the POP'S - Na Base do Ie, Ie, Ie (1966)

Hello, good evening! I’m really surprise with the feedback given by other bloggers and website owners to the last Christmas album by The Pop’s – Feliz Natal (1969). Friends like Cool-Mo-Dee, Can’t Get it Out of my Head and FaLaLaLaLa created posts about The Pop’s Christmas album. By the way, FaLaLaLaLa is a great website that has a special mission; to preserve the memories of Christmas vinyl past and every end of year comes with great things. That’s why I’m making The Pop’s debut LP, requested by many Loronixers. Let’s see.

The Pops - Feliz Natal (1969)

Hello, good evening! We are not in December yet, but for zecalouro today is Christmas. My mother had a serious broken harm a couple of weeks ago, very serious; it was that kind of broke where the bone goes outside the body. She went to surgery to put pieces of metal and today she took out those rigid parts to sustain the metal and the doctor said that everything is all right. That’s amazing! Better celebrate this anticipated Christmas with one of Mom’s finding. Let’s see.

This is The Pop’s – Feliz Natal (1969), for Equipe, featuring instrumental rock renditions of Brazilian and international well-known Christmas songs. Very dancing and tiny session with only 26 minutes running time. Do not wait for Christmas time, you will have a lot of fun with Feliz Natal, they make me laugh out loud with the arrangements created for these tunes. Tracks include:

01 – Noite Feliz (Mohr / Franz Gruber / Adpt. Simões)
02 – O Tannenbaum (Tradicional / Adpt. Simões)
03 – Valsa da Despedida (M. Curtis / F. Military)
04 – Sleigh Ride (Parish / Anderson)
05 – O Bom Velhinho (Otávio Babo Filho)
06 – E Nasceu Jesus (Orlann Divo / Roberto Jorge)
07 – Jingle Bells (Tradicional / Adpt. Simões)
08 – Natal das Crianças (Blecaute)
09 – Boas Festas (Assis Valente)
10 – Aleluia (Handel)
11 – Adeste Fidelis (Tradicional / Adpt. Simões)
12 – White Christmas (Irving Berlin)

Hello, Good Evening! Starting another sAmBa sAtUrDaY at Loronix, actually, continuing the sAmBa sAtUrDaY started earlier by Justin with Jorginho do Imperio – Viagem Encantada (1975). There is a healthful competition between Justin and zecalouro to find out which website delivers the most solid Samba LP. zecalouro always loose for Justin, but who wins are Loronixers and Justin Thymers, who gets the most from both websites.

We are starting today mixing instrumental Rock and Samba with this crazy and very groovy album recorded by The Pop’s. Someone shouted for The Pop’s, so here we go.

This is The Pop’s – Agora e Samba (1968), for Equipe. Very nice instrumental Samba album by The Pop’s. This is the kind of music that will make you kick around the apartment. If you are not in the mood for Samba dancing, save it for Carnaval or any other dancing party, you will make everybody dance with this one. Tracks include:

02 – Amor de Carnaval (Zé Keti)
03 – Desespero de Causa (Jorge de Castro / José Utrini)
04 – Despedida de Mangueira (Benedito Lacerda / Aldo Cabral)
05 – Copacabana (João de Barro / Alberto Ribeiro)
06 – Se Você Jurar (Ismael Silva / Nilton Bastos / Francisco Alves)
07 – Não Tenho Lágrimas (Max Bulhões / Milton de Oliveira)
08 – Exaltação à Mangueira (Enéas Brites da Silva / Aloísio Augusto da Costa)

This is the first edition of Loronix Singles Festival, just to save our time and make several singles accessible from a single (sorry!) download package. First edition has 3 artists, as follows:

Oswaldo Nunes & The Pop’s (1968), for Equipe. Great surprise, I never saw an Equipe single before and in spite of a non-specific cover artwork, this one looks modern and truly beautiful. Oswaldo Nunes & The Pop’s delivers something my good friends identify as Samba Rock, something really hard to define with my limited knowledge. Tracks include:

01 – Segura Esse Samba Ogunhe
02 – Eu Chorei

Eva (1969), for Copacabana, brings another nice cover, although is just the opposite from Equipe. Perhaps this cover was even considered antique in 1969, but it is truly beautiful and matches perfect with the label design in the middle. Tracks include:

01 – Cantiga por Luciana
02 – Meu Mundo

Joao Roberto Kelly – Joao Roberto Kelly (1980), for Copacabana, a very recent single taking in consideration the previous ones. We have a different Joao Roberto Kelly this time, performing as a romantic singer and making a wonderful job. Tracks include:

01 – Mistura
02 – A Solidao Chegou

.

Não tinha esses compactos. Porém, graças aos amigos Amilcar e Martoni, eles podem ser buscados na Rádio Forma e Elenco.

Oswaldo Nunes & The Pops – Ta Tudo Ai! (1969)

A friend of Loronix that does not want to be identified sent me this LP as one of the “best Samba Rock” album ever. Everybody knows that zecalouro does not have Samba Rock authority to make a serious evaluation of this friend statement. I will tell you honestly what I think: this is a crazy record that mix several things together such as: samba, baiao, forro and sometimes ROCK on a dancing set. If you are looking for something to make you kick around the house, this is the LP for you. Oswaldo is teamed with another Brazilian band called The Pop at this LP.

Oswaldo Nunes died early, murdered at his apartment in Rio. The reason of his death is still a mystery. If you live in Brazil, you certainly know a song called Oba! performed by Bafo da Onca (carnaval group) that became this group anthem.

Let’s see what Loronixers have to say about this wonderful piece of madness from Oswaldo Nunes, tracks include:

01 – Tá Tudo Aí (Oswaldo Nunes)
02 – Cateretê (Arnoldo Silva / Odair José de Araújo)
03 – Outro Amor de Carnaval (Raul Borges / Oswaldo Nunes / Humberto de Carvalho)
04 – Você Deixa (Oswaldo Nunes)
05 – Guerra Santa (Ciro de Souza / Mário Rossi)
06 – Tamanqueiro (Oswaldo Nunes)
07 – Dendeca (Oswaldo Nunes)
08 – Doce Canção (Oswaldo Nunes)
09 – Cascata (Oswaldo Nunes / A. Marcilac)
10 – Mulher de Malandro (Celso Castro / Oswaldo Nunes)
11 – Chorei Chorei (Oswaldo Nunes)
12 – Canto da Sereia (Oswaldo Nunes)
