This is the Christmas gift zecalouro received from Caetano Rodrigues. What a gift! Classy, elegant and with a beautiful cover. Thanks Caetano for this LP.
We are talking about The Normal Luboff Choir – The Latin Luboff (1965), for RCA Victor, twelve well-known songs arranged for voice and orchestra with the participation of Laurindo Almeida and his guitar in all tracks. Beautiful, Laurindo makes the difference on this record with his gentle and intimistic guitar playing, making the perfect background and introductions on each track.
Normal Luboff and his Choir is among the most popular choral ensembles of the 50’s and 60’s, releasing a series of albums during this period. In this LP, the Choir is composed by twenty voices, 12 boys and 8 girls. The Norman Luboff Choir also backed a number of vocalists including Harry Belafonte and Doris Day and even after Norman Luboff passing in 1987, they continued touring. Take a special attention to Manha de Carnaval and As I do Now, which is the Jequibau based tune Sim from Mario Albanese / Ciro Pereira. Tracks include:
01 – Yours (Quiereme Mucho)
02 – Sarah’s Samba
03 – Watch What Happens
04 – The Peanut Vendor
05 – Be Mine Tonight
06 – Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps
07 – Sunset And Moonrise
