Hello, good evening! Today I want to start with another nice contribution sponsored by a great friend, the might AdHoc, that rocks! AdHoc has been of a great help during this week of IT crisis, for reasons that I don’t know, his user on my hosting company is the only not affected by the outage. Until further notice, AdHoc has the command, at least by his username. AdHoc says this cover is not good enough to Loronix. I say this cover is great! AdHoc seems to be a Photoshop Master on his Macintosh; his restorations are always impeccable, if PhotoShop exists on Mac platform. Anyway, this is another AdHoc contribution. Let’s see.

This is Clara Sverner & Paulo Moura – Interpretam Pixinguinha (1988), for Columbia, featuring the classical piano of Clara Sverner and the clarinet of Paulo Moura performing a repertoire 100% dedicated to Pixinguinha. This is third out of three albums released by Clara Sverner and Paulo Moura, always delivering a nice blend of classical and popular music. I was very anxious throughout the whole day and this album was a perfect relief, the fine Pixinguinha compositions is all about quietness and peace that we all need in our lives. Tracks include:

Hello, good evening! Let’s start this Saturday with another classy contribution by cvllos, featuring Clara Sverner and Paulo Moura. It was very wise of cvllos to send this one for the weekend. It’s cold in Rio de Janeiro and this album is a perfect match, at least with my mood today. Let’s see.

This is Clara Sverner & Paulo Moura – Vou Vivendo (1986), for EMI Odeon, featuring the classic piano of Clara Sverner and the acclaimed sax player Paulo Moura performing Pixinguinha, Radames Gnattali, Chiquinha Gonzaga and Ronaldo Miranda. This is a live recording of a concert at Escola Nacional de Música, Salao Leopoldo Miguez in Rio de Janeiro. A music video by Pedro Mendes is also available with Clara Sverner and Paulo Moura performing at Sala Funarte Sidney Miller in 1983. Tracks include:

Hello, Good Evening! I was invited by Irinea Ribeiro to watch her concert tonight with Clarisse Grova. Irinea and Clarisse will be performing at Panorama, Rua Joao Lira, 95 / 19, 9pm. Irinea said this concert has a great influence of Loronix and the repertoire is based on the music she has the chance to hear again at Loronix. This is really great! Thanks Irinea.

I’m leaving, but Loronixers will stay in very good company. Since we start making Paulo Moura music more often, I received requests and recommendations to make available one of his albums in collaboration with the Brazilian pianist Clara Sverner. It was not that easy to find this one, perhaps the only one out of print. Let’s see.

This is Clara Sverner e Paulo Moura – Clara Sverner e Paulo Moura (1983), for Angel/EMI, featuring 6 classic compositions by Heitor Villa Lobos, Marlos Nobre, Radames Gnattali, Eduardo Souto, Jacques Ibert and Gilberto Mendes performed with Clara Sverner Piano and Paulo Moura sax. This is a great listening experience, this album shows that Paulo Moura is really a gifted sax player, trully beautiful. Tracks include:

Here is an album were Brazilian popular music meets Brazilian classical music on a breathtaking and unique session, one of a kind at Loronix and very hard to review and describe by this humble parrot. Encontro is a live performance of four artists, Paulo Moura, Clara Sverner, Turibio Santos and Olivia Byington, recorded on two different sessions in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. I think you should not miss this one, let’s see.

This is Paulo Moura, Clara Sverner, Turibio Santos e Olivia Byington – Encontro (1984), for Quarup. Paulo Moura has been with us in the earlier posts and it is well known to Loronxiers. Clara Sverner is an eurudite pianist and also a researcher on forgotten composers of Brazilian music, Clara Sverner has been recording with Paulo Moura since the early 80’s and their albums are also a perfect example of blending of Classical and Popular music. Turibio Santos is one of the most important classical guitar instrumentalists in Brazil, he has recorded more than 40 albums and makes also the bridge between classic and popular music with a great work of recording old composers. Olivia Byington is an acclaimed Brazilian singer and delivers nice vocals on Heitor Villa Lobos compositions. The repertoire is a mix of several styles. You should not miss this one. Tracks include:
