Saraiva - Sucesso em Alta Tensao (1963)

Hello, good evening! Loronix (myself) and everybody who that use Velox SP were unable to reach domain. This is the reason why we did not have new music yesterday. The problem lasts 24 hours and it is very nice to make new music available at Loronix after such hiatus. The friends who use CBox, the popular Quadradinho, were of a great help on giving continuous status reports and this post is dedicated to CBox friends, featuring a requested artist on that little nice space. Let’s see.

This is Saraiva – Sucesso em Alta Tensao (1968), for Copacabana, presented here with a later Copacabana subsidiary label SOM reissue. Saraiva delivers a blend of Samba, Choro and all sorts of style on several groovy tracks with lots of clarinet playing, accordion and even a Hammond B3 organ. Sucesso em Alta Tensao took me by surprise, it is the kind of album that saves your day in the morning. I think after this album, Saraiva will get new fans, enthusiastic fans like our great friend kinoterra. Tracks include:

01 – Saraivando Pelo Brasil (Luis dos Santos / Walter Sperandeo)
02 – Sem Você (Clóvis de Lima / Ubirajara)
03 – Sobre o Céu da Bahia (Luis dos Santos / J. Luna)
04 – Ana Sempre Te Amei (Luis dos Santos / J. Luna)
05 – Tabú Corintiano (Luis dos Santos / Neilor de Oliveira)
06 – Náutico Capibaribi (Luis dos Santos / Santos Jr.)
07 – Mágoas de Acordeomista (Luis dos Santos / R. Caruso)
08 – Coração de Mulher (Luis dos Santos / Gentil da Silva)
09 – Miranda no Choro (Ivan Pires / Miranda)
10 – Caserna Em Festa (Luis dos Santos / Norberto de Freitas)
11 – Sofro Por Causa Dela (Luis dos Santos / G. da Costa)
12 – Saudade dos Meus Conterrâneos (Luis dos Santos / Apolonio R. Pinheiro)

Esse disco pode ser buscado no Moura MP3.

We have been with great Brazilian sax players since Loronix beginning, such like Paulo Moura, Moacyr Silva, Zito Righi, Juarez Araujo and many others. However, some others musicians that dedicated his life to this instrument or this family of instrument did not reach our website already. This post comes to show one of these artists that never had a career album made available to our community, although active on recordings or studio sessions. I think that Saraiva is a great start to this series, I could not find much info about him, but he recorded several albums, being this one his first. Let’s see.

This is Saraiva – Sobre o Ritmo das Ondas (1964), for Continental, presented here by a mid-70’s Phonodisk reissue. Saraiva does not keep his playing connected with a given style, delivering Sambas, Boleros and mostly Choros. You will not find Bossa Nova standard tunes at Sobre o Ritmo das Ondas, all tracks are composed by Luiz dos Santos, which is probably the own Saraiva. I think Loronixers will receive Saraiva with enthusiasm; this is a very nice record, released in the Bossa Nova age with a repertoire of Choros, a genre that almost disappeared during the 60’s. Tracks include:

01 – Bodas de Ouro (Luis dos Santos / Alfredo Celso)
02 – Corintiano (Luis dos Santos / Palmeira)
03 – Célio no Baião (Luis dos Santos / Nairson Menezes)
04 – Não Me Toque Assim (Luis dos Santos / Leonel Cruz)
05 – Mulher Fingida (Luis dos Santos / Palmeira)
06 – Galera do Nelson (Luis dos Santos / Teixeira Filho)
07 – Relembrando o Passado (Luis dos Santos / Ivanildo José da Silva)
08 – Selma (Luis dos Santos / Nelson Machado)
09 – É Disso Que Eu Gosto (Luis dos Santos / Milton José)
10 – A Natureza (Luis dos Santos / J. Luna)
11 – Morada Perdida (Luis dos Santos / Waldemar Pimentel)
12 – Foi de Lá Que Eu Vim (Luis dos Santos / Victor Settanni)
