Hello, good evening! I believe that everybody is happy with the end of Loronix links reactivation work. At least I am happy and soon we can put the website back in the old pace. I was planning a post describing the work I did in the last month with some really interest facts and numbers, but I am very tired. I will take care of this information in the next weekend, it is important that everybody reads this information to understand what is behind Loronix.

Meanwhile, this tired parrot asks for help. I could not manage an acceptable transfer of this fantastic album that I was desperately looking for since Loronix beginning. By the way, this is Trio Surdina last album recorded by the original formation, which includes Fafa Lemos, Garoto and Chiquinho do Acordeon.

Let’s talk about the help I need. I’m making available two FLAC files full of scratches that you don’t need to download if you want to hear this album. These files were not treated and the first to send me back these FLAC files without the clicks clacks hisses etc. wins a Rapidshare 1-month Premium account. Period. You have 5 days available to make it. Good luck!

This is fantastic music that needs treatment; do not take it please if you are not willing to clean it. All here as SideA and SideB.

Thanks!

.

I have been very busy during the past two months, on a manner that you cannot realize how. This is the reason why Loronix is delivering two daily releases, instead of 3 or even 4 as we made across 2007. Actually, I am enjoying this new configuration; it allows everyone to make a better follow-up of Loronix daily activities.

However, Brazilian music is very rich on styles and this is a problem from my editorial perspective. I need answer for a question, which is, how to distribute all these different styles across the week to address wants and needs of everybody? Anyway, I think the answer to this question will appear very soon, meanwhile, we will visit after a long hiatus the “Para Dancar” style, featuring a legendary group that deserves everybody attention, the legendary Trio Surdina. Let’s see.

This is Trio Surdina com Pierre Kolmann ao Piano – Boleros em HI-FI (1958), for Musidisc, featuring not credited musicians using the name of Trio Surdina, owned by Nilo Sergio, which is the owned of the record label Musidisc. Trio Surdina original formation with Fafa Lemos (violin), Garoto (violao) and Chiquinho do Acordeon (accordion) recorded only a few initial albums. In the other hand, Pierre Kolmann is the nickname of a well-known artist at Loronix, Leal Brito, or Britinho, probably using Pierre Kolmann due contracts obligations with other record company or only as a marketing strategy of Nilo Sergio. Tracks include:

01 – Frenesi (A. Dominguez)
02 – Esperame En El Cielo (F. Lopez)
03 – Soñando Contigo (Anísio Silva / Fausto Guimarães)
04 – Besame Mucho (Consuelo Velasquez)
05 – Hasta Cuando (João Leal Brito ”Britinho”)
06 – Que Murmuren (R. Fuentes / R. Carde)
07 – Mi Oración (Boulanger / Kennedy)
08 – Amor Mio (Álvaro Carrillo)
09 – Angustia (Orlando Brito)
10 – Dos Almas (Don Fabian)
11 – Canción de Amor Cubano (H. Stothard / J. McHugh / D. Fields)
12 – Desesperadamente (Gabriel Ruiz / L. Mendez)

.

Este disco pode ser buscado no Trackfinder Brazil. Fica a dúvida (ver comentários): Pierre Kolmann é um pseudônimo do Leal Brito ou do Waldir Calmon?

I think we are entering on a phase where everybody is excited to know not credited artists behind Bossa Nova albums. Caetano Rodrigues comes to bring another contribution to our community. Caetano comes with a challenge, delivering an album that I could not gather any info about. Let’s see.

This is Os Romanticos – Bossa Nova (no date), for unknown label. I’m not sure if Caetano Rodrigues knows the Brazilian label that issues Os Romanticos, otherwise, this should be the first album released at Loronix with a non-identified label. Anyway, the mystery is not finished; we don’t know who is Os Romanticos, musicians and release date. The album features soft instrumental Bossa Nova renditions performed with percussion, bass, guitar, accordion and violin. Caetano urges Loronixers to get more information about Os Romanticos – Bossa Nova. Tracks include:

01 – Lindos Olhos Azuis
02 – Preciso dar um Jeito
03 – Chega de Sofrer
04 – Depois do Carnaval
05 – Historia
06 – Corcovado
07 – O Amor em Paz
08 – De Mais Amor
09 – Menino Desce Dai
10 – Samba em Preludio
11 – Deixa a Nega Gingar
12 – Que Saudade

.

In that spirit of gradually taking back the control, I think it is perfect to show Loronixers the legendary Trio Surdina debut LP, recorded in 1953, but decades ahead of its time if you take in comparison the music from Brazil in the Bossa Nova years. Take this album as history, such like a document if you want to understand Brazilian music from a broader perspective.

This is Trio Surdina – Trio Surdina (1953), for Musidisc, featuring the “original” Fafa Lemos, Garoto and Chiquinho do Acordeon. I wish I were on a better shape to describe this essential album, but this time you will need to realize it by yourself. A good way to start is taking a close hearing to Duas Contas (Garoto) and O Relogio da Vovo (Fafa Lemos / Garoto / Chiquinho do Acordeon), so you will understand how this album is ahead of everything made in the early 50’s. Tracks include:

Personnel

Fafa Lemos
(violin, voice)
Garoto
(violao)
Chiquinho do Acordeon
(accordion)

Track List

01 – Ternamente (J. Lawrence / W. Gross)
02 – O Relógio da Vovó (Fafá Lemos / Chiquinho do Acordeom / Garoto)
03 – Duas Contas (Garoto)
04 – Felicidade (Garoto / Haroldo Barbosa)
05 – Ninguém Me Ama (Antônio Maria / Fernando Lobo)
06 – Na Madrugada (Nilo Sergio)
07 – Nós Três (Fafá Lemos / Chiquinho do Acordeom / Garoto)
08 – Malagueña (Tradicional)

.

I would like to make something different now by showing two very old and nice 10-inch records released by Musidisc in 1953. The first, everybody known the group and musicians, the legendary Trio Surdina with their original formation, featuring Fafa Lemos, Chiquinho do Acordeon and Garoto on a tribute album to Dorival Caymmi and Noel Rosa. The second has three different main performers fitting on the small 10-inch media, Tres Marias, Leal Brito and Catulo de Paula, which is an artist requested by Loronixers. Let’s see the first with a single download link for both at the end.

This is Trio Surdina – Trio Surdina Interpreta Noel Rosa e Dorival Caymmi (1953), for Musidisc, with the four tracks of side A dedicated to Dorival Caymmi and the others of side B to Noel Rosa. Tracks include:

Personnel

Fafa Lemos
(violin, voice)
Chiquinho do Acordeon
(accordion)
Garoto
(violao)

Track List

01 – Nem Eu (Dorival Caymmi)
02 – O Que É Que a Baiana Tem (Dorival Caymmi)
03 – O Mar (Dorival Caymmi)
04 – Não Tem Solução (Dorival Caymmi / Carlos Guinle)
05 – Fita Amarela (Noel Rosa)
06 – Três Apitos (Noel Rosa)
07 – Conversa de Botequim (Noel Rosa / Vadico)
08 – Com Que Roupa (Noel Rosa)

Our second Musidisc 10-inch feature three artists on a single album, As Tres Marias, a renowned female vocal trio in the 40’s to 50’s, the pianist Leal Brito, accompanied by a sextet and Catulo de Paula, making his debut on recordings.

This is Tres Marias, Leal Brito e Catulo de Paula – Baiao Nr. 2 (1953), for Musidisc. The kind of music you will hear at Baiao Nr. 2 is really disconnected with the “modern” Bossa Nova times we know up to the late 50’s until today. Tracks include:

01 – Onda do Mar (Leal Brito / Paulo Soledade) – TRES MARIAS
02 – Chuveu to Vortando (Catulo de Paula / Carlos Galindo) – CATULO DE PAULA
03 – Celeste no Baiao (Nilo Sergio) – LEAL BRITO
04 – Concerto no Baiao (adapt. Nilo Sergio / Leal Brito) – LEAL BRITO

Sometimes we have things in front of us, close enough we can even touch, but for reasons we can’t explain, we do not give a properly recognition and adequate importance to them. It happens all the time, in life. This is the case with this post. During several months, at a first sight, this was taken only as an old Trio Surdina 10-inch tribute to Ary Barroso. So you start making connections, JimR says that Leo Peracchi is one of the Brazilian Maestros that he likes most and Caetano Rodrigues also said something about it and them this little jewel gets the deserved importance.

This is Trio Surdina & Leo Peracchi e Sua Orquestra – Ary Barroso (1953), for Musidisc, featuring Trio Surdina, as Fafa Lemos (violin), Chiquinho do Acordeom (accordion) and the legendary Garoto (violao) and the might Maestro Leo Peracchi e Sua Orquestra. This amazing cover alone worth the admission price, and the music is great, fresh as it was recorded for the first time a couple of years ago. This is one of those you do not have to explain, just guide. Tracks include:

01 – Rio de Janeiro (Ary Barroso) – Trio Surdina
02 – Inquietação (Ary Barroso) – Trio Surdina
03 – Na Baixa do Sapateiro (Ary Barroso) – Trio Surdina
04 – Risque (Ary Barroso) – Trio Surdina
05 – Aquarela do Brasil (Ary Barroso) – Léo Peracchi
06 – Por Causa Desta Cabôca (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto) – Léo Peracchi
07 – Brasil Moreno (Ary Barroso / Luis Peixoto) – Léo Peracchi
08 – No Tabuleiro da Baiana (Ary Barroso) – Léo Peracchi

I cannot evaluate if you had fun with the last Trio Surdina release, but I think it is reasonable to make another try, now taking a very old release. This is Trio Surdina – Ouvindo Trio Surdina Volume 1 (1953), for Musidisc, provided by the mighty Mr. X., this is perhaps the oldest LP released at Loronix, actually, not a LP, but a 10′.

This LP has the well-known line up with Garoto (guitar), Fafa Lemos (violin) and Chiquinho (accordion), all tracks are Brazilian folklore compositions.

I don’t known what a the tricks used by Mr. X. to bring us a such a perfect cover artwork, amazingly beautiful for a record released more than 50 years ago. This release has the bit rate of 96Kbps on a small 15Mb package, I would like to explain again that this is a MP3Pro release with an output close and sometimes better than a 192Kbps standard MP3. Tracks include:

01 – Prenda Minha (Tradicional)
02 – Peixe Vivo (Tradicional)
03 – Casinha Pequenina (Tradicional)
04 – Mulher Rendeira (Tradicional)
05 – Casinha na Colina (Tradicional)
06 – Coco Dendê (Tradicional)
07 – Coco Perenuê (Tradicional)
08 – Cantigas de Roda (Tradicional)

Trio Surdina – Trio Surdina em Bossa Nova (1963)

Woow! That’s a great release with all the ingredients that I like. This is Trio Surdina, an instrumental trio that released more than 70 records, all released for the same record label, the legendary Musidisc of Nilo Sergio. Probably, Trio Surdina is Nilo Sergio creation since the name surdina is a joke, meaning that members cannot be revealed.

Trio Surdina members were not revealed due contract obligations with other record labels, great Musidisc idea. Obviously, they were revealed or discovered later and most of Trio Surdina recordings were made by Fafa Lemos (violin), Garoto (guitar) and Chiquinho (accordion). Garoto – Anibal Augusto Sardinha – is a renowned Brazilian guitarist.

This is Trio Surdina – Trio Surdina em Bossa Nova (1963), for Musidisc. The line-up for this Trio Surdina “edition” is Waltel Branco (guitar), Chiquinho do Acordeom (accordion) and Patane (violin). Please give me your feedback about Trio Surdina; I have earlier releases that I can share with friends in a near future. Tracks include:

01 – Corcovado (Tom Jobim)
02 – História (Nilo Sergio)
03 – Depois do Carnaval (Silvino Júnior / Wilson Tirapelli)
04 – Chega de Sofrer (Luis Paulo / Orlann Divo)
05 – Preciso Dar Um Jeito (Silvio César)
06 – Lindos Olhos Azuis (Waltel Branco / Ivo Branco)
07 – Que Saudade (Ed Lincoln)
08 – Deixa a Nega Gingar (Luis Cláudio)
09 – Samba Em Prelúdio (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
10 – Menino Desce Daí (Paulinho Nogueira)
11 – Dê Mais Amor (Waltel Branco / Joluz)
12 – O Amor Em Paz (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
