Gemini V Mexico

Hello, good evening! The technology I have been putting in place to support Loronix is invisible. Loronix runs at Google Inc. Blogger technology, which is identified by the blogspot.com domain. However, several features runs out of blogger, such like Loronix Find It, a MySQL / PHP database hosted at zecalouro.com domain, videos, CBox and now Loronix Preview Center. These services make Loronix a little bit different from the other websites, and we cannot live without. We are facing outages on these external services this weekend and I have been working hard with my hosting provider to fix it.

I don’t have idea on how big is this outage. I think it is only affecting Brazilian or South American pipes to US. If you reach Loronix from other regions or continents, please, let me know if you are facing these problems, so I can report better and have this situation fixed sooner. Thanks for your attention.

This is Os Bossa Tres, Leny Andrade & Pery Ribeiro – Gemini V en Mexico | Grabado ao Vivo! (1967), for Odeon, courtesy of Caetano Rodrigues and supposed to be released on our 2 million hits celebration, but postponed. It is really a mandatory repost Caetano provides us, with upgrades on vinyl transfer and the increasing popular FLAC format. Gemini 5 en Mexico was recorded live and it is a very hard to find album, never released in CD. Luiz Carlos Vinhas from Os Bossa Tres is in charge of arrangements, being also producer. Tracks include:

Bossa 3 – Os Reis do Ritmo (1966)

I told you on Bob Fleming post that tcisalpino was uploading another contribution, however, I did not realize he was making this one. I’m surprised. This album was made available in the very first beginning of Loronix and such as Bossa Joe, I never understood why nobody left comments on it. Perhaps it was the low quality ripping offered at that time, but this is not a issue now, tcisalpino delivered FLAC files taken from a remastered CD reissue and once again offers this music to Loronix community.

This is Bossa 3 – Os Reis do Ritmo (1966), for Odeon, featuring the second Os Bossa Três line-up with Luiz Carlos Vinhas, the Loronix friend Ronie Mesquita and Octavio Baily. Another self-explanatory release. I’m not making large cover scans of back cover this time, if someone has the first vinyl issue and wants to contribute with these scans, our community really appreciates. Additionally, I’m reposting a video sent by Luiz Harding featuring Os Bossa Tres at Praia do Arpoador in Rio de Janeiro, just in case someone miss it.

Tracks include:

Personnel

Luiz Carlos Vinhas
(piano)
Octavio Baily
(bass)
Ronie Mesquita
(drums)

Track List

01 – Onde Anda o Meu Amor (Orlann Divo / Roberto Jorge)
02 – Até o Sol Raiar (Baden Powell / Vinícius De Moraes)
03 – Não me Diga Adeus (Paquito / Luiz Soberano / João Corrêa Da Silva)
04 – Coisa Mais Linda (Carlos Lyra / Vinícus De Moraes)
05 – É (Luiz Carlos Vinhas / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
06 – Samba de Verão (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sérgio Valle)

Here comes Luiz Harding torturing us again with a video, torturing is the right word, once you see one you can stop waiting for the next. This one was supposed to be released on May, 12th, on Loronix anniversary, but is so cool that I could not wait. Caetano told me about this video and I had no hope to watch it. Now with Luiz, we can make it.

This is Os Bossa Tres performing on Arpoador Beach, Rio de Janeiro City. I hope Loronixers make the hard work this time, providing additional info. It is strongly recommended that you use the increase lens to see the original size.

Hope uEnjoy!

It happened again, I was looking at the old posts for a nice record of the legendary Bossa Tres trio to make a repost to new Loronixers. The great surprise is that I could not find their debut LP and this is a wonderful surprise, instead of a repost, we have a brand new LP, never shown to Loronixers before.

This is Os Bossa Tres – Os Bossa Tres (1963), for Audio Fidelity, their debut LP, featuring what is considered their best formation with Luiz Carlos Vinhas (piano), Tiao Neto (bass) and Edison Machado (drums). Bossa Tres was formed in 1961 and is known as the first instrumental Bossa Nova trio. Every day we learn something new at Loronix, I just read that Bossa Tres performed with Lennie Dale in the Ed Sulivan Show, years before Beatles presentation at the same show when they conquered the US. Tracks include:

01 – Blues Walk (C. Brown)
02 – Céu e Mar (Johnny Alf)
03 – Green Dolphin Street (Washington / Kaper)
04 – Menina Feia (Oscar Castro Neves)
05 – Sol e Chuva (D. Payne)
06 – Olhou Pra Mim (Ed Lincoln)
07 – Tema Bossa Três (Tião Neto)
08 – Não Faz Assim (Oscar Castro Neves)
09 – Somebody Loves Me (George Gershwin)
10 – Só Saudade (Tom Jobim)
11 – Influência do Jazz (Carlos Lyra)
12 – Zelão (Sergio Ricardo)

.

Há um engano no que diz o Zeca. Este disco do Bossa Três já havia sido publicado anteriormente no Loronix e, consequentemente, aqui nos Órfãos do Loronix. A única questão é que ele foi publicado com outra capa, que segue abaixo.

This is the first out of several LPs that Caetano Rodrigues kindly sent to zecalouro today to release at Loronix. I spent myself today like a little kid locked at a chocolate factory, completely lost among several choices. Tomorrow, I will post on Loronix Forum a picture with the overall collection together. Since we are going through a series of posts, there is a new post icon to identify Caetano’s contributions. I never get tired to thanks Caetano about his willing and sharing spirit.

Starting the first out of many, Caetano’s pick for today is Bossa Tres – Os Bossa Tres e Seus Amigos (1965), for Audio Fidelity, the last recording of Bossa Tres with it’s original line-up, which is Luiz Carlos Vinhas (piano), Edison Machado (drums) and Tiao Neto (bass). Bossa Tres has special guests to this session (amigos), they are Sonny Simmons (sax alto), Clifford Jordan (sax tenor and flauta) and Prince Lasha (flute).

I have never heard this LP and my first feeling is that we will have a lot to talk about it. Tracks include:

01 – Bottles (Luis Carlos Vinhas / Édison Machado / Tião Neto)
02 – Blue Monk (Thelonious Monk)
03 – Love For Sale (Cole Porter)
04 – Cuttie (Sonny Rollins)
05 – Moanin’ (Timmons)
06 – Well You Needn’t (Thelonious Monk)
07 – Dahoud (Luis Carlos Vinhas / Édison Machado / Tião Neto)
08 – Epistle To Train (P. Lasha / S. Simmons)
09 – Days Of Wine And Roses (Henry Mancini / J. Mercer)
10 – Whisper Not (Golson)
11 – Yesterdays (J. Kern / O. Harbach)
12 – Minortory (G. Gryce)

Gemini V show lasts for more than one year on this Porao 73 nightclub and was produced by Miele and Ronaldo Boscoli with music direction by Luiz Carlos Vinhas. Publicado em: Friday, November 10, 2006 by zecalouro

I have been receiving e-mails from Loronix friends such like Mr. D&C and Cesar Saldanha asking for this release. It was really my fault to postpone the best out of the three LPs released by Lennie Dale for Elenco. I understand those prayers since this is really the best, pretty better in comparison with the previous ones.

This is Lennie Dale – Um Show de Bossa (1964) with Bossa Tres, the renowned Bossa Jazz combo lead by the pianist Luiz Carlos Vinhas. The production is from Aloysio de Oliveira and Bossa Tres setup for this LP is Luiz Carlos Vinhas (piano), Edison Machado (drums) and Tiao Neto (bass). This is the first out of the 3 Lennie Dale releases for Elenco, as I said, the best one.

My special thanks to Cesar Saldanha by the cover artwork and the files, thanks also the Loronixer Renato, which is a Loronix Forum user and also called my attention to this LP while using Loronix Live Chat, the Chat application inside the Forum, you should not miss Loronix Forum, here. Tracks include:

01 – Tamanco no Samba (Orlann Divo / Hélton Menezes)

02 – Corcovado (Tom Jobim)

03 – Lover (Rodgers / Hart) — Bim Bom (João Gilberto) — Dance Bossa Nova (Roberto Menescal / Aloysio de Oliveira) — Dance Passarinho (Chico Feitosa) — Loose Walk (Stitt / Richards) — Não Ponha a Mão (Bucy Moreira / Arnô Canegal / Mutt)

04 – Two Ladies In de Shade Of de Banana Tree (Harold Arlen / T. Capote)

Bossa Tres – Em Forma! (1965)

Publicado em: Monday, October 23, 2006 by zecalouro

This is a repost to address several Loronixers requests. I did not know how popular was this LP, unavailable due the last RapidShare moves and changes. Do not be afraid about these moves and changes. They can affect only the very early posts, less than 5% of Loronix.

Bossa Tres was the first instrumental group of Bossa Nova age, assembled in 1961 by Luiz Carlos Vinhas (piano), Tiao Neto (bass) and Edison Machado. This LP is Bossa Tres – Em Forma! (1965), with Luiz Carlos Vinhas, Otavio Baily (bass) and Ronald (drums).

Em Forma! was released by Forma label. I don’t know if the LP title means that Bossa Tres is Em Forma (the label name) or Em Forma (in a good shape in English). Looking at this fantastic cover, I think they meant the record label. Tracks include:

01 – Bottle’s (Orlando Costa ”Maestro Cipó”)
02 – Juca Bobão (Del Loro)
03 – Valsa (João Donato)
04 – Búzios (Luis Carlos Vinhas)
05 – O Morro Não Tem Vez (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
06 – Bico de Luz (Luis Carlos Vinhas)
07 – Vivo Sonhando (Tom Jobim)
08 – Sambete Nº 4 (Ed Lincoln / Waltel Branco)
09 – Como Eu Quis Você (Luis Carlos Vinhas / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
10 – Imprevisto (Luis Carlos Vinhas)

.

Não tinha este disco. Porém, graças ao Milan Filipovic, ele agora está disponível no Parallel Realities.

Pery Ribeiro + Bossa 3 – Encontro (1966)

Pery Ribeiro is another missing point at Loronix. Pery was the first artist to record Garota de Ipanema. Son of Herivelto Martins and Dalva de Olieira. Pery formed with Leny Andrade and Bossa Tres the group Gemini V, joined Bossa Rio with Sérgio Mendes, Gracinha Leporace, Osmar Milito, Manfredo Fest, Otávio Bailly, and Ronnie Mesquita and had an active international career.

zecalouro starts Pery Ribeiro at Loronix showing a LP considered an essential to any serious Bossa Nova collector, Pery Ribeiro + Bossa 3 – Encontro (1966).

Perhaps most of you have already this LP from other Blogs, since it is very common and easy to find. It does not matter, this record is so good that zecalouro could not resist to bring it to Loronix. Meet Bossa Three with the LP Bossa Nova – Brazilian Jazz.

zecalouro gets lazy on Sunday afternoon, so he will copy the linear notes for info:

“One of the finest, most exciting of the new Samba Jazz groups to come to the US from Brazil since the Bossa Wave broke on our shores is the Bossa Three: Luis Parga (piano) Edison Machado (drums) and Tiao Neto (bass)”.

In the other hand, zecalouro prepared an image showing the landscape of this amazing cover changing along time. This is Sugarloaf, Rio de Janeiro.

.

A lost an forgotten treasure of Bossa Nova. This Bossa Tres was recorded during their stay in New York in 1963, with the participation of Jo Basile. Basile plays the accordeon on an unique manner just to match and correctly the groovy Bossa provided by Luiz Carlos Vinhas and his crew.
