The last challenge game featuring Baden Powell and Rosana Toledo performing together was really interest. I was curious to understand why they were performing together, since I never heard about a connection between Baden and Rosana Toledo. The answer came yesterday with an interview made by Café Brasil with Rosana Toledo in June 2006, which I invite you to read at this link.

Rosana Toledo says that Baden Powell performs in some of her albums, and this one is probably included. They were friends in the very first beginning of Baden Powell career, which now explains that amazing photo. Rosana lives today at Retiro dos Artistas, a very important initiative in Rio de Janeiro, providing housing and support to artists with special needs. This is the repost of the Rosana Toledo second LP and her first album made available at Loronix in November 2006. Let’s see.

This is Rosana Toledo – …e a Vida Continua (1962), for RGE, featuring arrangements by Maestro Nelsinho, in front of the legendary Orquestra RGE. Sister of Luiz Bonfa’s wife, Maria Helena Toledo, Rosana ended her career prematurely, after recording only five albums and a 78rpm. Her albums never had a chance of being reissued in CD and Loronix has some to offer, including her last album, a nice contribution made by Caetano Rodrigues, here. …e a Vida Continua repertoire is based on Sambas by Noel Rosa, Jair Amorim, Vadico among others. Tracks include:

01 – E a Vida Continua (Jair Amorim / Evaldo Gouveia)
02 – Porque Fui Te Encontrar (Nelsinho / Orlando Henriques)
03 – Que Deus Me Dê (Jair Amorim / Evaldo Gouveia)
04 – Palmatória do Mundo (Toso Gomes / Umberto Silva)
05 – Não Me Diga Adeus (Paquito / Luis Soberano / João Correia da Silva)
06 – Dá-me Tuas Mãos (Erasmo Silva / Jorge Castro)
07 – Salve Ogum (Pernambuco / Mário Rossi)
08 – Molambo (Jaime Florence “Meira” / Augusto Mesquita)
09 – Canção Completamente Inútil (Jair Amorim / Evaldo Gouveia)
10 – Feitio de Oração (Noel Rosa / Vadico)
11 – Pra Que Mentir (Noel Rosa / Vadico)
12 – Desolação (Fredy Chateaubriand / Vinicius de Carvalho)

Hello! Good Night! Today, the green bird has flown to Sao Paulo to visit Caetano Rodrigues and old vinyl fair. Great time with Caetano and great music available at the fair with fair prices (sorry, I could not resist). Stay tuned, as never at Loronix, many wonderful new releases will come daily.

As we are releasing one single post today, it is necessary to be an amazing post, not the outcome of the fair visit, but another nice contribution of Caetano Rodrigues that we are starting to get used and addicted to it.

This is Rosana Toledo – Momento Novo (1964), for Philips, the last Rosana Toledo LP, considered one of her best albums. Maestro Lindolfo Gaya that also leads Orquestra Gaia in all tracks arranges Momento Novo. This is a solid LP from the start to the end with this truly amazing cover. I’m wondering if these little babies have some kind of connection with the LP title, Momento Novo. Tracks include:

01 – Hoje É Dia de Amor (Luis Bonfá / Maria Helena Toledo)
02 – Inútil Paisagem (Tom Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira)
03 – Recomeço (Durval Ferreira / Luis Fernando Freire)
04 – Quanto Custa Amar (Normando / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
05 – A Tarde Sorriu Pra Mim (Osmar Navarro / Alcina Maria)
06 – Adriana (Roberto Menescal / Luis Fernando Freire)
07 – Momento Novo (Luis Bonfá / Maria Helena Toledo)
08 – Ama (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
09 – Pequeno Olhar (Luis Bonfá / Maria Helena Toledo)
10 – Mar à Mar (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
11 – Encanto Triste (Durval Ferreira / Pedro Camargo)
12 – Só Tinha de Ser Com Você (Tom Jobim / Aloysio de Oliveira)

People, have a seat to another fantastic LP by the great Caetano Rodrigues. We have been preparing this post for more than a couple of days and Caetano – with some zecalouro influence – has decided that today is the right day. First, let’s take a special attention to the story behind this post.

Picture yourself in Rio de Janeiro, 1964, the Golden Bossa Nova years. Tamba Trio has just released his third LP for Philips, Tempo. CBD executives, together with Mrs. Stella Marinho from O Globo newspaper, decided to make a partnership to work together on a charity initiative called “Ajude uma Crianca a Estudar”, to collect funds and help child education.

The initiative was launched with a cocktail at Leme Palace Hotel, followed by a concert at Jornal O Globo, “E Tempo de Musica Moderna”, directed by Armando Pittigliani. Philips selected the best available at the cast to perform the show: Copa Trio, Luiz Henrique, Os Cariocas, Rosana Toledo, Jorge Ben and Tamba Trio.

This is E Tempo de Musica Popular Moderna – Varios Artistas (1964), for Philips, with an interesting fact, this is probably the only recording featuring the legendary Copa Trio, with Dom Salvador (piano), Edison Machado (drums) and Sergio Barroso (bass). Copa Trio starts the gig and backs up the remaining artists on the set, Luiz Henrique, Os Cariocas, Rosana Toledo and Jorge Ben. Tamba Trio closes the party with four tunes.

At the end of the concert, people could buy Tamba Trio – Tempo to help children. What amazing day. Who was there? If any friend had the chance to attend this historical concert, please tell us how it was. The track list has 12 songs, I decided to create single tracks for each artist just to be convenient and do not break each one performances. Mario Luiz from Radio Globo, makes nice introductions hosting the show. Tracks include.
