K. Mann / D. Appell)
03 – Louco (Ela É o Seu Mundo) (Wilson Batista / Henrique de Almeida)
04 – Abbronzattissima (Rossi / Vianello)
05 – Rio (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
06 – Ti Guardero Nel Cuore (M. Ciorciolini / N. Oliviero / R. Ortolani) Maria Elena (L. Barcelata) Sukiyaki (R. Ei / H. Nakamura)
07 – Sa-sa-ruê (Marino Pinto / Pernambuco)
08 – The Hully Gully (Smith / Goldsmith)
09 – Zé de Conceição (João Roberto Kelly)
10 – Vola Colomba (Concina / C. A. Bixio / Cherubini)
11 – Tome Polca (Bailarico das Novais) (José Maria de Abreu / Luis Peixoto)
12 – Naked City Theme (B. May)

Today we will have only Loronixers to Loronixers posts. I will explain better, the posts are originated by a Loronixer request and the music provided by a Loronixer contribution, at least if I do not change my mind in the middle or any unique LP comes handy.

The Cbox shout application is amazing to gather feedback and communicate faster with zecalouro. Let’s start with a request from Neto and a contribution from Jamil, Os Velhinhos Transviados – Tropicalissimos (1968), the instrumental band lead by Jose Menezes that released several records in the 60’s, a very fun band that releases very nice covers on each LP, such as this one. Tracks include:

01 – Soy Loco Por Ti América (Gilberto Gil / Capinan) — El Manisero (M. Simon)
02 – De Babado (Noel Rosa / João Mina) — Boogie Woogie na Favela (Denis Brean) — Nega do Cabelo Duro (Rubens Soares / David Nasser)
03 – Anjo Azul (Nonato Buzar) — Quando (Roberto Carlos)
04 – The Ballad Of Bonnie And Clyde (M. Murray / P. Callander)
05 – Triste Madrugada (Jorge Costa) — Cai Cai (Roberto Martins)
06 – Um Coração (Jorge Smera / Paulo Gesta)
07 – Malaysha (Makeba / Ragovoy) — Suck Em Up (K. Lee) — Pata Pata (Makeba / Ragovoy)
08 – Esta Tarde Vi Llover (Armando Manzanero) — L’amour Est Bleu (Love Is Blue) (André Popp / P. Cour)
09 – Amor de Carnaval (Zé Keti) — Voltei (Oswaldo Nunes / Celso Castro)
10 – Bonnie And Clyde (Adams / Strouse)
11 – San Francisco (J. Philips)
12 – Está Chegando a Hora (Rubens Campos / Henricão)

Os Velhinhos Transviados – Na Brasa Viva (1966)

This is a special post for a Loronix friend. Os Velhinhos Transviados, something really unique from the 60’s.

Os Velhinhos Transviados is a lead by Ze Menezes, a renowned Brazilian guitarist, being active – believe it or not – from the 30’s until today.

Since the 70’s, Ze Menezes was hired by Rede Globo, Brazilian Broadcast TV, to be the main guitarist, being the composer of well-known themes for TV shows, such as Os Trapalhoes.

In the 60’s Ze Meneses decided to create this madness called Os Velhinhos Transviados, which is an amazing mix of Samba, Jazz, Rock, Beatles, Stones, Orchestra and everything you should here on this LP, a cool eletric Samba Jazz bossa from 1962. Very cult piece.
