Hello, good evening! I’m confident that everything will be delivery with no errors. I’ve been making small mistakes on each post and this is something really frustrating. The causes are many, mainly a change on my routine. Now I use to wake up at the time I was going to bed a month ago. When midnight approaches, a kind of tractor beam drags me with all the forces toward my bed, and everything becomes very difficult. But today is different; Aracy de Almeida saved my day, and probably can save yours with this little and very old tribute to Noel Rosa recorded in 1955 in the 10-inch format for Continental. Let’s see.

This is Aracy de Almeida – Cancoes de Noel Rosa com Aracy de Almeida (1955), for Continental. It is unbelievable that Noel Rosa died with 26 years old and be considered as one of the most important Brazilian popular music composers from the last century. Aracy de Almeida is a favorite singer of many friends and does not need to be introduced. In the other hand, this album features arrangements by Vadico, the most frequent Noel Rosa songwriting partner and also an acclaimed musician with international experience. We need to show one of the three and impossible to find Vadico’s career LPs someday. These albums were recorded between 1956 and 1959 and seem to be really impossible to find. Tracks include:

Leal Brito - Noel Rosa Sem Parceiros (1957)

Limited by those hosting issues explained on last post, I had to find alternatives of good music not necessarily made available on big FLAC files. For my surprise, there are several wonderful albums on an old hard drive that I thought it defective and now works perfect. A friend in the very beginning of Loronix sent this album and I do not understand why it was not released earlier. Let’s see.

This is Leao Brito e Seu Conjunto – Noel Rosa sem Parceiros (1957), for Sinter. Actually the Brazilian pianist Leal Brito, also knwon as Britinho, has the accompaniment of four different conjuntos, called by Sinter as Conjunto A, B, C and D, each one with a different set-up. The album title, Noel Rosa sem Parceiros, defines the repertoire, featuring twelve Noel Rosa compositions without partnership. If the friend who sent this album is still tuned with Loronix, please drop me a line or use comment section, I want to give credits to this really nice contribution. Tracks include:

Let’s start this Samba Saturday at Loronix with a classy album, awaited by several Loronixers since it was presented months ago. I was very reluctant to make this album, since it is a gift given by a very special friend on a very special day, my first flight to Sao Paulo as zecalouro. It was also my first chance to meet Caetano Rodrigues.

I want to say thank you, thank you, and thank you to Mr. W. He was the first Loronixer I could meet in Sao Paulo and I will never forget the support and this beautiful gift he gave and I kindly present here to Loronixers.

This is Aracy de Almeida – Noel Rosa | 78rpm (1950), for Continental, which is a “box set” featuring three different Aracy de Almeida 78rpm recordings with Noel Rosa compositions. The three discs were recorded for the occasion; they are numbered in a sequence as 16317-A-B, 16318-A-B and 16319-A-B. Maestro Radames Gnattali is in charge of arrangements and three different groups back Aracy de Almeida on each disc, the first one features Quarteto Continental, the second has Francisco Sergi e Sua Orquestra and the third brings Vero e Sua Orquestra. My apologies to the friends who were waiting several months for this release, this collection is truly amazing and now I understand their worry. Tracks include:

01 – Palpite Infeliz (Noel Rosa) – Quarteto Continental
02 – Conversa de Botequim (Noel Rosa / Vadico) – Quarteto Continental
03 – Feitico da Vila (Noel Rosa / Vadico) – Francisco Sergi e Sua Orquestra

This is a request from the mighty Jean-Yves, also known as Jean do Trombone made today at CBox. Actually, it is a shame that this essential album was not made available before. Polemica stands for controversy in English and they were very famous, with only a musical scope, not affecting or changing friendship between the artists that are exchanging flames on a polemica. This is the most famous Brazilian music polemica and it is between the legendary Noel Rosa and Wilson Batista.

This is Roberto Paiva & Francisco Egydio – Polemica Wilson Batista x Noel Rosa (1956), for Odeon, a tribute recorded by Roberto Paiva and Francisco Egydio to the polemica between Wilson Batista and Noel Rosa featuring all songs that were part of the polemica between both artists. I will try later to gather some additional info about this polemica that last more than three years and produced these fantastic songs. Roberto Paiva plays Wilson Batista role while Noel Rosa has performances by Francisco Egydio. Tracks include:

01 – Lenço no Pescoço (Wilson Batista) Samba
02 – Rapaz Folgado (Noel Rosa) Samba
03 – Mocinho de Vila (Wilson Batista) Samba
04 – Palpite Infeliz (Noel Rosa) Samba
05 – Frankstein (Wilson Batista) Samba
06 – Feitiço da Vila (Noel Rosa / Vadico) Samba
07 – Converda Fiada (Wilson Batista) Samba
08 – João Ninguém (Noel Rosa) Samba-canção
09 – Terra de Cego (Wilson Batista) Samba

Hello, Good Evening! Let’s start today celebrating the 93rd anniversary of one of the most important Brazilian artists, important for making the foundation of what we know today as the modern Brazilian Music. By the time he was alive, the music from Brazil was mainly regional or “country” music, he made a revolution, creating Sambas with sophisticated harmonies, beautiful melodies and revolutionary lyrics, picturing social life of Rio de Janeiro, the people in the 30’s. I’m talking about Noel Rosa.

Noel Rosa was so revolutionary that his music started to be acclaimed only ten years after his passing and as time passes he gets even more popular and recognized as a revolutionary artist. Noel Rosa said that Aracy de Almeida was her best interpreter and I want to say thanks to Moos for this contribution.

Noel Rosa is one of the main Brazilian music figures of all times, he is responsible for a revolution, bringing to Brazilian music sophisticated harmonies and lyrics with informal social themes and life in Rio de Janeiro.
