Hello, good evening! Let’s start today with a group that started as “trial” and now is a real mania among Loronixers, I’m talking about Les 4 Cadillacs, another nice creation of Musidisc owner Nilo Sergio. We have already three Les 4 Cadillacs albums available at Loronix, and this one is perhaps the best one, being also the most popular, perhaps by the cover showing these four Cadillacs. Let’s see.

This is Les 4 Cadillacs – Les 4 Cadillacs (1963), for Musidisc. We have a major change on our Les 4 Cadillacs sequel, in addition to the band leader, the legendary Ed Lincoln at the piano, vinylmaniac provided a couple of days ago the identification of the three other Cadillacs, thanks vinylmaniac! They are: Durval Ferreira (guitar), Luis Marinho (bass) and Wilson das Neves (drums). This is an awesome revelation. Tracks include:

Ed Lincoln
Durval Ferreira
Luis Marinho
Wilson das Neves

What we have here? Swing, Groovy, Balanço, Samba… all these words fits on an album that will make you dance around the house. Amazing drummer Wilson Das Neves is backing up Elza on her 1968 Elza Soares e o Baterista Wilson das Neves.

The cover is also very beautiful. You will find some Bossa Nova standards here; all sung by the distinctive, harsh voice that is Elza trademark. She is surely one of the most swing samba singer Brazil has ever made.

Friday is coming. Get the chance. Stay with light Bossa of Astrud Gilberto – just a post below – or hit the ceiling with the swinging Elza…

There is no much to say about this LP, believe me, not parrot laziness this time. Being straightforward, this is Wilson das Neves – Samba Tropi, Ate ai Morreu o Neves (1970) for Elenco. Just take a deep breathe to read personnel, breathtaking, with Os Diagonais on vocals and Mozart & Wagner at trumpet. Tracks include Brazilian songs from Chico Buarque, Roberto Menescal and Erlon Chaves and versions of Lennon & MacCartney and Burt Bacharach compositions.

This is a great Wilson das Neves LP that I tought I did not have it but was here with me for a long time. Perhaps I need to change my index from text – directory listing – to thumbnails. Wilson das Neves e Conjunto – O Som Quente e o das Neves (1976). The only difference from the last one that is available at Loronix from 1969 is the letter O at the start of the LP name.

The previous release was Wilson das Neves e Conjunto – Som Quente e o das Neves (1969). I want to say sorry for many friend of Loronix that have been requesting this LP for months and I was giving no hope. Tracks include:

01 – Estou Chegando Agora (Wilson das Neves)
02 – Berimbau (Baden Powell / Vinicius de Moraes)
03 – Mambito de Arake (Geraldo Barbosa / Célio C. M.)
04 – Santeiro (Sergio Carvalho / Paulo Bruce)
05 – Unidunitê (João Donato / Orlann Divo)
06 – Pick Up The Pieces (R. Ball / H. Suart)

Wilson das Neves e seu Conjunto – Juventude 2000 (1968)

Wilson das Neves e o Seu Conjunto – Juventude 2000 (1968) is the debut LP from this great Brazilian drummer. This is another crazy set where every kind of influence is put together on a strength mix. Additionally, there is a lot of organ playing on Walter Wanderley and Ed Lincoln style.

zecalouro is in doubt if the cover artwork is great or not. Seems to zecalouro that the cover tries to guess what Juventude – Youth – scene should be in 2000. I think the cover is wrong in two decades, since it is like a disco club from the 70’s.

Better summarize and stop the bla bla bla. Nice instrumental album, with a lot of instrument going to foreground and background, back and forth every time, making good surprises.

Wilson das Neves – Som Quente é o das Neves (1969)

Som Quente é o das Neves is Wilson das Neves debut album from 1969. This album is described on many websites as a top rare killer funky-jazz/soul-bossa groove. Remembering, Wilson das Neves is a drummer and also a renowned composer. This could be called a late debut solo album, since Wilson started his activities more that a decade earlier to this LP.

This LP should not be confused with the 1976 O Som Quente é o das Neves, which has the same name preceded by the letter “O”.

Wilson was also the favorite drummer of Chico Buarque, Elizeth Cardoso and Ataufo Alves, leading the rhythmic session of these artists for many years.
