I was talking a couple of days ago with our new Loronix friend, The Jazzman. He said to zecalouro: “Jobim was my absolute favorite musician. Second is Tito Puente.” This statement sounds really weird for people in Brazil. Tito Puente is not popular down here and I was amazed how The Jazzman could have two different artists on top of his favorite shortlist.Tito Puente is a great artist, however, in Brazil, I don’t know exactly the reason, maybe cultural, and people use to ignore everything tagged as “Latin”. Anyway, let’s play Tito Puente for the first time at Loronix with Tito Puente and His Orchestra – Bossa Nova by Puente (1962), Palladium, with Puente making move towards Bossa Nova. I don’t know if others Tito Puente LPs are such like this one, Puente arrangements are really different and the orchestra is very good. Thanks Jazzman for this contribution to Loronixers. Tracks include:

– Come to See the Mardi Gras
– Desafinado
– Little Brow Boy
– Recado
– Payaso
– O Pato
– Loco Bossa Nova
– One Note Samba
– Teleco Teco #2
– Brazilandia
– Bossa Nova a la Puente
– Meditacao

This is Tito Puente and His Orchestra – Bossa Nova by Puente (1962), at Loronix.
