I was postponing this post for several days, just because I did not feel capable to write something meaningful and appropriate to the importance of this artist to Brazilian music. This post is an update, perhaps one of the most important among many others that need improvements and best approach to our community. Maurício Einhorn is a true legend, one of the most original musicians on his instrument — the harmonica — and one of the most important Brazilian popular music composers for decades. Let’s see.

This is Mauricio Einhorn – ME (1980), for Clam/Continental, the debut LP of an artist that started professionally in the year of 1947, recorded for the first time in 1949 with an harmonica band, the Brazilian Rascals, had a composition recorded for the first time in 1960, Sambop (Mauricio Einhorn / Durval Ferreira), but could only release his first solo LP in 1980. Anyway, it is not necessary to say that you cannot miss this one, ME is an excellent album, featuring Mauricio Einhorn compositions and his outstanding harmonica playing backed by a constellation of Brazilian musicians. Tracks include:

Radames Gnattali e Laurindo Almeida - Suite Popular Brasileira (1956)

This Sunday is different from all others. Under normal conditions, Sunday delivers a low traffic at Loronix, but not the second Sunday of February, lasting 3 hours to the end, this Sunday is already the busiest one in Loronix history. That’s why I decided to show you a special album at the beginning, sent by my good friend cvllos as of my birthday gift. I don’t need to say more, just look at this cover to understand that we are facing a historical album. Let’s see.

This is Radames Gnattali e Laurindo de Almeida – Suite Popular Brasileira para Violao e Piano (1956), for the underrated Continental label. By the way, I need to say that Continental, a great label that had its peak in the 78rpm years and also in the early 70’s, recorded most of the albums released in the last five days at Loronix, Returning to this nice Continental 10-inch, Radames Gnattali delivers piano playing and all six compositions, while Laurindo Almeida plays violao eletrico “electric acoustic guitar”, which is a really unusual combination. I always thought the first Brazilian album featuring violao and piano was Samambaia by Cesar Camargo Mariano and Helio Delmiro, and then comes cvllos with this one, recorded 24 years before Samambaia in the same concept. Thanks cvllos. Tracks include:

Personnel

Radames Gnattali

Laurindo Almeida
(violao eletrico)

Track List

01 – Invocação a Xangô (Radamés Gnattali)
02 – Toada (Radamés Gnattali)

05 – Baião (Radamés Gnattali)

monarcoI think this is a perfect close of our first 2008 Samba Saturday at Loronix. Monarco is considered one of the greatest Samba composers in Brazil and never had an approach at Loronix. This is one of the greatest findings of my mother, an album where everything works close to perfection. Monarco performs his compositions backed by a constellation of Brazilian musicians and although recording only a few albums across decades, he is a wonderful Samba interpreter. Let’s see.

This is Monarco – Monarco (1976), for Continental, the first Monarco career LP, featuring the participation of Velha Guarda da Portela, which is a group of renowned Samba artists of Escola de Samba Portela in Rio de Janeiro. Monarco has Ze Menezes in charge of arrangements and features Neco, Dino 7 Cordas, Jorginho, Luizao, Wilson das Neves and many others. I think you cannot skip this one, even if you are not a Samba fan. Tracks include:

Norma Bengell - Norma, Canta Mulheres (1977)

iwd_4Hello, good evening! We have a good reason to postpone the start of our Samba Saturday at Loronix, the International Women’s Day is being celebrated today and this post is Loronix homage to all women in the world, being also celebrated by Leo Ribeiro and Martoni at their Forma e Elenco Radio Show. I would like also to thanks JOAO-SP and the friends of CBox for shouting about this date, I have to admit that I was not aware of this important date.

Anyway, a special date requires a special post and this one is really special featuring Norma Bengell and her second and last career LP released by Elenco. Let’s see.

This is Norma Bengell – Norma Canta Mulheres (1977), for Elenco, featuring Norma Bengell performing a repertoire with songs composed by girls, no room for men compositions here. This is a fantastic album that follows on that “cannot wait longer” category, it is incredibly hard to find and this copy is not my vinyl transfer. The back cover is missing from the download package and personnel listing is probably incomplete, I’m not sure about it. Sivuca plays a major role at Norma Canta Mulheres, delivering arrangements and playing. If someone has additional information to provide, I will be pleased to update this post with full personnel listing. Tracks include:

It is impossible to show this album without explaining the weird story behind it. The idea of making Arrigo Barnabe debut LP came from the last and first Arrigo Barnabe album at Loronix, Facanhas, kindly sent by Ad Hoc. I said to AdHoc that I had this album and it was only a matter of waiting a couple of days to make it.

When I decided to make it a couple of weeks ago, I did not find this album and I got really disappointed. Anyway, every Thursday, I receive my loyal assistance to make some housekeeping and other things. I decided to ask her for the album, the last hope and immediately, she guided me to a hidden place with several albums, including Clara Crocodilo. My Assitance has this mania, if something is scaring, she hides from the view of everybody. Now I’m happy to get back my LP. Just a final warning, get ready for an above the flow of scaring cover artworks. Let’s see.

This is Arrigo Barnabe e Banda Sabor de Veneno – Clara Crocodilo (1980), for Continental, presented here by the original first 1980 vinyl issue. I have special feelings about this album, which is not for beginners; Arrigo Barnabe approximates classical music, popular music with comics using dodecaphonic and atonal elements, delivering a unique output, something very different from the music we use to listen at Loronix. Tracks include:

Banda Sabor de Veneno

Regina Porto
(electric piano, piano, voice)
Bozo Barretti
(synthesizer, electric piano, piano, voice)
Paulo Barnabe
(drums, percussion, voice)
Gi Gibson

Elza Soares - Tapecar (1976)

Hello, good evening! This little record comes to announce that tomorrow we will have a full day devoted to the Samba in Loronix, which is the already legendary Samba Saturday with the first 2008 edition. If you were waiting anxiously for a Samba Saturday, you should say hello to zecalouro’s mother, who is now a frequent reader of Loronix posts through the new translation feature. She read something about the lack of Saturdays devoted to Samba and went on a successful mission to find albums in the style. I have to admit that I’m really surprised with her findings. You should not miss another Samba Saturday at Loronix. Meanwhile, Elza Soares should guide us to be in the mood for tomorrow. Let’s see.

This is Elza Soares – EP CD.73 (1976), for Tapecar, featuring Elza Soares performing four tracks, including the blockbuster Malandro, which is the sample made available at Loronix Preview Center. Tracks include:

01 – Estou Com Raiva De Você (Miro Barbosa / Jorge Roberto)
02 – Nó Na Tristeza (Vicente Matos / Carlito Cavalcanti)
03 – Malandro (Jorge Aragão / Jotabê)
04 – Curumbandê (Beto Baiano)

Oscar Brown Jr. e Luiz Henrique - Finding a New Friend (1966)

Hello, good evening! We will have a solid start today, showing a contribution coming from a new friend that lives outside of Brazil, probably overseas, carefully prepared and offered with FLAC files and nice hi-res scans of front and back cover. Our international collaborator says that Oscar Brown Jr. and Luiz Henrique deliver a perfect collaboration between a North American artist and a Brazilian artist and this is really worth checking out. Let’s see.

This is Oscar Brown Jr. & Luiz Henrique – Finding a New Friend (1966), for Fontana, featuring Sivuca arrangements on tracks 01 – Laia Ladaia, 02 – Nothin’ but a Fool and 08 – Dawn Comes Again with Luiz Henrique is in charge of the remaining tracks. Finding a New Friend is all about the friendship of both main performers since the first time they met in 1965 at Greenwich Village Coffee House. The repertoire features a blend of America tunes with Brazilian music, including several songs written by Luiz Henrique in partnership with Oscar Brown Jr. Loronix Preview Center features the title track 07 – Finding a New Friend (Luiz Henrique / Oscar Brown Jr.). Tracks include:

01 – Laia Ladaia
02 – Nothin’ but a Fool

Elizeth Cardoso - Feito em Casa (1974)

Hello, good evening! Today I decided to pick up one of my first vinyl transfers at Loronix and made it again, just to see if my skills were improved after making several others transfers across the last year. My choice was this fantastic and underrated Elizeth Cardoso LP, released in 1974 at Copacabana. I read that Joao Gilberto reaches his magnificent guitar playing and interpretation using repetitions and repetition really makes you perform better. This reposting is the outcome with improvements on music and also front and back cover scans. I’m gathering my first April 1 2007 writing. Let’s see.

Original writing

Let’s make a solid start today posting a album that is probably unknown to many friends, recorded by one of the most loved female singer at Loronix, Elizeth Cardoso.

This is Elizeth Cardoso – Feito em Casa (1974), for Copacabana, all about Samba from start to end with Elizeth Cardoso delivering all her vocal tricks, accompanied by a female chorus and arranged by top-notch Brazilian Maestros, such as Geraldo Vespar, Chiquinho de Moraes and Sergio Carvalho. Samba fans will be delighted with this album that reveals Elizeth Cardoso as a really nice Samba interpreter. The back cover has something never seen before, photos of all composers of the twelve tracks. Elizeth seems to be really in charge of each record she makes. Feito em Casa has also the mighty Moacyr Silva as production director.

I’m sending also a gorgeous video with voice and bass featuring Elizeth Cardoso and Luiz Chaves of Zimbo Trio performing Se Queres Saber (Peter Pan). It is not necessary to say, but I like to say if you forget, it is another Powered by Luiz Harding video. Tracks include:

Milton Banana Trio - Linha de Passe (1984)

milton1

I was saving this album for a future opportunity; there are several Milton Banana albums already available at Loronix. Moreover, I had nothing in particular to say about this record. I learned today that Linha de Passe is the last album recorded by Milton Banana, 1984, more than a decade before his passing in 1999. This fact made me feel particularly sad, but the sadness disappeared as soon as I put this album to spin, which is exactly like all the other albums recorded by this great musician, despretencious, happier, but sincere, a work of love. Wherever Milton Banana is right now, it is important he knows there is a community that loves its music and works a lot to preserve his memory.

This is Milton Banana Trio – Linha de Passe (1984), for RCA Candem, featuring Milton Banana on drums accompanied by not credited musicians, which is something very strange on the RCA release. If you are giving the first steps on Brazilian music, this album is highly recommended, it saved my night today and I hope it makes you feel great, such as I’m now. Tracks include:

01 – Linha de Passe (João Bosco / Paulo Emílio / Aldir Blanc)
02 – Flor de Lis (Djavan)
03 – Meu Guri (Chico Buarque)
04 – Velas Içadas (Ivan Lins / Vitor Martins)
05 – Batendo a Porta (João Nogueira / Paulo César Pinheiro)
06 – Exaltação à Bahia (Dorival Caymmi)
07 – Serrado (Djavan)
08 – Sampa (Caetano Veloso)
09 – Tô Voltando (Maurício Tapajós / Paulo César Pinheiro)

Conjunto Sergio Carvalho - Ritmo, Danca e Alegria (1968)

Hello, good evening! Since I saw this album for the first time at the essential Brazilian music discography and cover artwork website Bossa Nova On-line, I started tracking it down for our community. This week, I saw an e-bay listing with this album, being offered by the unbelievable US$ 349,95 Buy it Now price. Since I have as a personal rule to do not spend more than US$ 5,00 on an album, I decided to make it today, using MP3s made available by someone at the Internet. I hope you support my decision. Let’s see.

This is Conjunto Sergio Carvalho – Ritmo, Danca e Alegria (1968), for Philips, featuring the Brazilian organist and composer Sergio Carvalho and his Conjunto with credited musicians at the back cover. Unfortunately, the scan is not good and I could read only Sergio Carvalho’s name and producer’s name, which is the legendary Durval Ferreira. Ritmo, Danca e Alegria has a single track on each side and eighteen tunes across the entire album. I decided to crop the beginning of Side B to show Ponteio (Edu Lobo / Capinan) at Loronix Preview Center. Tracks include:

Side A

Canzone Per Te (Sergio Endrigo / Bardotti)
Adieu a La Nuit (M. Jarre / M. Vidalin)
L’amour Est Bleu (André Popp / M. Cour)
The Look Of Love (Burt Bacharach / H. David)
San Francisco (J. Philips)
O Homem Proibido (Lyrio Panicali)
Malayisha (M. Makeba / Ragovoy)
Pata Pata (Ragovoy / M. Makeba)
Suck’um Up (K. Lee)
Alegria Alegria (Caetano Veloso)

Side B

Ponteio (Edu Lobo / Capinan)
Até Quarta-feira (H. Silva / Paulo Sette)
Noite dos Mascarados (Chico Buarque)
Amor de Carnaval (Zé Keti)
Triste Madrugada (Jorge Costa)
Voltei (Oswaldo Nunes / Celso Castro)
Você Voltou (Beto / Oldemar Magalhães / Fernando Luz)
Gana (E. Wilkins)

Moacyr Silva – Dancando com Voce Nr. 3 (1959)

Moacyr Silva - Dançando Com Você Nr. 3

This repost address several issues, such as the cover artwork scans update, the music (now including the missing track 09 – Tudo ou Nada) improved by a new transfer and the FLAC option was added, but what is most important about this post is to introduce Moacyr Silva to the great number of new friends that joined Loronix in 2008. Moacyr Silva was not released this year and this is a nice opportunity to update this album and bring back this great artist to the front page. I’m retrieving the original writing. Let’s see.

Original text:

Hello, Good Evening! Everyday I blame myself on skip the image processing class when I was at school. I have a great problem on using image-processing software to make clean covers (2008: thanks to Mr. E., I’m now a quite skilled parrot on this subject). When I get a nice cover such as this one opening this post I feel very frustrated of not knowing how to remove marks, clean surface, among other tasks. In this example, I’m really mad with that circle mark made by the record living inside the envelop in the last 48 years. I hope to have this skill someday. Anyway, this cover is really magnificent and the music, at the same level. Let’s see what we have here.

This is Moacyr Silva e Seu Conjunto – Dancando com Voce Nr. 3 (1959), for Copacabana, another above of the average Moacyr Silva album, accompanied by “Conjunto” featuring his preferred pianist Chaim Lewack. Such like “Sax Sensacional”, “Dancando com Voce” is a series of records that started in 1956 with the first one on 10-inch format, the first Moacyr Silva LP, ending with “Dancando com Voce Nr. 4, released just before Nr. in 1959. This record was found on a very bad condition and some noise occurs (2008: the noise remains, but with great improvement and do not spoils this nice album). Loronix engineers failed on getting track 09, a big scratch made this track unplayable (2008: track 09 is now available). Tracks include:

Personnel

Moacyr Silva

Chaim Lewack

Julio Barbosa
(trumpet)
Ed. Maciel
(trombone)
Hanestaldo Americo
(drums)
Raul Gagliardi
(bass)
Maurilio da Silva Santos
(trumpet)

Track List

01 – Deus Lhe Pague (Polera / André Penazzi / David Nasser)
02 – Som e Melodia (Julio Barbosa)

Grandes Instrumentistas Brasileiros (1977)

Hello, good evening! Here we go on an album that I was tracking down for many months. This is a very nice compilation of remastered tracks taken from 78rpm released by Continental between 1932 and 1965 focusing instrumental musicians. I think Brazilian music researchers should take a carefully attention to this album featuring really important artists with original recordings not very easy to find. If do not follow on this category, you should take it by the opportunity of hearing the music from Brazil recorded before Bossa Nova creation. I would like to say thank you to Leo Rugero, musician and a tireless Brazilian music researcher for pointing this album and a very interest artist inside. Let’s see.

This is Grandes Instrumentistas Brasileiros (1978), for Continental, featuring several artists and their original remastered recordings taken from Continental 78RPM releases. Among giants like Jacob do Bandolim, Abel Ferreira, Dilermando Reis, Radames Gnattali and others; this album features an original recording and a participation of the legendary Pereira Filho, a fascinating musician, and precursor in the use of electric guitar in Brazil. Raphael Rabello & Dino 7 Cordas - Raphael Rabello & Dino 7 Cordas (1991)

Hello, good evening! I hope everybody had a very productive Monday, as it was mine. I worked beyond my scheduled today, delaying the start my work at Loronix. This is the reason why only a single album is released today. Thus, I decided to show friends an album that worth several other together, a historic album bringing together The Master and his most faithful disciple, two extraordinary musicians, unfortunately, no longer in this planet with us. Let’s see.

This is Raphael Rabello & Dino 7 Cordas (1991), for Kuarup, featuring the legendary violao 7 cordas player Horondino Jose da Silva, also known as Dino 7 Cordas and Raphael Rabello, performing together eleven renditions of a nice selection of Samba and Choro. Dino 7 Cordas was 73 when he went to studio with Raphael Rabello, young enough to be his grandson. The performances are overwhelming, Dino 7 Cordas plays as if he was a kid and Raphael Rabello seems to be so fascinated on a studio with his master that delivers his best. This is the kind of released that you should not miss, no matter if you are a musician or a listener. Tracks include:

Personnel

Dino 7 Cordas
(violao 7 cordas, arrangements)
Rafael Rabello

Sivuca - Um Pe No Asfalto Um Pe na Buraqueira (1990)-BACK

This is a chance and also a hint to new friends or those who are taking the first steps with Brazilian music to get along with a great artist, last released at Loronix almost four months ago. I’m talking about Severino Dias de Oliveira, or just Sivuca, a special musician, arranger, accordionist, composer, being also a multi instrumentalist. Sivuca had a successful international career, performing with Radames Gnattali, Baden Powell, Toots Thielemans, among many others. Let’s see.

This is Sivuca – Um Pe no Asfalto – Um Pe na Buraqueira (1990), for Copacabana, featuring Sivuca at his best, playing instrumental tunes with accordion. This album is delicious to hear and I cannot understand the reason to never being reissued on CD, such like the last album by Quarteto Negro. Loronix Preview Center features the title track, 02 – Um Pe no Asfalto, Um Pe na Buraqueira. I’m also bringing back from Loronix archives a music video with Sivuca performing Ceu e Mar in Sweden, 1968. Rildo Hora and Sivuca’s wife Gloria Gadelha are special guests, as detailed on track listing. Tracks include:

01 – Bom e Bonito (Oswaldinho do Acordeom)
02 – Um Pé no Asfalto Outro na Buraqueira (Dominguinhos)
03 – Casa Amarela (Sivuca)
04 – Forró da Gente (Cecéu) with Glória Gadelha

Quarteto Negro - Quarteto Negro (1987)

Hello, good evening! In the last days, I was trying to identify the reason of a major increase of Loronix. Just as an example, February was a record in number of visits and we know that February is a month with only 29 days and includes Carnaval and school holidays, a month that many friends use to left the city on trips. The answer came today and I was very pleased to confirm that our new translation service is responsible, improving the rate of people that make 2 or more visitors at Loronix. This is awesome response. Anyway, why talking about these matters? Perhaps it is my way to show how I’m happy with this fast 2008 start at Loronix.

Today we will have great albums, starting with this one, never released in CD and pretty unknown to everybody. Let’s see.

This is Quarteto Negro – Quarteto Negro (1987), for Kuarup, featuring the internationally acclaimed Paulo Moura, the percussionist Djalma Correa, the bassist Jorge Degas and the Brazilian singer Zeze Motta, assembled to release this first and only album, which is a fantastic instrumental album mixing Jazz, Samba and Afro rhythms. Zeze Motta delivers vocals on five out of 10 tracks, but what amazed me most at Quarteto Negro is the percussion delivered by Djalma Correa, which is a really gifted musician. Loronix Preview Center features 01 – Folozinha (Marku Ribas / Reinaldo Amaral), try it and you will not resist the overall Quarteto Negro experience. Tracks include:

Victor Assis Brasil - Victor Assis Brasil Quinteto (1979)

musiciansquinteto

This album is very important to me and also to Loronix and our great community. It was one of the first records included on our database and played a very important role of bringing new friends. Moreover, it is a great album, which I include between the two best ones recorded by this great musician, Victor Assis Brasil. This update includes a new digital transfer, carefully scanned cover artwork, including internal materials and the availability of the lossless FLAC audio. Let’s see.

This is Victor Assis Brasil – Victor Assis Brasil Quinteto (1979), for Odeon, featuring lots of information inside, including Victor Assis Brasil biography information written by Jose Domingos Rafaelli, both in Portuguese and English. I wish all records would be like this one, with all information available and a beautiful design. I decided to make all cover scan with no Rapidshare, just to make easy to everybody. This is a self-explanatory album that never had a CD reissue. You should not miss. Tracks include:

Maria Odette – Festival da Musica Popular Brasileira (1966)

Maria Odette (1966)

This single is very interesting for different reasons, first, by that cover artwork, more suitable for a film by Alfred Hitchcock. Second, the legendary label Mocambo and its first single at Loronix. Third, the opportunity to watch the video that probably gave the chance to make this little album, recorded during Festival da Musica Popular Brasileira Rede Record (1966). There are other interesting things to tell about this single, but it is better tell you in the next paragraph. Let’s see.

This is Maria Odette – Festival da Musica Popular Brasileira (1966), for Mocambo, featuring Um Dia (Caetano Veloso) on Side A, which is the song that received the prize of the best lyrics on that Festival and Levante (Geraldo Vandre) on Side B. The video features Maria Odette performing Um Dia with the participation of Caetano Veloso at the audience with the camera delivering a lot of time with Caetano images instead of Maria Odette. Tracks include:

01 – Um Dia (Caetano Veloso)
02 – Levante (Geraldo Vandre)

Jamelao - Jamelao (1980)

Hello, good evening! I was thinking about making one of those Samba Saturdays at Loronix, the day where Samba has its emphasis to our great community. Unfortunately, this parrot does not have Samba no Pé, having a great difficulty to select the right picks. However, I don’t need to be a Samba expert to understand that we have here a really special album, which is the celebration of Jamelao Jubileu de Prata (25 years) at Continental label that did not measured efforts to build an anthological piece of record that never had the chance to be reissued in CD. Let’s see.

This is Jamelao – Jamelao (1980), for Continental, featuring a constellation of Brazilian musicians, including arrangements by Maestro Nelsinho and Maestro Severino Araujo, with the participation of Neco, Ze Bodega, Moacyr Marques “Bijou”, Jorginho and the legendary Fat’s Elpidio at the piano, which is somewhat surprising, since the 60’s I did not see the participation of Fat’s Elpidio in recordings. Tracks include:

Nana Caymmi - Nana Caymmi (1975)

I bought this album from the hands of a guy living in the streets, on acceptable conditions a few months ago. The price paid not even buy a can of soft drink, for example. It is part of human nature to do not value to the things that are easy conquered. It was exactly what happened with this album, stored and forgotten for months. Great waste of my part; this record is one of the best Nana Caymmi solo LPs and has the participation of Antonio Carlos Jobim and a breathtaking cast. Let’s see.

This is Nana Caymmi – Nana Caymmi (1975), for CID, the second Nana Caymmi solo album, recorded after a hiatus of 10 years since her debut LP for Elenco in 1965. Nana Caymmi got married with a Venezuelan doctor and moved there in 1959. Then she came back in seven years later. In terms of comparison, this album shows a completely different artist from 1965 Elenco debut. Loronix Preview Center features 01 – Ponta de Areia (Milton Nascimento / Fernando Brant), with backing vocals by Milton Nascimento and the piano of Maestro Antonio Carlos Jobim. Tracks include:

Luiz Gonzaga - O Nordeste na Voz de Luiz Gonzaga (1962)

Hello, good evening! Any history of Brazilian popular music will not be complete if does not dedicate a whole chapter to Luiz Gonzaga, “O Rei do Baiao”, finally available at Loronix. Thanks to everyone to keep whispering on this parrot ear to correct this important missing piece at our community. Luiz Gonzaga, “The King of Baiao,” is also the creator of this style, the baiao style, popular across decades and recorded by legends as Luiz Bonfá, Dolores Duran, Dick Farney and others. Maysa - Maysa (1974)

Here we go with an extraordinary launch-time album, supposed to be released yesterday, but delayed by last minute technical problems. This is Maysa last career album, released by Evento, an Odeon subsidiary in charge of the mighty Aloysio de Oliveira. The label Evento – by the way very similar to the legendary “Elenco” – had a short life launching only 6 records, three compilations and three unpublished albums, this last Maysa Mattarazzo LP, Billy Blanco and his Paulistana – Um Retrato de uma Cidade symphony and the mega rare collaboration between Oscar Castro Neves and Lee Ritenour – Um Encontro. Let’s see.

This is Maysa – Maysa (1974), for Evento, courtesy of the great JOAO-SP. This is the third Evento album released at Loronix and they have the same cover artwork concept by Cesar G. Villela, which is great, but makes them looks the same each other. In the other hand, Aloysio de Oliveira delivers lots of information inside about the recording session, including the participation of Oscar Castro Neves as arranger (perhaps delivering piano and violao playing) and orchestra arrangements from Lindolpho Gaya. Unfortunately, Aloysio de Oliveira did not credit musicians in the session. The whole story is available in the panorama picture bellow, also included in a high-res scan inside the music. Thanks once again JOAO-SP for another great contribution.

Paulinho Nogueira - O Fino do Violao Vol. 2 (1980)

Hello, good evening! I want to start today addressing a challenge made by our friend GR at the comment section of the last Paulinho Nogueira post. GR said: “I have a few Nogueira requests – if you can make them happen I will be very very happy and I promise to record a Brazilian song on guitar for you!! (instrumental)”. I cannot wait to see GR playing instrumental guitar on video, since Paulinho Nogueira – O Fino do Violao Vol. 2 (1980) is on GR waiting list. Let’s see.

Loronix Preview Center features GR most wanted Paulinho Nogueira rendition on this album, Travessia (Milton Nascimento / Fernando Brant). S. Bach. Tracks include:

Amado Maita - Amado Maita (1972)

I have been wondering a lot about an issue, which is the unavailability of really important albums in my LP collection, no matter they are available or not at Loronix. When available, I think they should be reposted with a flawless digital transfer and high quality scans of front and back covers, including the lossless FLAC option. I keep waiting, waiting and waiting for a chance to find these albums and give them a better approach to our community at Loronix first page.

Anyway, I took a decision, I will not wait longer, since some of these albums are quite impossible to find or are available only by prices I cannot afford. Let’s start today a series of posts or repostings of these fantastic albums using versions taken from the Internet or made available by friends in the past. Beginning this new concept, it is better making on the best possible manner. Let’s see.

This is Amado Maita – Amado Maita (1972), for Copacabana, with new MP3 files, featuring 320Kbps bitrate, against the previous 192Kbps. Additionally, cover artwork was improved with scratch removal and other adjustments. Cosmetic details since the most important thing is to bring Amado Maita back to evidence, giving a chance to new and old friends to get in contact with this great musician. Check also the comment section with several important statements about Amado Maita, including a beautiful writing of Mariana Maita, Amado Maita daughter, which is the same Mariana of track 02 – Mariana (Amado Maita), reproduce just bellow. You should also visit Ed Motta’s Empoeirado web show, featuring an interview with Amado Maita, follow this link, here. Tracks include:

“O que dizer sobre este album e principalmente sobre o lindo decreto de felicidade feito pra mim? Para mim mais que uma obra prima a concretizacao ainda que sem sucesso do seu talento apaixonante por que assim ele era. Tudo era musica na vida dele e agradeco por poder ouvir essas e outras perolas que infelizmente poucos conhecem. Orgulho imenso ainda poder viver a musica de Amado Maita porque para mim eh imortal!”

Aracy de Almeida - O Samba em Pessoa (1961)

Aracy de Almeida was a great discover to many friends at Loronix, especially those ones who have less than 40 years. I cannot count how many messages I receive by friends with many thanks to transform someone who was just a member of Sunday TV show into one of the best Brazilian Samba interpreters ever. Aracy de Almeida is a great artist and will always deserve a special place at Loronix. Let’s see.

This is Aracy de Almeida – O Samba em Pessoa (1961), for RCA Candem, a compilation of Aracy de Almeida interpretations taken from 78 rpms albums recorded in the late 30’s and early 40’s. These tracks are really old and in spite of the remastering work made by RCA, the output is clean, but it was recorded with the resources available in 1937 to 1942. Tracks include the original released date of each tune. Tracks include:

01 – [1937] Tenha Pena de Mim (Cyro de Souza / Babahu)
02 – [1938] O Que Foi Que Eu Fiz (Cyro de Souza)
03 – [1937] Século do Progresso (Noel Rosa)
04 – [1940] Com Razão Ou Sem Razão (David Nasser / Ary de Almeida)
05 – [1939] Camisa Amarela (Ary Barroso)
06 – [1938] Rapaz Folgado (Noel Rosa)
07 – [1937] Último Desejo (Noel Rosa)
08 – [1938] Quem Mandou Coração (Roberto Martins / Jorge Faraj)
09 – [1937] O Maior Castigo Que Eu Te Dou (Noel Rosa)
10 – [1937] Eu Sei Sofrer (Noel Rosa)
11 – [1942] Fez Bobagem (Assis Valente)
12 – [1937] Qual o Quê (Antonio Almeida)

.

A capa segue abaixo:

Carinhoso - Trilha Sonora Original (1973)
Hello, good evening! Here we go on another TV Globo original sound track of one of those novels of the good old days, which in my opinion is between the late 60’s until the mid 70’s. What makes these OSTs different from today is the artists selection, always featuring giants such like Marcos Valle, Erlon Chaves and Luiz Eca, mixed with not well-know by the mass audiences, but really worth checking artists, such like Piry Reis, Trama and Fernando Leporace, featured on this OST. Let’s see.

This is Carinhoso – Trilha Sonora Original (1973), for Som Livre. Carinhoso has an above the average duration for a TV Globo OST, 46 minutes of music and two different situations. Side B features tunes with lyrics, performed by the legendary Piry Reis, Osmar Milito, Trama, Fernando Leporace, Marcos Valle and an instrumental cut that opens the album 01 – Amar, Sofrer e Sonhar, performed by the obscure Nuvens, which is a group that I never heard before. Side B is all instrumental, featuring a single artist, Marcio Montarroyos, backed by orchestra and chorus. Loronix Preview Center features 04 – Manha de Sol (Piry Reis), performed by Piry Reis. Tracks include:
