Irany Pinto - Sambas Em Surdina

Hello, good evening! I cannot remember a busy and great week such as this one at Loronix. We had many events and a LOT of work. We had an important milestone reaching 3 million page views. Our funding campaign was also an extraordinary event. Loronix community could gather a considerable amount of money to purchase a dedicated server. I thought that it would take 20 days to accomplish our target and in only 2 days our goal was reached.

Your response brings a great responsibility, and I decided to give a immediate response, putting the server in action in only two days. Actually, there were four days of intensive work, two days setting up the entire server and two days preparing our new website, Loronix Happy Hour, so far a great success, with over 150 subscriptions from several countries.

The greatest Happy Hour functionality is the availability of the last Loronix day with no Rapidshare, making things much easier for those who follow Loronix on a daily basis.

Well, I spoke a lot, but I did not say how much I am satisfied with Loronix and the community that was created around the website. Thank you.

This is Irany Pinto e Seu Conjunto – Sambas em Surdina (1959), for Odeon, featuring the Brazilian violinist Irany Pinto, a true legend, such as Fafa Lemos. Irany Pinto was active on recordings, releasing more than 20 LPs between the late 50’s until the 70’s. Musicians in this session were not credited by Odeon. Remember that Sambas em Surdina will be available with no Rapidshare at Loronix Happy Hour until tomorrow. Tracks include:

01 – Feitico da Vila (Noel Rosa / Vadico)
02 – Caminhemos (Herivelto Martins)
03 – No Rancho Fundo (Lamartine Babo / Ary Barroso)
04 – Eu Nao Existo Sem Voce (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
05 – Copacabana (Joao de Barro / Alberto Ribeiro)
06 – Minha Prece (Haroldo Eiras / Ciro V. Cunha)
07 – Castigo (Dolores Duran)
08 – Molambo (Jaime Florence “Meira” / Augusto Mesquita)
09 – Ouca (Maysa)

Irany Pinto, José Menezes, Moacyr Silva & Sivuca - 4 Azes Em HI-FI

Hello, good evening! I have been away from Loronix in the past two days, but at the same time, I have never been so close to Loronix, acting behind the scenes and accelerating the work of reactivation of broken links. I have good news. Everything is working until October 15 2006 and from a grand total of 100 weeks, 79 are completed fixed up. I estimate additional 7 or 10 days to fix all weeks, and then Loronix should go back to business as usual. I think it is important to keep everybody informed about our progress. Don’t miss the Restoration Status Panel, always close to the first post.

Don’t miss also this truly amazing release, another album sent by Jorge Mello to our community. Let’s see.

This is Irany Pinto, Jose Menezes, Moacyr Silva, & Sivuca – 4 Azes em HI-FI (1958), for Copacabana. I think this cover and the musicians in this session make leads my writing to something not necessary, but I would like to say this album is not a compilation, they perform together across the whole session, with highlights to each one at specific tracks. Tracks include:

Irany Pinto - Irany Toca Blues Em Surdina

Hello, good evening! Here we go on another album discovered in the last raining days in Rio de Janeiro. I have to admit this one was excluded for lack of attention. Irany Pinto was renowned violinist with a recording career that spans decades, including a sequel recorded for Odeon with 12 albums titled Boleros em Surdina, being the first released in 1957 and the last in 1969 as Boleros em Surdina Nr. 12, which is also the last Irany Pinto Career LP. Let’s see.

This is Irany Pinto – Irany Toca Blues em Surdina (1960), for Odeon, perhaps a variation of the Boleros sequel with Irany Pinto performing a repertoire based on American standards by Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and others. Irany Toca Blues em Surdina features arrangements by Maestro Oswaldo Borba conduced by Maestro Orlando Silveira with everything under direction of the renowned Aloysio de Oliveira. Unfortunately, Odeon did not credit musicians in this session. Tracks include:

01 – Smoke Gets In Your Eyes (Kern / Harbach)
02 – Love Is a Many Splendored Thing (S. Fain / Paul Francis Webster)
03 – A Pretty Girl Is Like a Melody (Irving Berlin)
04 – Solitude (Duke Ellington / Ellis)
05 – Blue Moon (R. Rodgers / L. Hart)
06 – Blue Skies (Irving Berlin)
07 – The Man I Love (George Gershwin / Ira Gershwin)
08 – Body And Soul (Heyman / Sour / Green)
09 – Stella By Starlight (V. Young / N. Washington)
10 – Stardust (H. Carmichael / Parish)
11 – Stormy Neather (Harold Arlen / T. Koehler)
12 – My Melancholy Baby (N. Burnett / M. Belle / Watson)

I was reluctant to show this album, I found it on a really bad condition, the cover was damaged and I had to praise the help of a friend to make it look better and the vinyl was scratch on a way that I had to decide keeping some hiss at the beginning of tracks in the benefit of loosing the sound quality. However, I think I’m making the right decision on sharing as it is. Irany Pinto is a brand new artist for me and probably for many friends and this cover artwork is one of those that worth the album alone.

This is Irany Pinto e Seu Conjunto – Meus Amores (1958), for Copacabana. Irany Pinto is a Brazilian violinist that had a great importance from the late 40’s until the early 70’s. He was member of the legendary Turma do Sereno, a group created by Paulo Tapajos with best of breed Brazilian musicians. Irany Pinto recorded more than 40 albums including 78rpms and LPs. Meus Amores is one of those themed albums made by Copacabana, Irany Pinto performs songs with names of girls and the cover artworks is strongly associated with the idea, showing a guy thinking on several others girls while talking with another. Really cool. tracks include:

01 – Rosalie (Cole Porter)
02 – Louise (L. Robin / R. A. Whiting)
03 – Laura (João de Barro / Alcyr Pires Vermelho)
04 – Maria La Ô (Ernesto Lecuona)
05 – Marie (Irving Berlin)
06 – Conceição (Jair Amorim / Dunga)
07 – Patrícia (Perez Prado)
08 – Maria Boa (Assis Valente) Odete (Herivelto Martins / Dunga)
09 – Vilma (M. Ruccione)
10 – Maria Bonita (Agustin Lara) Hi-lili Hi-lo (Kaper / Deutsch)
11 – Dora (Dorival Caymmi) Marina (Dorival Caymmi)
12 – Rose Marie (R. Friml / O. Harbach / H. Stothart / O. Hammerstein II) Ninon (R. Stolz)
13 – Katuchka (Lina Pesce)
