Hello, good evening! I’m an avid reader of everything posted by the huge community of Brazilian music enthusiasts I know at the internet, which includes, several discussion lists, forums and many personal blogs, such like Loronix. Tropicalia is a frequent subject, especially when discussed by people outside Brazil. Tropicalia was a very important movement, but left no more than 50 albums (according with some reviewers, no more than 20).

This is the reason why I would like to say THANK YOU to AdHoc. He just sent us a Tropicalia album recorded by one of the most important artists of the movement and a very rare record, known by only a few friends. Let’s see.

This is Rogerio Duprat – The Brazilian Suite (1970), for KPM Music Library, with Maestro Rogerio Duprat delivering Tropicalia arrangements with lots of electric guitars, percussion and orchestra. KPM Music Library was a British label that went famous by its “1000 Series”. KPM was later bought by EMI and many of the LPS from the 1000 Series have been reissued on CD, which is not the case of Rogerio Duprat – The Brazilian Suite, unpublished since this first issue, kindly presented by AdHoc to Loronix community. Thanks once again, AdHoc. Tracks include Rogerio Duprat arrangements and compositions.

Hello, Good Night! I had a nice time yesterday at the phone with the mighty Claudia B from Cantos e Encantos about this cover. We were trying to realize together what they meant by putting the “formal” Carlos Gomes head at the left and the girl dressed like a waiter with no paints at the right. Actually, we had a lot of fun with this cover.

Thanks Claudia B for making this LP available from your great collection, I hope you don’t get made with the green parrot, since I’m posting it without saying to you. Abracadabra-BR has also published this LP a couple of days ago. I could not resist. This is Rogerio Duprat – Os Imortais, Os Mestres de Sempre na “Bossa” de Hoje (N/A), for the obscure VS/Vilela Santos, a very early Duprat recording, probably his first solo LP.

Os Imortais is an orchestra LP, conducted and arranged by Rogerio Duprat, classical performances with the Bossa Nova accent. Great curiosity. Thanks Claudia B. Tracks include:

01 – O Guarani (Carlos Gomes)
02 – Valsa Op 61 Nº 1 Em Lá Bemol (Frederic Chopin)
03 – Andantino da Quarta Sinfonia (Tchaikovsky)
04 – Tema de Concêrto Para Piano Op 54 (Schuman)
05 – Noturno Op 9 Nº 2 Em Mi Bemol (Frederic Chopin)
06 – Prelúdio e Brinde da Traviata (Verdi)
07 – Dança Macabra (Saens)
08 – Tema do 1º Movimento da Sinfonia Quarta (Brahms) — Tema do 1º Movimento da Sinfonia Quinta (Ludwig Van Beethoven)
09 – O Cisne (Saens)
10 – Andante Cantabile da Quinta Sinfonia (Tchaikovsky)

Yesterday, the word lost the legendary Maestro Rogerio Duprat, producer for Caetano Veloso, Jorge Ben, Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, Os Mutantes, among many others. Rogerio Duprat was a key figure in the Tropicalia movement that revolutionized Brazilian music in the 60’s. In later years, he lived a reclusive life on a farm in Sao Paulo state.

This is Loronix tribute to Maestro Rogerio Duprat, LP Lindolfo Gaya e Rogerio Duprat – Os Maestros Premiados (1968), with Lindolfo Gaya e Sua Orquestra on tracks 01 to 06 and Rogerio Duprat e Sua Orquestra on tracks 07 to 12.
